1. NASRALLAH
Brant ,   Hilton Head SC   (04.30.07)
Wonder when the fat sheik will be as open to the press about his failures as the Israelis just were to Al Manar, Al Jazeera and Al Arabiya. Israel has the strength for self-criticism and public examination that the Ibn Al Rotunda doesn't seem to have. If shooting rockets from among women and children is strength then he is strong. If causing the death of so many Lebanese is victory, then hail Nasrallah. The main lesson Israel needs to learn is to defeath this sly and clever sheikh they need to get some of their own cleverness and prteemptiveness back.
2. ASSRALLAH - CRAWL BACK TO YR HOLE
nicholas ,   london   (04.30.07)
3. the man has a good point.
papa jay   (04.30.07)
to Nasrallah it was a victory, his support increased after the war unlike Olmert his support plummeted. Olmert lacks vision and strategy, retain his dignity if any is left and resign.
4. We're still here and thriving, so who actually failed?
Israel   (04.30.07)
5. Yes Nasrallah...Olmert & Livni SURRENDERED
malcolm   (04.30.07)
So move quickly before BIBI takes the reigns. Then you will have a real leader and army to fight. Israel had better eject the clown & his fat assed sidekick Livni before it's too late.
6. Need to be careful with instability in Arab world
Steve ,   USA   (04.30.07)
B"H The enemy Arab states are also licking their chops looking for an opportunity for another attack. If Israel is smart, it can carefully time Olmert's resignation with a carefully planned military strategy. If the opposite, Israel could end up with another war being declared in the midst of an election and no military strategy again. Olmert was correct to declare the war on Lebanon even if the army was not fully prepared and the commisions report states otherwise. The alternative was to declare war on the Jews if one looks at the political events of the time. I am actually reading the report summaries with some concern. Now on whether the funding was there, that is a separate problem. Both Olmert and Peretz were looking to trim budgets right before the war. But Israel has got to get off this knee-jerk reaction mode. If Kadima needs to be replaced, I think it is essential that the party platforms be put on the table. I know parties lie about their platform; look at Sharon and Kadima. But it least it sets a stake somewhere. Right now there is not enough order for a smooth transition, and the enemy Arab states want to jump on the opportunity. There has to be a fundamental difference between criticism and destabalization. This is a very bad time fo Olmert's government to issue unfounded charges against Katsav. The charges have provided a tailwind to destablization of the system, and what is the sense in further rocking the boat while enemy nations are just waiting to attack?
7. Yes Nasrallah you have a victory
(04.30.07)
Over Olmert, Peretz, Livni, and the rest of the losers. However the Israeli people are waiting, the thing is that no matter how much you try to superimpose yourself as the main villain. You simply cannot be it, our greatest foe is Olmert. So luck has fallen on you, your timing is impeccable, finding when Israel is in the worst position to do anything. But the thing is this is exactly like gambling. You've hit big, but don't forget two things. 1. We got your son, and we can get you. 2. Gambling at any casino, including the one called is Israel follows one general rule. The house always wins in the end. So keep playing high roller
8. # 7 wake up!!
papa jay   (04.30.07)
"The house always wins in the end" i take it israel is the house?? killing Nasrallah is not a win for the house, just like killing hamas leaders over the years wasn’t a win for that same house. how many leaders has hamas lost, how many has Hizb lost? look at them today they are stronger then ever and more importantly popular then ever before. it's clear israel lacks a long term strategy or vision. it's been at this for 50 or so years and your enemies keep getting stronger. shouldn’t that tell you something?
9. SHHH - OK HASSAN - YOU WON - WHAT DO YOU WANT??? ?
Andrew ,   Miami,FL   (05.01.07)
ALL OF ISRAEL EXTERMIANTED ? TO GO TO AL AKSA AND REJOICE IN OUR BLOOD ? GO AHEAD THEN - YOU WERE THE WINNER
10. Olmert's hopeful resignation will bring in someone who knows
Mush DeLeon ,   Brooklyn, New York   (05.01.07)
....how to get rid of scum like Nasrala.
11. HIZBULLAH WON!!
Ana Maria ,   Latin America   (05.01.07)
HIZBULLAH WON THE REPUTATION OF A TERRORIST GROUP IN LATIN AMERICA.
12. Hezbollah
BRL ,   USA   (05.01.07)
Hezbollah won and the whole of South Beirut was destroyed. What Happened?
13. PR
Dell   (05.01.07)
It's all about playing to the media..the Arabs/Pals/whatever are masters at playing up to the media..Israel needs a good PR man,to deflect some of the arab bs back onto them..where it belongs.
14. Papa Jay
Ryan ,   Calgary, Canada   (05.01.07)
I would think that Israel has grown stronger within the last 50 years as well. You might be right with the long term strategy as each politician in a democratic country focuses mainly on their tenure and their own prosperity, legacy and future, and most put this ahead of the countries future. This is typically a free market problem though, and not a democratic one. If Olmert managed to kill Nasrallah, his support would sky rocket. Nasrallah does have large followings, but what percent of Lebanon follows him, and what percent wishes that the syrian backed leader would leave lebanon alone, this is not the first time in lebanon's history that this internal debate has arisen, last I heard it was pretty much down the line 50/50. While more than 50% of Israel dislike Nasrallah, more likely somewhere around 80-85%. Back to strength, Israel has grown in strength to, but now because of the arsenal of firepower and the international watchdogs they must show restraint. if they were trigger happy as some make them out to be, why wouldn't they of turned all of lebanon into an inferno. Which they have the tech, and weaponry to do so. Also Israel tries to reduce civilian casualties while Nasrallah doesn't, he encourages them. So your matching a soulless madman against a giant with both hands tied behind his back, and your cheering the madman for pricking the giants toes. I say, let Israel do it's worse and see how you respond.
15. olmer & Peretz lost
Reality Check ,   BaGolan   (05.01.07)
But Nazirallah is still living his life hidng in a rat hole in some bombed out building in Beirut.
16. Yes Olmert lost...but
Reality Check ,   BaGolan   (05.01.07)
but it is nazirallah's southern Beirut that lay in ruin; Lebanon's economy destroyed; Lebanese politicians being exterminated by Islamofascists; Syri and Iran still control their Lebanese province; and the women of Lebanon are still being lined up as virgins for the 'martyrs'
17. Arab reaction
Duncan Forsythe ,   Chicago, UsA   (05.01.07)
The real lesson in this for the arabs is not that of Israeli weakness, but Israeli strength. Unlike the arabs, the Israelis hold their leadership accountable and are able to change course. When the arabs are able to do likewise, the region as a whole will be able to make progress.
18. Israel is still strong..
Simon ,   Malha   (05.01.07)
Look around the world and think which nation really looks at their past wars and tactics and learn from it.. in Britain people are still shocked at how we sent so many troops to certain death in WW1.. at least ISRAEL is mature enough to really get tough on their issues... I don't see Arab nations finally trying to solve the issues of the Palestinians and I don't see the Palestinians trying to make the most of what they have - they have not tried, for if they had.. there would be a state that is friendly with Israel not a state of terror and insanity! The people want peace the politicians in Palestine (whereever that maybe!) don't... so urmm.. I think ISRAEL has won.. as it is a mature state.. Lebanon is overrun with Islamic extremists forcing their ideas and Irans on to the secular people..wait a second.. what is going on in urmm TURKEY? What about urmm.. Iraq?? Wait a minute.. please tell me which ARAB STATE is showing maturity.. is Jordan? I mean the majority of the state is Palestinian so why not allow more Palestinians in.. for it is really PALESTINE (for that is where the modern day Palestinians come from.. as the are NOT from GREECE where the original PHILISTINES CAME FROM... ???
19. Hope
Alex ,   Montreal, Canada   (05.01.07)
The only hope I have that the democracy will survive the onslaught of radical Islam, is the total incomprehension of democratic process by Islamic radicals and Arab dictators in general. Self Criticism and control of power is the very reason democracies win wars against dictatorships.
20. Israel Won War Against Lebanon's Civilians, Lost to Hezbolla
Fred Farkelsteinman ,   NY, NY USA   (05.01.07)
If attacking unarmed and unprotected civilian targets and making enemies of the people of Lebanon was the goal in Lebanon, Israel can claim a decisive victory, but Hezbollah soundly defeated Israel in its attempt to gain access to the water resource of Lebanon’s the Litani River. We know today that Israel’s leadership was lying when it claimed the capture of the two soldiers by Hezbollah was the reason for attacking Lebanon, and that it was, in fact, a pre-planned aggressive attack upon Lebanon. Israel lost not only just the war, but Israel also lost any remaining shred of respect it had left in the world and brought dishonor and shame to Jews living everywhere as its highly immoral and abhorrent actions were associate with all Jews. If Israelis are simply looking for someone to blame for Israel’s failures other than themselves, then Olmert and Peretz will do nicely, but if it really wants to find a different solution to the problem Israel faces, they must learn to seek peace and stop planning wars.
21. Why are you still in some undeground bunker?
Daniel ,   Israel   (05.01.07)
You are so scared of Israel; you are reluctant to come out of your shelter. Or are you afraid of your own people; that they may shoot you for your defeat? Come out of the hole you rat, to celebrate; if not your winning; at list Israel's defeat.
22. Almahdi AS
aall ,   Miami, Florida   (05.01.07)
If you dont know, Nasrullah is one leaders that will handle the power to Almahdi AS movment( 12th Imam). The story known in bible and Quran. The future of Isreal (not Jews), will be challenged soon, within 10-15 years, There will be a major change in the middle east, that will return rights to there people.
23. Democracies learn and adapt
Steve G ,   Kew Gardens,NYC   (05.01.07)
A strong Israeli democracy will always achieve victory over a dogmatic theocracy. The root reason goes to the ability of democracies to learn and adapt to changing circumstances. Israel will be stronger and better prepared after this. And just wait until you see the United States fight rampaging radical Islam after the bungling Bush administration is gone in 2008.
24. Bunch of losers...You are so funny
Ali ,   Lebanon   (05.01.07)
I can feel the anger in all your comments...I thought u guys won in the war...SHIIT!!!!! Nasrallah didn't lie this time..he said that he won and all the Israeli leaders will fall one after each other. What hole are u talking about dude...who is hiding :D...You better subscribe to Maanr Tv to watch Sayed Nasrallah between the people giving his regular speeches..It seems that ur media is continuing promoting to Israel winning the war looooooooool
25. israel will never winn
sami ,   beirut   (05.01.07)
you had one chance and you blew it,what else can you bring into the battle , a nuke!!! now hizb knows your strategy for an open war and every minute goes by they ready themselves more and more. so many of you wishing for redemption, then again be careful for what you wish for,it may just turn to be israel''s last...
26. did they bribe the winograd?????
maria   (05.01.07)
by the way,how did hezbollah win?was it because of ceasefire?halutz resignation?by not releasing shalit?or maybe because a lot of terrorists and arab civilians died?martyrdom?lebanon was destroyed?is that a victory.....what an arab mentality!!!! saddam hussein won the war too and he's dead.arabs claim victory within themselves.
27. they won ????????but no peace.
maria   (05.01.07)
if they really won...how come they're still hiding in their bunker.....they did not win over paranoia.
28. nazrallah claims he wins....
maria   (05.01.07)
but he hasn't won over peace of mind and his militants always cover their face and are afraid of Light.
29. Hisb'Allah should be said about the report
uli ,   Jerusalem   (05.01.07)
1) When the report says the responsibility for the problems in the 2nd Lebanese War lies with three individuals, its means that the Army and Israel itself was strong, and that Hisb'Allah had only "luck" attack Israel while theese three individuals were governing it. 2) It's a proof of Israels working democratic system and potentially is a danger for autocrats such as Nasrallah, cause his people receive an example, of how one can deal with failing leaders 3) It opens now a new window with possibly a fresh leadership and a regain of moral in Israel. So, I would be not so happy, if I would be Hisb"Allah and would think for a minute.
30. Lebanon heading back to civil war; some victory
Ilan ,   Ariel   (05.01.07)
Let Nasralla say what he wants. They are pushing Lebanon into another civil war that will bring the country into complete disaster. Olmert may be gone tomorrow and Nasaralla is only safe until he pokes his head out of his hole.
