31. I disagree Wassam
Jellybean ,   Chicago   (04.24.07)
Islamic Fundamentalists are a threat to world peace, not Israel. The difference is that Israel does not put up with it.
32. #22 mistaken
Rustum ,   London, UK   (04.24.07)
Well, a considered and calm answer, but I still believe that youa re wrong. Appeasement, as in the WWII situation, has nothing to do with the ME situation. If that were the case, the UK would not have joined in the US wars in Afghanistan and Iraq - which everyone will tell you has exacerbated Moslem feeling towards the UK more than anything else. When you talk about the press being too scared to tell "the other side of the story"- this is absolute nonsense. We still read of every Israeli injury and death and of the lives and personal traumas of Israelis and the deaths of Lebanese and Palestinians are still just numbers and ciphers. What your post avoids altogether is any reference to the human rights situation in Israel and why the British press and public feel incensed at the lack of equality and the human rights abuses - for you need to remember that we are now a multi-cultural society and the thought of discrimination on the basis of colour or ethnicity is abhorrent to all right-thinking people. As for London "exploding with violence... if we dare to try and understand the other side of the story" - I'm afraid your hypothesis is total nonsense.
33. israel will survive until the extermination of the enemies
of israel.SOON! ,   SUSAN ISRAEL   (04.24.07)
34. Everybody should know Rustum is an Arab Muslim.
Daisy ,   USA   (04.24.07)
He's not British and doesn't speak for the Brits. Even though the British media is very anti-Israel there are signs that the other side is getting through. I've met several Brits who've told me that people in their country are getting fed up with the Muslims and now are realizing what babarism Israel has to put up with for decades.
35. Israel will survive forever because G-d deemed
(04.24.07)
that it would be so. Her enemies and detractors,on the other hand, will not .
36. Susan ! Dear listen me, please
(04.24.07)

I met your name was a rose name. kind of a rose name. YOU ARE A ROSE, SUSAN. go to kitchen, I am hungry :))) *** LETS BUILD THE BRIDGES OF FRIENDSHIP WHICH NEVER BUILD :) cool words :) love Atilla Karagözoğlu
37. Don't believe the hype, the world hates Muslims.
Daisy ,   USA   (04.24.07)
The Western media doesn't show this because it's owned by Saudi Arabia. The tide is turning and he good side will win.
38. What do you get when Rustum falls in the mud??A Dirty Joke
Daisy Cutter   (04.24.07)
Rustum you are a clown, I should have you as a Jester in my Court. You are a one sided simpleton who does not take in all of the information. Arabs have started all the wars..why? Because Islam demands Jews blood because they did not beleive your Prophet Mohammeds' lies and his fake religion. That's why you Moslems hate us Jews with every once of emotion seething in your bodies. HA HA HA HA HA Your BFF Nassralah started the war by abducting 2 soldiers and killing more. Israel stopped the war because they were expecting the return of the abducted soldiers. But as always, terrorists never live up to thier part of the deal, just like your other BFF Arafat. Enjoy your admiration for terrorists. Enjoy the HATE Mr. Rustum.
39. #34
Rustum ,   London, UK   (04.24.07)
For all the pathetic insults in your postings regarding me, I have to say that I was born in the UK, have a British passport, British parents, grandparents.. Is that enough? Or are you still going to continue saying that I am not British? Obviously my ethnicity is important for you - you keep stating that I am an Arab Muslim - and obviously the Brits you meet who "are getting fed up with the Muslims" are right-wing loonies and racists. Birds of a feather, I suppose.
40. Poor naive Abdullah # 30
Isragirl ,   Qiryat Yam, Israel   (04.24.07)
Germany and UK grant refugee status to people not out of kindness of their heart (funny!), but b/c they opened this road when they colonized/conquered parts of the world and now they're paying the price. They can't afford their standards of living without the slavery-priced labour, they are addicted to the cheap goodies from Asia and ME (not just oil - pretty much everything that Europe doesn't possess naturally), and they have vast interests invested in providing the weapons and fueling the wars between the "indigenous" people, whom they view as inferior as 200 years ago. They just didn't expect those "primitives" to extend their wars into their own territory - a tiny miscalculation, really. Every time I come to these countries I meet the Pakistani and other taxi-drivers, waiters, food peddlers who are eager to talk to another foreigner and when they hear that I'm from Israel they get excited and start telling me their life stories - stories of loneliness, abuse, poverty, exclusion from the larger society. It's easier for them to relate to a visiting "Zionist" like me, than to the "kind, wonderful" hosting nation who gave them refuge. And when I talk to my "local" friends - be it English, Dutch, Danish or German, smart and educated people - I hear voices of despise, disrespect and fear, sometimes vaguely disguised. They too relate easily to me - I look European and I come from a CIVILIZED COUNTRY. To Europeans that means everything. No matter what lip-service they will give you in the media. Honestly - I value my street encounters with the immigrants more, b/c their pain unites us. And as much as I enjoy going out and clubbing with my EU friends - when I hear them talk in the comfort of their private living rooms, I feel like its 1937 outside. Only Muslims are the new Jews...
41. The weaker one
Suzanne   (04.24.07)
Zion Evroni is right. This is something Europeans are bothered with. They believe one party in a conflict is weaker and even though this party is more corrupt, more violent, more aggressive and more hatefull,... the weaker one should be supported; because Europe failed to do so during WWII. Because Europe had been (and sometimes still is) outrageous harsh towards minorities or those suffering from THEIR colonialism. And because Europe was bad, no other country is supposed to act bad towards - what they believe - the weaker side of the conflict. Untill they realise, however, that it is not about the amount of tanks, bullets, fences and checkpoints, but that it is about MIddle-Eastern dignity, pride, hatred, racism, selfishness, money, power and the will to actually fight the hated ones no matter what and how in order to achieve your own "orgasms" (I dont know for the moment how else to put it). And it is THAT that is dangerous. It is THAT what people make into Goliaths and then again Israel is rather a David with some lousy tanks and bullets and fences and checkpoints against the full of hate and destruction spreading maffioso Goliath.
42. BBC belongs to the same country
(04.24.07)
under attack by the very enemies of Israel. What a bunch of foot-shooting nitwits!
43. #17- Since when have the Arab people ever intersected......
Cameron ,   USA   (04.24.07)
with alien, infidel concepts like 'habeus corpus' and 'human rights'? Simply stay in London, Rustum, observe, study, and transform yourself by actually attempting to live by those ideals.
44. but hey rustum whats your colour???
susan ,   israel   (04.24.07)
45. Islam is the light unto the world INDEED.
Daisy ,   USA   (04.25.07)
46. Foreign Ministry is on drugs?
Daniel van Dalen ,   Jerusalem   (04.25.07)
Sounds to me like they've been 'using' a little bit too much.
47. In Ireland Protestant ChristianCommunities Fly ISRAELI FLAGS
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (04.25.07)
The Catholic communities fly "Palestinian" flags. The Protestant communities identify with Jews and Israel. Tiny Israel is indeed David against the Goliath of 22 Arab countries, PLO/Fatah, Hamas, Hezbollah, Al-Qaida, Syria, Iran and the global Islamic community.
48. The solution is in Israel's hands
Negru Voda ,   Transilvania   (04.25.07)
So: Israel is the pariah state and its diplomats are going through contortions to find some glimmer of sunlight in that gloomy picture. May I suggest that Israel could easily rejoin the ranks of acceptable nations by taking two simple steps? 1) Return to its internationally-recognized borders; and 2) Comply with the Geneva Conventions and international law on the right of refugees to return to their homes. What's so hard about that?
49. Rustum
zionist ,   miami   (04.25.07)
Rustum is somewhat obsessed with Israel - he writes incessantly about this country that he loves to hate on a newspaper forum for a newspaper from that country - and he tells others that they don't make sense or argue rationally and then proceeds to call an Israeli spokesman a bleating goat with a whiny voice - Rustum has obviously thus reached the very pinnacle of reason and cogent thought. Rustum, maybe get out a bit. Take a walk in a park. Find a romantic interest (whatever your preference). You are too wound up and too blinded by your prejudice.
50. I love Negru Voda (wink-wink)
(04.25.07)
The pariah state, my goodness. Spoken like a true pariah by the nature of your Eastern European locale. You'll never be an equal in the eyes of the people whom you aspire to emulate. So you write obsessively to the only people whom you were bred to perceive as pariahs through the centuries of religious and ethnic bigotry. You think if you try to offend us, the "Superior Others" will accept you? We all know how much they wanted you to join their prestigious little club - NOT. Leave us alone. Your country is drowning in poverty and self-neglect, you have no means for survival since you have nothing to offer to the world market, besides a couple of smart brains. The only influx of people you have is from Moldova who are worse off than you are (and they hate you, too, btw, I've been there). Heal thyself first.
51. BBC
colin ,   Israel   (04.25.07)
As if anybody is interested in the poll of the lying BBC.Since when have the BBC ever said one word for Israel. Why does Israel even permit these wops into the area??Get rid of BBC
52. A big kiss to Anonymous #50
Negru Voda ,   Transilvania   (04.25.07)
I'm flattered by Anonymous #50's extensive analysis of my status, my character, my heritage, my cultural history, my inner thoughts...even my enemies! In short, a thumbnail biography...and all from my little post! I'm embarrassed to say that I can't reciprocate: all that I learn from the omniscient Anonymous is that he (or she) has visited Moldova, which he/she despises even more than my lovely Transilvania. So Interesting, but so irrelevant! That being said, I would simply return to the subject under serious discussion and repeat: there is a straightforward and righteous way for Israel to cast off its pariah role, but it requires an effort of will and perhaps just a bit of humility as well as humanity.
53. @48, if you want to destroy Israel, that is the solution
Suzanne   (04.25.07)
or you think that all (proclaimed; (some of which is not sure they even ever were residents in the tiny Israel, Remember that most of the mandate of Palestine is now JORDAN and that figures and other related data are simply not there due to bad registering)) former residents of Palestinians and there children and grand-children would want to live in a Jewish state called Israel? You have any idea about how many we are talking about? I would like to point out to you the article by this Saudi guy, Yousef Nasser Al-Sweidan - perhaps it will change your opinion forever: "The Right of Return - An Idea that Cannot Be Implemented" http://memri.org/bin/latestnews.cgi?ID=SD154007
54. YNET's sense of humour
Michael ,   Haifa   (04.25.07)
Sometimes YNET publishes really funny pieces.
55. I think Rustum, like most of
Jon ,   London   (04.25.07)
his ilk are fairly useless members of society and grudgingly admires the Jews and Zionists for our success in many areas of life.
56. Irish disagree with Israeli govt policies
Daniel ,   Cork, Ireland   (04.25.07)
Irish people do not hate or dislike Jews that's utterly ridiculous, but what they do have a problem with is the current Israeli government's severely harsh polcies towards the Palestinian people. It was never about taking sides in the conflict but about highlighting injustice no matter which side of the conflict. Unfortunately for the Palestinians, it seems that they are the victims of this injustice(no sovereign state, security barrier etc). ps...an Irish Peace Laureate Mairead Maguire was invited to participate in a nonviolent demonstration with some of the Palestinian members of parliament and Israeli peace activists and local villagers and international visitors when she was shot by a plastic bullet fired by Israeli soldiers.
57. Zion Evroni: Palestinians are victims - He's right!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (04.25.07)
They are victims of their own evil! Whatever misery they are living in has been brought about by Arab terror and their hatred against Israel and the Jewish people. Our rotten image abroad is due to the magnificent propaganda efforts in the leading TV media like the BBC, CNN, SkyNews, Fox News, France 24 and of course, Al Jazeera in both Arabic and English. In many cases these channels are controlled or heavily invested in by the Saudis. Some follow the appeasing attitudes of governments. Britain is a fine example of this. The problem is exacerbated by the lack of an Israeli multi-language news channel. Channels 1, 2 and 10 only report on incidents where Israel is held to be the aggressor, the murderer of children and civilians and all other evils that can be laid on her, on the news in Hebrew. By that time the world has seen the often manipulated pictures and videos and the damage has been done. Even in the event of local terror attacks and other Palestinian atrocities, the Foreign News Channels beat our local channels with their reports. News MUST be current. What happened an hour or two ago is of no interest to anyone except the historians. Quite frankly, I do not see why IBA’s Channel 33 cannot, with immediate effect, be converted to an International News Channel broadcasting in English, French and German on the lines of France 24. It is already broadcasting on satellite so there is no technical problem and the budget is there. Of course there red tape story and, no doubt, there will have to be a committee or even a commission of enquiry. If the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is really that deluded into believing that everyone "adores Israel" then they should definitely be given psychiatric help! They obviously don’t watch the foreign channels or read the overseas press.
58. I ADORE ISRAEL
AN AMARIA ,   SOUTH AMERICA   (04.25.07)
I AM NOT JEWISH, NOT ISRAELI. BUT ALMOST EVERY DAY I HELP PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND THE ISRAELI-PALESTIAN CONFLICT AND THE PROBLEMS THAT ISRAEL FACE TO REACH AN AGREEMENT WITH THE PALESTINIANS. I HOPE MY VOICE SOMEDAY WILL HAVE ECHO AMONG ALL THE KIDS I AM EDUCATING IN THIS CORNER OF THE WORLD.
59. to #29 "Americans are sick of you"
Christy ,   Boston, USA   (04.25.07)
Only in your anti-Semitic wet dreams is America sick of the Jews. The US is still a majority Christian nation. Evangelical Christians, in particular, support Israel and the Jews. We're having a second gathering in DC this summer to make sure our congress reps. know we expect the US to be a good ally with/to Israel.
60. To #51 Colin - The BBC is not alone
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (04.25.07)
However, blacking out the channels would only aid and abet the critics. Can't you just hear them - "Ah, Israel imposes censoship on the media". Colin, rememeber "Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer".
