1. those fools must resign for sake of secure israel
reuven ,   usa   (05.02.07)
2. Livni and Peretz
jeremy ,   hula valley kibbutz   (05.02.07)
Peretz should resign. However, Livni is one of the best Ministers we have had in a long time, she should stay the course. Peretz the Putz needs to go back to the rock and hole in the ground from which he came!!!!!
3. The whole government should resign!
Avraham ,   Netivot   (05.02.07)
Livni is definately not qualified to be the leader of any party, let alone the country. She is the queen of surrender. Peretz & Olmert should go home before they destroy Israel.
4. Kadima preys on self-interest. Prays not for Democracy
Ben Temalion ,   Shiloh, MO USA   (05.02.07)
Kadima took power without being elected (aka Democracy). Olmert has never been elected to a party list to afford him a MK seat through Democracy. Kadima has never even elected its own party list. Lost wars except destroying Jewish lives is the legacy of the anti-Democratic Kadima. Self-interest rules in the oligarchy of IL's "democracy". So Kadima appeals to the individual to commit hari kari in the only manner it knows. Self-interest since there is no accountability to a constituency not only within KAdima but IL's oligarchic "democracy". The legislature should have a constituency. And the electorate should have a constitution to enforce its rule over the oligarchy, such as it is. You know the drill. They hate those that love the land that protects all of IL from those who should have their right of return to the penisular, homicidal Hamite homeland of their own to which they should have their right of return enforced. Kadima (et al) hates Democracy and eretz Yisroel ha shelema
5. Livni lost the biggest war we fought.
jewish mother ,   jerusalem   (05.02.07)
As foreign minister, Livni's job was to promote the obvious and desperate situation that Israel was in . Her "prowess" as Hasbara minister should have prepared her for this, but she failed miserably. She did not present Israel's position to the foreign media who used the Lebanon war to wage an attack of words against Israel. It was an oppurtunity to present Israel as the target of Arab terror groups and envoke the War on Terror that unites civilized nations, but where was she? What did Livni do during the war? Go back to Law, you'll be in good company!
6. what are they waiting for?
peter mochama ,   nairobi kenya   (05.02.07)
no one attacked the mighty roman empire to destroy it: it just destroyed itself from within. israel may suffer the same fate unles its peoples open their eyes and realize of this possibility. when a country has leaders who are fighting for personal survival subjecting the integrity and pride of the nation to international ridicule then that country is in self destruction mode. shame on you Olmert, shame on you peretz, shame on you Livni, shame on entire government of israel. a fresh general election is the only way out.
7. Actually Jewish Mother...
Khaled ,   Beirut   (05.02.07)
Livni did a pretty good job trying to convince the world that Israel is the victim. The problem is, it's nearly impossible to convince anyone that killing 1000 civilians in self-defense is justified. As far as most of the world is concerned, Israel and Hizbollah were both committing atrocities. And people who don't really know anything, tend to look at the bottom line, in this case that's the death toll. Not that I like Livni, but how can anyone explain to someone who knows nothing about the situation, that the victim is the one who killed 1000 civilians and the aggressor is the one who killed 59.
8. to #2, Jeremy, are you blind?
freejay ,   Israel   (05.02.07)
Livni (bullfrog face) is a complete failure and you claim she is one of the best ministers we have? WHY????? Are you nuts? All she talks about is giving land away. Not only that but she has tried to make people believe that abbass, the shoah denier, is a moderate and that the Saudi peace plan is good for Israel. What a joke!!!!! She should stay out of politics. No way in hell would i ever vote for her and if she ever manages to weasel her way as PM, i will have to seriously think about leaving Israel till someone decent runs the country.
9. jewish mother is 100% right
freejay ,   Israel   (05.02.07)
10. this is pathetic
mordechai ,   jerusalem   (05.02.07)
This is pathetic. I'm embarassed for the Prime Minister as he struggles for survival. Every PM once elected should appoint a good friend to stand by & always tell him the truth. It's a shame that Olmert doesn't have such a friend.
11. Livni a failure - right to resign but the wrong reasons.
rh ,   Ashdod Israel   (05.02.07)
She lost the propoganda war, which was the most important part of the war She is incoherent and is no Aba Eban. She took part in the decision making process of the war. She promoted the unilateral withdrawal which was the wars catalyst. A BBC correspondent mistakenly pronounced her name as Tipsy Livni and I cannot get that thought out of my head every time I hear her.
12. The Dime Dropped - Duck Soup
mike ,   jerusalem   (05.02.07)
the current gvt. would be perfect for a remake of the Marx Brothers movie Duck Soup, Olmert= Flywheel, Peretz= Chico the war minister What a bunch of losers! Oh yeah Tzipi Livni= Mrs. Teasdale and nasrallah the Ambassador of Sylvania hail Freedonia
13. It's sad to say but only Jews could fool Jews.
Takan ,   Eilat   (05.02.07)
The real Kadima was a one-Man dream, a one-Man show. A Man admired by Israelis and even respected (feared) by Israel's enemies. A Man with a Plan. The Man has departed and the new Kadima turned out to be nothing but a circus of opportunists with no real plans except for their own selfish sake, and have no clue of the task they have agreed to. Being an Israeli MK is not a profession like a waiter or a computer technician, it's a mission with huge responsibilities and consequences. Self-centrism and opportunism are the most revolting attitudes we can expect from Israeli Politicians. These speculators managed to hijack the deep sorrow that engulfed us all when the Man passed out. They sold us dreams of legacy and we were all too nostalgic and down about losing the Man in the middle of his Plan, that we all wanted to believe in their lies. Do not feel bad if you voted for the new Kadima, you were only human and it's not too late to correct your mistakes.
14. Kadima is Israel's Titanic
Marcel ,   Florida   (05.02.07)
Jump from the ship and her blind Captain ,Olmert before it sinks to the bottom. It has already begun to sink. Do not make the grave mistake of permitting someone like Peres to rule in Israel .It would be worse than it is under Olmert. Israel needs a strong leader who can say NO to U.S. interference and trampling of her sovereignty ,someone who is not AFRAID to defeat the Palestinian's.
15. What is The US 's responsibility about all these ?
Atilla Karagözoğlu   (05.02.07)
Winograd !!! Is it kind of WAR COURT ? *** In our near History, we had a PM and two ministers killed by our Military Court because of their failures. *** in my country, The Army is the boss. If they see Country in Danger, they take the control AND CUT THE HEADS. But, in normal days, They look like give report to the civilian leaders ! *** Democracy and Military ? or Militarily Democracy ! maybe Israel needs Militarily democracy. Atilla Karagözoğlu
16. 7: Khalid's happy, he found a new place to lie
David ,   Rehovot   (05.02.07)
We've run him almost completely off of Haaretz, since he won't respond to facts. Now he's trying it over here. "he bottom line, in this case that's the death toll." Hmmm, Israel's used to the war Lebanon and other Arab peoples declared 60 years ago, and we've built bomb shelters. That's somehow our fault? Hizbullah used their own people as human shields and that's also our fault? Then look at how much explosives Israel dropped and fired. Only 1000? That's a much lower kill ratio than any of the Arab Muslim wars across North Africa, Central Asia, Eastern Asia and, of course, here in the Middle East. The numbers show that Israel is much more aware of preventing civilian casualties than are the Muslims. More Japanese died in WWII than Americans. Gosh, the Japanese must have been right then, 'eh? Khalid's people declared war in '48 and are still in that State of War. The head of his govt said they'd be the "last country" to end that war. His people violated the armistice and yet he claims his people are the "victims". Yup, typical Khalid (or Khaled over here) nonsense.
17. Seriously David?
Khaled ,   Beirut   (05.02.07)
Well that's a first... I've been accused of being a terrorist, liar, racist, among other things... But I've never been accused of being someone else... You know there's more than one Khaled /Khalid in the world. But anyway. Don't go all defensive on me. I know as much as you do what happened during the war. All I'm saying is that the world doesn't see things the way you and I do (not that we see things very similarly), but most people around the world don't read about human shields and who started the war and why... That's too much detail for them. They just see people dying and get concerned. That's all I'm saying.
18. And don't let the door hit you in the arse on the way out

19. Khalid: Mea culpa
David ,   Rehovot   (05.03.07)
I'll do a mea culpa. On a quick reading, you're writing was very similar to the Khalid from Beirut I'm used to in a couple of other places. I was in a hurry and thought so. The problem of confusion and the proof of your difference is that your writing is very ambiguous as to whether you're agreeing with the claim the Lebanese are the "victim" or just explaining a third person. It's that ambiguity that I quickly read as you being on one side. On reflection, Khalid is never ambiguous, just constantly wrong. My apologies for the confusion.
