Capital punishment for treason has been considered fitting since the birth of modern democracy (in the US, of course). The difference between a democracy and a totalitarian regime is that few things receive a death penalty, that due process is standard, and that citizens have the power to change the law. That includes many posters to Ynet news. 2) The call for capital punishment for Vanunu from people here has not been for his past "crime" - he has served his time for that.
