1. Why Ynet?
Alex ,   London   (04.25.07)
I dont understand Ynet for publishing this article? What could possible be the point? It is an incredibly negative, pessimistic and beaten article, and does nothing to help israelis and future israelis. I am making aliyah in july, and while i am not depressed at the idea that some people cant take the intensity of life in israel, I am depressed that a reputable, leading news agency such as Ynet would publish this
2. it is simple
ZD ,   USA   (04.25.07)
return to 1967 ,return the occupied land and you will be able to live in peace and yes you will be able even to live in Damascus with your Syrian cousins. the solution is simple.
3. You NEVER TRULY HIT THEM HARD
(04.25.07)
Only pathetic skirmishes with leaflets and calls to get out of their homes. It would only take a week at the most win the war against the PA, stop all imports into the PA, firebomb Hamas/Fatah, NO WARNINGS OF ATTACKS. FIGHT LIKE A MAN NOT LIKE A COWARD AND THEIR WILL BE VICTORY
4. The man is suicidal - he needs psych help quick
Leah ,   Haifa   (04.25.07)

5. Number 1
Ed ,   USA   (04.25.07)
Its an opinion piece. Ynet publishes opinions. This one happens to be correct....I love to visit Israel....but heaven forbid that I should have to live there.

9. I was born outside Israel, and I came here for a reason
Alexander ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (04.25.07)
Maybe I am just a tough Russian Jew who can handle more heat than various "second-hand Israelis" (I would question their "good condition", by the way, I think their backbone may have expired), but if I ever leave Israel, it will not be out of fear. This country is way tougher than many people realize, and it will outlive both Idan Ben-Barak and any other doomsayer.
10. Problem of Emuna ?
Eli ,   Jerusalem   (04.25.07)
I'm not surprise that this guy lives in Australia, he's better there, let us do what we have to do...
11. ?????
Michael Ben Raphael ,   Tel Aviv   (04.25.07)
what the author(self hating, defeatist) fails to mention is that if Israel was to dissapear, the jews world wide would face immense dangers. I prefer o put my faith in G-d. If he only reads the prophicies, he will see that Israels rebirth was a myracle and our very existense here is a miracle, with so many enemies that want to see us dead.
12. to Alex #1
Alex ,   Rosh HaAyin, Israel   (04.25.07)
You know what it is man, it's just that people in our country are giving up on the government. The government gave up on its people long time ago. This article is an eye opener, it does sound like it's pessimistic but it's full of truth and reality. I dont agree that we must leave, but this has to be a wake up call for Israel. We have idiots for the government, some peasant for Defense Minister. Can you imagine, Defense Minister has never even served in the army, this is just plain unheard of. I have friends that when going to war last summer, didnt have a proper attire, they didnt have food for weeks. They had to go into Lebanese villages and search for food. Do you think that's pessimistic, there is always something pessimistic about the truth. Because people blindly dont want to hear the reality. And the reality is that we are letting ourselves destroy this country that our fathers have built. It's not the same spirit in the country as it used to be in 1948 when we established the State. People are burning flags on Independence Day, do you think that's normal? That is because they cannot deal with the CORRUPT situation that there's going on in the country. If we dont wake up and see what's going on, then Israel will seize to exist. I know in the past Ynet has never published my posts similar to this one in tone. But I hope they will. Because we need to do something, enough waiting and simply thinking that this is just a phase and Olmert will leave. We must wake up and do something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
13. Ben Barak - just a provocative loser
Rachel ,   Negev   (04.25.07)
The only reason you would bother writing something so idiotic and provacative is out of a deep seated guilt for the fact that you've turned your back on your people and your history to live somewhere else. Please do your fellow ex-citizens and ex-people a huge favor and stay put in Australia. And don't cry when the skin-heads and fanatic Muslims beat the crap out of you on your way to the beach.
14. Get out of there
Roxanne ,   Israel   (04.25.07)
I whole hardly agree with the author's points that Israel is in a moral decline.Between the corruption in the government, failing schools, the ever widening gap between rich and poor, Israel is on the path of the DoDO bird. Alot of Sabras tell me of their desires to move to America or Canada for a better way of life for their families. Here the religious establishment has too much power over the secular citizens in terms of Divorce, foods that we eat, and what we can/cannot do on the sabbath. If Israel doesnot change with the times, then I am afraid it is headed down the abyss, once the young people leave for greener pastures, who will serve in the IDF, the ultra orthodox won't,Hassidic won't what will become of Israel then? The only solution to prevent the brain drain is toINCREASE SPENDING ON EDUCATION FROMkindergarden on up. make all citizens serve in the IDF (only allowing handicapped not to serve), encourage foreign investment, create jobs, allow foreign banks in, do away will all monopolies, and draw up a Constitution and Bill of rights for all citziens, and of course EQUAL PAY FOR EQUAL WORK!
15. Oh please!
Tricia Schwitzer ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (04.25.07)
So how do you explain the thousands each year who realize their dream and come to live here? Theirs, unlike yours, is not the will of the wounded. Get real. Israel and Israelis are undoubtedly here to stay. Sure, the water is murky but it's still fit to drink.
16. MORE DEFEATIST JUNK FROM THE LAST IDIOTS.
ben Avraham ,   tel Aviv, Israel   (04.25.07)
17. Good Riddance, Ben-Barak
David ,   New York, USA   (04.25.07)
Dear Idan Ben-Barak: You are nothing but a coward who left his country and his nation and then tries to make other Jews leave their homeland. It would have served you well if you just left and kept your mouth shot. Why don't you ask the Arabs to leave? You are obviously a self hating Jew and I for one am glad you don't live in Israel. Please stay out. And for your info, for every self hating Jew that leaves Israel for the reason you left, there are 10 Zionist Jews who make alia and call Israel their home. Ben-Barak: Good Riddance, and please please please Please stay out.
18. The best advice ever..
Marlene ,   New York City/USA   (04.25.07)
Live in another country that is non-racist where you are not the supremacy and have exclusive rights over all others, and give the rest of the population a break. Thank you.
19. The truth sure hurts: When will the masses awaken???????????
Dose of Reality ,   USA/Israel   (04.25.07)
How many LOL merts, Tali Fahimas, Peretzes, territorial concessions, supreme court injustices, political sex/ money & corruption scandals ........... can we take ????????????????????????
20. WHO IS THIS IDAN BEN-BARAK?.....
Ben Yisrael ,   Jerusalem   (04.25.07)
He is a former Jerusalem veterinarian who has espoused radical leftist views when he lived here and has been campaigning against the Jewish State since he left Israel. He came to the conclusion that the best way to defeat Israel is to encourage yerida. Kol hakavod.
21. Encouraging emigration
Yitzchak ,   New York, USA   (04.25.07)
Notice that Idan ben Barak does not mention anything of the holiness and sanctity of the land and the deep jewish connection to it. If a jew believes that only in the land of Israel can s/he can reach spiritual heights and a connection to G-d not attainable elsewhere, then s/he will love the land, the people, and the government in spite of the hiccups. They will see the big picture and stay and fight and build it. The land of Israel contantly tests the committments of its jewish inhabitants to make sure they are worthy to live in it. Those jews who are only interested in the good life will not be able to stand up to the test. This has been going on since 1948 and will continue.
22. Who needs you?
Dima   (04.25.07)
We dont need morons like this guy.. A coward of lowest sort. Leave and dont come back.
23. Bus bombings have a root cause that is fixable
Steve ,   USA   (04.25.07)
B"H Its the Bishara phenomenon. Jews hire people who represent those wanting to blow up busses not just in the Kenesset, but also inside the bus system itself. And surprise, surprise, after those in the know get the expereince on how to work the system and pass that knowledge on to those with the bombs, the busses blow. There is not total segregation based on citizenship in the hiring and there is not segregation based on citizenship or visa posession in the riding. At a subway, one is required to pay before getting close to the subway. In the bus system, the authentication mechanism is poor and the bad security is the result. It affects the US too when there is violence on the bus system, though citizens and those granted visas are generally the only people allowed on the busses so there are no bombings. The bus blows because there is not a separation from the class of people who are bombers and the class of those who are its victims. It is not rocket science to figure out why the busses are blown up. Bombers are allowed to ride the busses without barrier is the problem, just like Bishara was allowed to attend the Kenesset while Kahane was not. Once there is love among the Jews for the Jews, the bus bombings can disappear. Jews when we love each other care enough to put responsible people in positions that control numerous lives. Until then, the bombing of busses is as natural a consequence as water falling from the sky. In terms of the quote, " we thought we might be able to finalize some kind of a deal with them", the deal cannot be made with the non-citizen Arab. The deal needs to be made with the Jews who compromise security, and then the non-citizen Arab will have to respect it. Quote: Once upon a time we thought we might be able to finalize some kind of a deal with them so that the buses stop exploding, but today we understand it will be like this forever.
24. Alan, Idan is tired.
Stan ,   Brooklyn, USA   (04.25.07)
Alan, Idan wants better life for himself. There are many people like him that is true, but there are even more people who love to live in Israel and who just like you desided to make alya. It is OK for YNET to print this article. It is important to hear people like Idan. Idan good luck to you in Australia. They probably don't work on Christmas and in your free time you can go and ask them to put a Chanukka menora near the official christmas tree.
25. How sad!
Chanya   (04.25.07)
Despite the self-serving rhetoric of the article, it takes no act of courage to live abroad. It's an act of courage to move away from terrorists, to upgrade your shopping experience, to have a wider selection of made in China products? The people with real courage are those who are building the Jewish State, despite all the obstacles. And yes, there still are many who are building that state, even as you sit there in Australia sipping your drink.

29. Unfounded article
Eddie ,   Israel   (04.25.07)
stop saying "we" i think you speak for yourself and only yourself. You should do your research a little more when speaking about Israel because most of the things you say are lies. Israel is the number two place in the world of publicized scientific papers after the US. High tech industry is growing by the minute and the economy is strong. The IDF is among the best in the world. Maybe you dont notice it but israel is very close to 1st world closer then any third world country. thats probably because you haven't even traveled enough to realize it. but its ok.. whenever you experience a hate crime you will be coming back to Israel weeping and guess what? we will take you back.
