Gloria and her 10-year younger sister, Elinor Borenstein, were Eddie and Bluma's only children. Elinor's husband Joe was our family pediatrician when we lived in Kansas City, Missouri. At Eddie's funeral in 1955 former president Harry Truman agreed to serve as honorary chairman of the newly conceived Eddie Jacobson Memorial Foundation. I was its first treasurer and later became president of the organization. The Foundation hosted a monthly luncheon group for Eddie's and Harry"s friends in downtown Kansas City. It also sponsored the annual May 8th birthday celebration for Mr Truman with hundreds of distinguihed guests in attendance. President Truman and I were the trustees of the annual Eddie Jacobson Memorial Fellowship given to two Israels at Brandeis University.
