1. Awesome - col hakavod
Josh   (05.02.07)
Enough with the Torah b'peh excuses that allow Rabbis to hold power not assigned to them. That is used to put magic in the Tents of Jacob and reduce Israel's power against Balak type curses. It is about time people who know real-torah were promoted to lead Israel back to true Torah and the rabbinical structure (not mentioned in Torah bow out and restore the Levi and Kohen leadership. See the prophets who vouch that the Torah and the San Hedrim were corrupted. Enough with Kabbalah magic and structured incantations, give G-d an orginal prayer and keep the law of Devareem not to add or take away a word from that Torah.
2. Instead of Slaughtering Sheep Can't They Just Buy Shwarma?

3. fascinating article, thank you
Renée ,   usa   (05.02.07)
4. #2 No because koshering...
Josh   (05.02.07)
not mentioned in Torah either, invalidates meat as a sacrafice. Thus no one in any Kosher Jewish home could offer the meat they have to G-d. No sacrafice means Jews are now indebt to Hashem. The Shomroneem don't hold that the Temple should be fought over with the Muslims, but that the Mountain where G-d gave torah is the holy place to address G-d. Makes sense - no?
5. Josh- A few questions
LEE ,   NY, USA   (05.02.07)
Josh, I'm not learned on Samaritan practices but I'm curious to know, how do they know when the exact day of Passover is if it isn't for the fixed calendar implemented by the Rabbis of the Sanhedrin? I see that you're very averse to the Oral Torah, so I'm also curious as to how they relate to the Mitzvah of Tefilin? Does that mitzvah not exist by them? How about circumcision? According to our tradition, not only is the actual circumcision part of the ritual, but the pushing back of the membrane is required to consider the bris kosher and valid for the baby to have entered the covenant. Is that not practiced by the Samaritans because this is not literally stated in the Written Torah? What about justice? For instance, the Torah quotes "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth". According to our tradition, this refers to monetary matters of compensation. Do the Samaritans actually implement its literal meaning? If so, how would they handle a case, for instance, of a homeless man buring a house of another man? Those are just some of the many questions that come up to my mind. I'll do my research when I get a chance, but Josh, you seem to be a an educated advocate of their ways so perhaps you can answer my questions.
6. i see this people believe me and

It is time for the State to allow Am Yisrael to bring the real Korban Pesach on Har Habayit!
8. #6 Only a faker or an imbasal would say all Jews come fromEU
(05.02.07)
Rashid, so your saying you have never seen dark skinned Jews in Israel. Conclusions: You're ignorant, your'e a faker that lives in the US, or you are colorblind.
9. They look like Ottoman Turks their traditions are Turkish
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul   (05.02.07)
as well. For example that cooking style is already know in Turkey as Kuyu kebab, and We call Korban(Kurban) for arabic îdu’l-adhâ and nobody know îdu’l-adhâ in its arabic name, rather only know Korban.

12. nut jobs
yoni ,   jerusalem   (05.02.07)
anyone who thinks they can make up their own interpretations like these samaritans are obviously nuts. it is clear as day that the torah cannot be understood without the oral torah. many times does the torah contradict itself over and over . many times does the torah leave things totally unclear many times does the torah say "vikamta vialita el hamakom asher evchar bo" "lo tatur mikol asher yomru lecha" listen to the rabbis listen to the torah shebaal peh. anyone else is a complete ignoramus and doesnt deserve an article in any paper not even ynet.
13. Article Errs By A Month!
Jeff Chadwick ,   Farr West, Utah, USA   (05.02.07)
The article is in error, fairly gross error. The Shomroni passover is not held anywhere near Jewish Pessah -- it is held one month later! The Jewish Seder this year was on the eve of Monday April 2, and here we are a month later reading about the Shomroni passover. Get it? (By the way, the modern Shomronim holding their passover a month later than the Jewish Pessah Seder is related to the ancient biblical passage in 1 Kings 12 where Jeroboam instituted festivals in the northern part of Israel that were one month later than the festivals held in Yehudah and Yerushalayim.)
14. # 6, SHUT UP
also Palestinain   (05.02.07)
You're a shame, these people are part of the Palestinian community, they live in Nablus for thousands of years, and same as you have Muslim and Christian Palestinians there are also Jews and Samaritans! Learn your own history, I'm sick of stupid people and fanatics!
15. I do not understand two points
Steve ,   USA   (05.02.07)
B"H 1. I do not understand why the lamb is carried out after nightfall when I understand it is to be roasted in the middle of the afternoon, the blood is to be put on the doors, and before nightfall people are supossed to be sealed in their houses, as a sign that these people are truly free from bondage. 2. I am concerned that I am unable to properly perform the Pascal Sacrfifice because I am too poor to afford an animal and I am lacking in knowledge on how to properly slaughter animals. Instead, I go by the verse on the wheat for the field. That when a person is too poor to offer animal sacrifices, that one takes wheat from a neighbor's field (the edge of which is reserved for the poor), and one brings a meal offering. I buy guarded matzah for Passover from those who are able to gaurd their field in Israel as I have no wheat field either. It is the Matzah that I consider the offering for Passover. The salt is offered on the potato. It may not be as glorious as burning an animal in the middle of the afternoon as a recollection and declaration of freedom. But this is my way of remembering and charishing the freedom that I do have still to practice my tradition.
16. New sacrifice
hanina   (05.02.07)
Forget the lamb thing, I hate blood and gross stuff like that. I offer my car as a sacrifice instead. It's broken and in the shop with an extensive repair bill. No need to clean up any blood, it's already dead.... dead as a doornail
17. PROOF that the Samaritans are not Jews
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (05.02.07)
YNet is not mocking and ridiculing their customs, or calling them an obstacle to peace3 and a threat to democracy.
18. #6 - you were sold a bill of goods
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (05.02.07)
If you didn't understand that - it means you were lied to! Your own people have admiitted it. You Arabs are interlopers here. You came as conquerors in the 7th century and forcibly converted the population - Jews and Christians - to Islam. I wonder how many of you were originally Jews!!
19. #12 - "nut jobs" & "complete ignoramuses"....
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (05.02.07)
is how you write off these people's beliefs. You and your narrow little mind cloaked in the name of Torah Judaism" embarass me. Thanks ynet for an interesting article about a people with whom we obviously share common ancestry.
20. there was a story told long ago about
jack ,   usa   (05.02.07)
A "good" samaritan. Do you know it? They have been around for ages!

22. 2000 years of exile!
CC ,   USA   (05.02.07)
If Israel is to reproduce this sort of behavior in this age and day, after 2000 years of exile, of horror, pain and persecution...as a people we haven't learned anything. Humanity is more retarded today then it was 5000 years ago.!
23. #18 you're an ignorant too
Steve ,   USA   (05.02.07)
#18 you're as ignorant and prejudiced as #6. Wake up both of you!
24. #18: You have been sold rotten goods
Salameh ,   Gaza, Palestine   (05.02.07)
Either way, we the Palestinian Arabs are the owners of this land, every corner of the land speaks of its original owners, now whether we are converts or not, that is irrelevant, because Yvgeneys, Chayas and Falshas are strangers to this land, and will always be as such. By the way. Your north side of your settlement Bat Yam was Saknet Abu Kabir and Saknet Darwish, and Karton to your east speak of the Arabism of every centimeter of this land, I wonder if you can read !!
25. #24- are you typing from Gush Katif?

27. Tayfun from Tuyrkey. Kurban is also Arabic, or Arapca :)

28. #12- Samaritans are our brothers and sisters
Dave from Canada ,   Toronto   (05.03.07)
#12- We are Jewish Israelites. The Samaritans are Samaritan Israelites. They are our brothers and sisters. They practice a Torah based faith. Rabbi Akiva thoroughly approved of them, and said that their kashrut is stricter than the kashrut of the Jews. Are you or I holier than Rabbi Akiva? Since you think that the Samaritans are nut-jobs, I suppose you think Conservative Jews and Reform Jews are nut jobs too? I'll tell you what, I'll take the Samaritans or the Karaites any day instead of Conservative or Reform, since at least the Samaritans and Karaites believe in and practice Torah-based family values.
29. Samaritan
Brod ,   USA   (05.03.07)
The Holy Bible tells about Jesus talking with a Samaritan woman at Jacob's Well and visiting a Samaritan village. John Chapter 4. Jesus also tells a story about the Good Samaritan. Luke 10:25-37.
30. These are the originals Israelites
Nadim ,   Nablus, Palestine   (05.03.07)
They are Palestinians who are proud to say so, they speak Arabic as their native language. Not all Jews are semitic, or have their ancesters coming from this region of the world. Samaritans are anti-zionism, and we leave in peace with them since thousands of years. In fact, many families of Nablus were Samaritan who converted throught the years.
