They were NOT talking about releasing Pollard -- what Israel wanted was a pardon. In other words they wanted a legal statement from the President of the United States that Pollard had done nothing wrong. Pollard has been eligible for parole for nearly TEN years and has never bothered to apply. If his supporters really want him released they should encourage him to apply for parole immediately and stop whining about a parole. He confessed and there is no doubt he commited a crime.

Pollard didn't "sell military secrets." The US was reneging on agreements to share military information about what Iraq was doing in its nuclear program. THAT is the information Pollard passed on--information that should, by agreement, have been shared anyway. Ever wonder how the IDF pulled off its attack on the Osirik reactor?
