1. Stop Looking At Rear View Mirror
Dave Levy ,   Burbank. USA   (04.27.07)
Isn't it time for Israel to move on and stop (as our top general in Iraq is telling US), looking at the rear view mirror. It's was obvious that the Defense minister was not a military man from the get go. Olmert took over an already bad situation vis a vie Lebanon, which Sharon had no real remedy for. Israel could be looked upon as having been flexible, perhaps to it's detriment. But Israel was fighting Condi's war, with restraint. It knew that bunker bustersf would have changed the outcome, but avoided them. Israel didn't win and didn't lose. So let's move on already...and focus on Syria, Iran's nukes, etc. This is all a waste of precious time.

3. SO WHAT !
A.C. Guard ,   USA   (04.27.07)
The report will be released, there will be a brief outcry at which time Olmert and Peretz will blame others and nothing will change. Until the Israeli's let their political parties know they want new elections life will go on until the next battle or until they just give away the country to the Arabs.
4. GET THESE FOOLS OUT OF GOVERMENT NOW

5. #1 - Israel cannot move forward with its failed leadership !
Observer ,   Europe   (04.27.07)
The investigations HAVE been a waste of time - Olmert and his Kadima buddies should have been brought down in the Knesset eight months ago. However, Israel CANNOT move forward under this failed, corrupt, directionless bunch of appeasing cowards.

10. war probe
jeremy ,   hula valley kibbutz   (04.28.07)
So does this mean we can finally get rid of the Putz named Peretz?? We all know the truth here anyway, so to Amir, bye bye. You can now go home to mommy and the rock you crawled from under.
11. Report is rigged
freejay ,   Israel   (04.28.07)
Olmert appointed winograd in the first place and its obvious that others will end up being blamed for Olmerts failures. (mainly Halutz). This report is rigged by Olmert to escape blame. Go look at Winograds past commissions and you will realise that this is a sham. Olmert is a crook and thief and will use any dirty trick to retain his position. He is a danger to Israels survival.
12. A bad day for Isreal
Mike ,   leb   (04.28.07)
What’s going on down there? President with uncontrolled sexuality Corrupt government…a prime minister rejected by most of his nation and still can rule… It seems that Israel took the best from the American democracy…and the best from the Arabic and third world democracy… Combined them together and got a true Oasis of democracy!!
13. To Observer. Who Would Be Better?
Dave Levy ,   Burbank. USA   (04.28.07)
Let me be up front, I did not like the outcome of the Lebanese war. I was also dismayed at Israel's disengagement, even though I first applauded it. I am concerned that Hamas if building an army. I am also fearful that Iran will have an atomic bomb or two within 3 years., and dozens thereafter. So what should Israel do I ask? Who would lead Israel out of this difficult quandry and WHAT DIFFERENT WOULD THEY DO? I think this is a fair question? If not Olmert, then who? Sharon is still in a coma. Bibi is pre-historic and had his chance. Barak was illiterate and foolish. Lieberman is excessive. Then whom I ask?
14. Saudi Arabia Has A Cutting Edge
Dave Levy ,   Burbank. USA   (04.28.07)
To Mike: I think they are innocent until proven guilty. That said: we have our own corruption investigations right here in the good old US of A. And let's not forget the morals charges against Clinton, and bribary and conflict of interest against Abramoff, and DeLay. No, Israel is just like every other non-dictatorship, there are some who are gonifs, with loose morals. But I'm going to assume 99% of Jews in Israel just want to live their quiet lives, work hard, raise their families and serve their country. At least in Israel, heads and hands are not cut off under Sharia. Get my point? The punishment fits the crime when proven.
15. # 13 - Anyone who loves their country ...
Observer ,   Europe   (04.28.07)
A country should be lead by those who love their country rather than those who love only themselves. Patriotism should be a much more important criteria for choosing leaders than their political skills - Israel is a nation at war, fooling itself that it has time for peace-time niceties !
16. Collective Responsbility... all involved please vacate the..
ben ,   singapore   (04.28.07)
chair let the new generation take over. It is high time some new blood comes in.It is wise administration that the old guard groom now talented leaders for the nation. It is unfortunate the old guards in the Israeli Parliament been sleeping for ages. The Old Guard failed badly. Israel been brought backward 20 years but we should not let it go any backward ! The special character of Yisrael is Israel renews herself everyday, every shabbat. Let the new generation take over .Go Forth !
17. #11 is correct, it's rigged.
Ari   (04.28.07)
Winograd is rigged. If I remember correctly Olmert attempted to appoint a kadima activist to the Winograd commission when it was first set up, although I am uncertain whether this attempt came to fruition or failed. The point here is that Winograd was appointed by olmert, the kadima government, etc, and is rigged to prevent him from being called on to do the right thing, take responsibility for his mistakes, and resign. This is precisely why there should be a state commission of inquiry, similar to the kahan commission, to investigate olmert, halutz, and peretz for their mistakes. Otherwise, the results will be biased in favor of Olmert and he will evade taking responsibility. Why can't people see that?
18. Between speculation and news
Ilan ,   Ariel   (04.28.07)
The report will be published tomorrow an then we will now what is written in it. I can wait. It is clear that Peretz, Olmert and perhaps the entire cabinet did not act competently, but we didn't need Winograd to tell us that.
