1. Just Return the Occupied Syrian Land and Move on
Fred Farkelsteinman ,   NY, NY USA   (04.25.07)
The land should be returned to Syria without conditions as Israel has no valid claim to the land in the first place, and UNSCR 242 calls for Israel to withdraw from lands it seized in 1967, which includes the Golan along with the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem. For once Israel needs to abide by the UN and international laws and stop delaying the inevitable.

5. Lease the Golan Heights?
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (04.25.07)
Good grief!!! I'm gone for 4 hours, I come back, and they're thinking of offering to pay rent for what they've won fair and square. Can't you guys be left alone even for a few hours??? How much in money and lives did it cost you to get that Golan Heights?? When you consider time in terms of generations, 99 years is nothing. Until and unless the other guys really beat the socks off me, I wouldn't give 'em diddlysquat. Is Jerusalem far behind?
6. Right on # 1
papa jay   (04.25.07)
i dont get the people on this talkback why the hell did Israel withdraw from Sinai? Settlements were build there too you know. was Begin a leftist that gave Israel away? I believe peace for Sinai was popular among Israelis. Same thing applies to the Golan. like a child holding on to something that doesn’t belong to you. What part of 242 and 338 don’t you understand??
7. golan
colin ,   Israel   (04.25.07)
He has not even been elected and is already giving presents to syria without a referandem which will reject his traitorous thoughts.Ayalon has lost most oe the respect of the few that might have gone along his path.Ayalon cannot even put his name in the list of potential leaders.
8. Why waste time, have all Jews walk into the sea!!
Shiloh   (04.25.07)

MK ,   Atlanta, USA   (04.25.07)
I thought we had it bad in the US. Israel is run by freakin' morons! No wonder the government polices go around in circles like a hamster wheel. The Syrians are building up a massive missle program, and Ayalon is talking about leasing the Golan. Is he retarted??
13. Foolish
shlomy ,   brooklyn U.S.A.   (04.25.07)
it is the stuipidist thing to give away holy land that God gave to us in exchange for so called ''peace'' it is like we are betraying god's gift that he gave ''us'' jew's and we are suposed to trust God for protection not muslims
14. dear papa jay
shlomy ,   brooklyn   (04.25.07)
the example that u gave about a child holding on to sothing that is not his well if u dont know history this piece of land did belong to us 2000 years ago.....
15. To Fred in NY-Problem with English?
Reality Check ,   BaGolan   (04.25.07)
Read the wording of UNSC Resolution 242 carefully. After MUCH negotiating, it was on purpose that the wording read "withdraw from land" not "withdraw from all land." The extent of withdrawal was to be developed during negotitations which the Arabs never want to do!
16. TRAITORS !
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (04.25.07)
17. Leasing? Did he lose his entire mind?

20. Why is the 10th offered by YNET new?
Steve ,   USA   (04.25.07)
B"H I do not trust this Ayalon fellow. He offers something in the pamphelet that is not realistic. Syria is looking to attack Israel, not lease land. Where does this fellow come up with there being peace for a lease? There is no way that Syria would accept such a measure. It just another bait and switch to trick the Israeli public again. How many times does Israel need to get tricked by Labor (Oslo, Gaza expulsion) before it wakes up and boots the party out of the Kenesset? To quote: In the pamphlet, Ayalon presents his plan to reach a peace agreement with Syria, according to which Israel will transfer control of the Golan but will lease it for 99 years.
21. another bad joke?
jack ,   usa   (04.25.07)
I have yet to hear a politician put a resonable proposal on the table. How about stop funding, supporting, arming, and training groups that kill Israelis..before anything is given back to anyone! Oh and by the way I think it should be officially annexed, so that way all the people constantly demanding its return can keep crying foul just as they do today about anything possible
22. AYALON
DSM ,   USA   (04.25.07)
Throw a net around this guy and take him to the looney bin.
23. Once again # 1 and #6
J K ,   NYC, USA   (04.25.07)
UNSCR 242 is the only binding' resolution in the UN relating to the situation in the Mideast... It says to withdraw from land...not all the lands. You quote the resolution correctly and completely ignore the spirit. Its not something for nothing and move on. Israel has to get something out of it too, and the intention was never to move them back to the armistice lines for 1948 which were kept armistice lines by the Arabs themselves to make sure they didnt define and international border with Israel which would have meant recognizing it at all. Silly Arabs....tricks are for kids. The actual finishing lines will be determined via negotiations with the Fakestinians and perhaps the Syrians some day but going back to the starting point simply because you are bored with this situation? Both lands won in defensive wars that Syria and Jordan didnt have to join? Even Germany paid a territorial price after WWII. The Arabs should be no different.
24. like usa would give away new mexico to mexico
(04.25.07)
waht is all this nonsense about give away land to who? iti s not his land to give away. why doesnt usa give away new mexico to the mexicans? or give florida to cuba? or how about give away land to native americans? or the canadians? everyone so busy asking to give away land, jsut give away Israel altogether then
25. The writing is on the wall
Negru Voda ,   USA   (04.25.07)
It is painfully evident to all but the most fanatical expansionists that, probably sooner than later, the Golan will revert to its rightful owner. The belief that 40 years of occupation had somehow legitimitized the Anschluss is a fallacy: this sort of massive land grab is simply impermissible in a post-colonial world. It's been a good run: many of Arik Sharon's cattle have gotten fat, many Israelis have learned to ski on the Golan's slopes. But the writing is on the wall.
26. Don't blame Ayalon
RedStarYeast ,   USA   (04.25.07)
Don't blame Ayalon for trying to squeeze the best possible deal out of Syria. Face it: Syria is going to regain sovereignty over the Golan. Dead-enders like Netanyahu might drag the process out for a few years, but then it's all over. So Syria will politely ignore Ayalon' s 99-year ploy and insist on the whole enchilada. Syrians are just as patient as Israelis!
27. Hartley's fantasy
Wolfram ,   USA   (04.25.07)
I'm interested in M. Hartley's notion that, in the 20th century and beyond, national territory is "won fair and square." This is presumably why West Germany is the 51st state of the USA, and why Japan is the 52nd. And why Grenada is a US Territory. Oh, yes, and why Kuwait is once again an Iraqui province, and why Iraq itself is...oh, well, you get the picture!
28. Israel should lease him to Syria. They can have him
Frank ,   USA   (04.25.07)
29. Ami Ayalon would sell his mother for a vote !
ben ,   singapore   (04.25.07)
dont ever vote for Ayapig !
30. Listen up
Manny ,   Canada   (04.25.07)
Who cares what the curropt UN sais? Give me a break! They are totally anti Israel in the highest order. When Nasser demanded that the UN withdraw their peacekeeping troops so that he can attack Israel, they promptly complied knowing full well what Israel would have to face. I dont see a reason why Israel should listen to these illegitimate peoeple. Seriously speaking: why in the world should Israel listen to the UN. In other words what makes the UN worthy that Israel should listen to them?
