1. There are no spies that are given life sentence
(05.02.07)
Look at Alger Hiss - gave information to the Soviets and only got 5 years while Pollard gave information to Israel the supposed friend of America and gets life sentence. America is dead wrong.
2. Jonathan Pollard
ben ,   singapore   (05.02.07)
Is in the prison so that those involved in the vicious conspiracy could keep their job. May those NAMES mentioned here in this article live in disgrace and shame for their part participating in the conspiracy to imprison Jonathan Pollard. May their own flesh and blood suffer this pain inflicted over the unfair and long detention of Jonathan Pollard. Their Names : 1. George Tenet 2. The senior American staff, including Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and National Security Advisor Sandy Berger 3. Benjamin Netanyahu put the Pollard matter on the 4. Bill Clinton Note : Netanyahu gave in to American pressure, and signed the Hebron agreement – without Pollard will be judged in accordance for betraying ZION !
3. why does Israel always give into pressure
Leo   (05.02.07)
in matters which are completley against her interests? disgusting.
4. Oh & it should be noted that Al-Qaeda terrorist
Leo ,   Melbourne   (05.02.07)
David Hicks will be released after 9 months and sent back to his home country of Australia. Dozens of other Al Qaeda terrorists from other western countries have already been released...all of them have fought open battles agaisnt US troops in Afghanistan. What a disgrace.
5. #2 What about Barak, Sharon, Rabin, Olmert?
(05.02.07)
They all had a chance to pull him out, this is the first time I have heard any PM trying to get him out.

Thank You for writing this article :) Ynet Thanks Once Again : - )
7. pollard "release"
chana ,   washdc   (05.02.07)
They were NOT talking about releasing Pollard -- what Israel wanted was a pardon. In other words they wanted a legal statement from the President of the United States that Pollard had done nothing wrong. Pollard has been eligible for parole for nearly TEN years and has never bothered to apply. If his supporters really want him released they should encourage him to apply for parole immediately and stop whining about a parole. He confessed and there is no doubt he commited a crime.
8. tenet should be tried
threat hunter ,   eisham, israel   (05.02.07)
tenet should be tried for choosing knowingly to keep his political job safe of risk rather than free a man who has served longer than justice required. pollard should be free. shame on america and america's jews for not standing in active solidarity with pollard. shame on israelis and the israeli governments who are complacent about pollard's fate. pollard is a human being, suffering unending, inhumane treatment, in a maximum security federal penitentiary, for the crime of helping a friend (israel) who was being lied to by america. pollard gave israel information which america was lawfully obliged to give israel, but america withheld this information. pollard was, in other words, enforcing the law. yes, the way he did it was against the rules of the way it was done. yes he has apologized. bottom line, he's served longer than he should have. just look at how many vastly more harmful spies are released, often after serving little or no prison time. stop the political double standards and free jonathan pollard now! jonathan pollard's official site is at: www.jonathanpollard.org
9. Jonathon Pollard
Stephen Bainum ,   Topeka, Kansas, USA   (05.02.07)
I am sickened by our treatment of Pollard. America prides itself on freedom and fair treatment. Yet we are holding a political prisoner. There is no other explanation for his long incarceration and the interference of Tenent than that he is a political prisoner. Are we any better than the communist who sent people to Siberia. I am ashamed our our Presidents who do not have enough backbone to release him.
10. To #1 - you are wrong
Reality Check ,   BaGolan   (05.02.07)
US history shows that only JEWISH spies are either given life sentences or executed
11. Tenet much like Olmert
Reality Check ,   BaGolan   (05.02.07)
In reading the numerous excerpts from the self-serving book, and his interviews - it becomes very apparent that Tenet and Olmert are very much alike - NOTHING IS EVER THEIR FAULT!
12. Pollard
Brod ,   USA   (05.02.07)
Pollard should have been released under Clinton if not because of the Antisemites.
13. Ok
david ,   ny,us   (05.02.07)
Though I´m very fond of Israel and Mossad. Pollard deserves to be in in jail. I dunno if is it ok a life sentence, but what he did was to betray his country US no matter his pro Israeli attitude. I too am Pro Israel and Mossad, but I would not sell millitary secrets to Israel, no matter if its an Ally of US, because that is Treason. Simple. He could have helped Israel AND the US by working closely with Israel in political, millitary analysis between the two countries... Shalom Long Live ISrael
14. The New York State Bar
ben ,   singapore   (05.02.07)
Idiots YOU Jewish Lawyers, at the New York State Bar should approach Jonathan ! Pollard.Persuade Him Psyco Him What ever ,Idiots ! Jonathan Pollard should be in The Isareli Parliament the Minister of Defense !

16. Pollard's "SIN": He PERMITTED ISRAEL to ACT in its DEFENSE
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (05.02.07)
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=24659 September 26, 2001 Terror in the U.S. and the Jonathan Pollard case By Larry Dub © 2001 WorldNetDaily.com "... thanks to Jonathan Pollard, Israel was ready with gas masks and sealed rooms when Iraq attacked her during the Gulf War... The usual sentence for spying for an ally is 2-4 years... Indeed, the Government's own Victim Impact Statement (VIS), which was submitted to the court prior to sentencing indicated that Pollard's greatest "sin" was that by giving Israel vital security information which permitted the Jewish state to act in its own defense, he had made Israel "too strong" and thus angered America's "moderate" Arab allies..."
17. #3 why?
avi ,   ny   (05.02.07)
Because if the Israeli PM does not kowtow to the US, the Pres will send over his political advisors(Greenberg and Carville) to help elect a vassal PM(Barak) . Kinda like Pompeius Magnus settling a dispute between rival princes only to end up with Herod.
18. #10 I aplogize, you are indeed (sadly) correct
(05.02.07)
19. Guys, Tenet was astonishingly incompetent,
sk ,   USA   (05.02.07)
even by Israeli standards. His book is full of fiction. I mean, he reported a face-to-face conversation he had with Perle the day after 9/11 ... and PERLE WAS STUCK IN FRANCE!
20. Power & Treachery
Adina Kutnicki ,   US   (05.02.07)
There is a special place in hell for these types of people. They are ALL bloodsucking scum.
21. US CRUELTY to Pollard SHOCKED even the Europeans 1993
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (05.02.07)
The European Parliament Resolution on Jonathan Pollard September 16, 1993 The European Parliament, 1. noting that Jonathan Pollard, then of the US Navy, was convicted in 1985 of passing classified information to Israel concerning the military activities of Iraq, Syria and other Middle Eastern nations, 2. noting also that the information dealt with the chemical, biological and nuclear arms build- up in these countries and that Pollard considered he had a moral duty to warn Israel of the developing massive threat to its security and to the lives of its people, 3. whereas Pollard has expressed remorse for his action, 4. whereas Pollard, who was not accused of treason, or of intending to harm the US, pleaded guilty under a plea bargain, and was thus convicted and sentenced, without a full trial, to life imprisonment, despite the Government's promise not to seek such a penalty, 5. noting that the sentence imposed on Pollard was grossly disproportionate to those imposed on others by US courts for supplying information to a friendly power (normally from two to four years), 6. shocked that most of Pollard's eight years in prison should have been spent in solitary confinement and underground, 7. astonished that Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger, described by one of his Under-Secretaries for Defense as having had 'an almost visceral dislike of Israel', should have sent a message to the trial judge, one hour before the sentencing hearing, asking for the stiffest possible sentence commensurate with Pollard's 'treasonous' (sic) behavior, 8. noting however that Mr. Weinberger stated recently that he thought it was time that Mr. Pollard should be released; aware that Christian and Jewish organizations throughout the world have pleaded for the harsh sentence of life imprisonment to be commuted and that Judge Steve Williams wrote, in a dissenting opinion to an appellate court finding, that 'the government's conduct in this case resulted in a 'complete miscarriage of justice', 1. Urges the US Administration to commute Pollard's sentence to one of time served and to release him immediately; 2. Calls on EPC to intercede with the US government with this end in view; 3. Instructs its President to forward this resolution to the Council, the Commission, EPC and the Government of the United States. Voted almost unanimously on 16th September 1993. sk ,   USA   (05.02.07)
Pollard didn't "sell military secrets." The US was reneging on agreements to share military information about what Iraq was doing in its nuclear program. THAT is the information Pollard passed on--information that should, by agreement, have been shared anyway. Ever wonder how the IDF pulled off its attack on the Osirik reactor? It wasn't just operational prowess. The US (and in particular Casper Weinberger) was WRONG. That doesn't mean that Pollard shouldn't have been jailed. But come on. By now, the only purpose this has is to "send a message" to uppity Jews, both American and Israeli, and to protect Israeli politicos.
23. Oops! I had a Peretz moment in my last TB.
sk ,   USA   (05.02.07)
I need more sleep. Pollard's info had nothing to do with the Iraqi reactor. Sorry. :-(
24. what? another big suprise?
jack ,   usa   (05.02.07)
Oh wait it was pretty much in line with how the clintonites did things. Dont like it? too bad....berger, albright, and the rest of them....wow I thought maybe they would have a little sympathy, but why did I ever think that would matter. As for Tenet, he is an excuse making little coward. Making excuses for his shortcomings, and now tring to "sell" his story. What ever happened to all the spies that the secretary of energy under clinton, Bill Richardson allowed to penetrate Los Alamos? NOTHING? Gee whiz what a suprise
25. This isn't news - I've known it was Tenet's fault for years.
(05.02.07)
Bastard is just trying to hype his book with "You heard it first here's".
26.
(05.02.07)
27. While Chinese were stealing our atomic secrets on his watch
AK   (05.02.07)
while Al-Qaeda was imbedding their operatives in our midst again on his watch that miserable failure of a CIA chief went after Pollard the greatest foe the U.S. ever had. Disgusting piece of s*** should be ashamed to even admit it. Not one Chinese spy was successfully prosecuted, and well, we know what Al-Qaeda did on 9/11, while both the CIA and the FBI slept. And that Clinton is a bold-faced lier is no surprise either.
28. 37, chana, Pollard was never convicted of treason.
AK   (05.02.07)
29. #9, Steven, surprised? we're keeping out own Border Guards
AK   (05.02.07)
in prison on trumped -up charges, while giving Mexican drug dealers immunity.
30. Tenant was supposed to have been on Israel side in negotions
zionist forever   (05.02.07)
Pollard has been in prison longer than other spies. If the CIA wants to do this with a brave face then call his release a parrol for good behavior in prison but take away his citizenship and eventually he can be shipped over to Israel be told you return you get locked up and the whole thing can be allowed to die down in public eyes. Right now there are alot of campaigners ini Israel and the US who want Pollard released and there are the likes of Tenant who dont want it to look like an American citizen is being rewarded for betraying his country. Release him take away his citizenship which looks like he is being punished and taking his citizenship if Pollard is told to make out like he is really depresed he has lost his citizenship then it looks like he has been given a permanent punishment.
