2. OLMERT OUT
david   (05.03.07)
now and not later, you are a disgusting human being playing with the lives of the people of israel. Natanyahu for PM, he will set order and represent a strong, healthy and wealthy israel. Bibi made israel's economy bloom in the last 4 years. actually, he is the only one who did actually something in this government, the rest belongs to the trash can. amen
3. ALL OF US, FROM MERETZ TO MAFDAL & EVERYONE INBETWEEN

7. I am so sorry folks
Guy ,   Israel   (05.03.07)
All the 100 or 200 or 500 thousand. Your efforts will be fruitless. The only response you'll get from Olmert is the finger. He gets backing from all his cronies. Listen to Peres. He said today, "it matters not what the people say, Olmert has a Knesset majority". These people have skin so thick that it puts an elephant to shame. There is one solution only, to go into the Goverment buildings and drag them out. Nothing else will move them. If you think they are impessed by demonstrations you are wrong.
8. clear thinking and action withour elections
avramele   (05.03.07)
kol hakavod for all the demonstrators right to center to left. The message is not Bibi whose demagoguery pushed the government toward adventurism from the outside or Barak who after making his fortune is now ready to be a selfless servant of the people....nor Peres as zombies are trief. Let a new generation of the existing knesset carve out a centrist and sensible government with diplomatic smarts and defense savvy... and olmert, bibi, peretz can star as pundits on the friday nite talk shows or the international cable scene....
9. KADIMA MUST GO
SHULI ,   CLEVELAND USA   (05.03.07)
TIME FOR BIBI. WHAT GOOD IS A DEMOCRACY IF THE LEADERS WON'T LISTEN TO THE SENTIMENT OF THE PEOPLE WHO VOTED FOR THEM? OLMERT IS A DICTATOR.
10. Israel should be a "light" unto the Nations ...
Observer ,   Europe   (05.03.07)
... not a "door-mat". Israel cannot survive with anti-semites like Olmert at the helm - selling their birthright to foreign interests.
11. Thanks for correcting article -100,000 - Ralley Big Failure
Harry   (05.03.07)
12. The only thing Labor is good at is demonstrations
AK   (05.03.07)
Don't let those Leftist incompetents near the power -- it is Labor that run away from Lebanon in 2000, thus making the last war necessary; it is Labor that forced Oslo on the country, bringing terrorists next door to every Israeli and stupidly giving them international legitimacy; it is Labor and other leftists that destroyed the spirit of the country and made it their rallying point to surrender land to the enemy. But one must give it to the Left, when it comes to demonstrating, they never have any problems turning out big numbers, whatever the reason for the demonstration, high tuition, cold cappuccino or lost war. Just keep reminding everybody that it is the Labor party that has brought Israel to this sorry state and that the incompetent Defense Minister co-responsible for the last year’s disastrous war was their very own 'shining light.'
13. to LEBANESE
Alex ,   Rosh HaAyin, Israel   (05.03.07)
if you call all the destruction and unnecessary deaths of your people victory for the sake of Hizbullah, who dont care about you anyway. Anytime you feel victorious again, just walk through the ruins of Beirut and really ask yourself who is really a winner. My answer is NOONE. We lost people on our side and so did you.. I pray to G-d that there will be peace on horizon
14. kadima should be renamed to 'achora'
(05.03.07)
15. There was well over 200,000 at Rabin Square
freejay ,   Israel   (05.03.07)
I know because i just got home from being there. I have the footage and pics i took to prove it.
16. How about demanding punishment to fit their crimes?
jason white ,   afula,israel   (05.03.07)
There should be rallies in every city and town. Not all of us can get to Tel Aviv or Jerusalem.
17. >>> THE WAY OF THE WICKED...
Moshe ,   New York City   (05.03.07)
Our Sages tell us that this is the way of the wicked: at first they refuse to believe. When shown beyond any shadow of a doubt that they are wrong, they seek excuses. And finally, when faced with destruction, they blame others, and never themselves, for the suffering and misfortune they have wrought.
18. Will Olmert's resignation change anything?
Tracy W   (05.03.07)
I don't like the guy either, but the Left would love to have him out of the way so as to implement their own agenda (such as more expulsion of Jews from their homes now). The focus should be on a call for new elections. Nothing less than that. The mood of the country has changed too much since Lebanon 2 and the Disengagement. It needs new representation in the Knesset.
19. Failure, Responsibility, Deterrence and Change
Brod ,   USA   (05.03.07)
In 1973, despite being caught unprepared by the armies of Egypt and Syria, Israel led by Golda Meir and Moshe Dayan managed to turned the tables around and defeat her enemies within 3 weeks. Public outcry after the war led to their resignations. In the 2006 Lebanon War, Israel was only facing a Lebanese Militia--Hezbollah. The war dragged on for more than a month and Hezbollah still managed to shoot rockets at Israel. The war with Hezbollah in 2006 was nothing compared to Israel's wars with the combined armies of Arab countries in 1967 and 1973. Hence, the Winograd Commission Report is significant. It showed that the leadership failed far more miserably than Golda Meir and Moshe Dayan in 1973. A more serious damage was made on Israel's deterrence. The current public outcry demands responsibility, deterrence and change. Hence, Olmert and Peretz have no choice but resign so that once again, Israel can regain its deterrence under a strong and capable government. Through the process of new election, the people will make their determination on their government.
20. 100,000?
Khaled ,   Lebanon   (05.03.07)
100,000 only? That's sad... Lebanese opposition held a rally to oust our PM with about 800,000 people! And he didn't even have a report that blamed him for the war. I'm not sure what this shows though... Either that Israelis have better things to do than demonstrate for their country's future, or that Lebanese have so little to do that they demonstrate every chance they get. Alex, I hope your prayers are answered.
21. israel is gettin more weak
jacob ,   ny   (05.04.07)
i used to look at israel state as a symbol of democracy in the region To c PM supported by 2% of his people and achievin the most severe failure in the israel history still in office would just remind me wth arab rejimes surroundin! thats really so weak!
22. Bye, bye Olmert...
freedom ,   canada   (05.04.07)
God has answered my prayer..
23. they are protesting at the wrong place! BUSH should resign !
fadi ,   lebanon   (05.04.07)
he with CHENEY and RICE pushed Olmert the idiot to this misery and dug out this hole for him !!! So israelis go and protest infront of the white house ... it will be more logical than to blame it on poor Olmert !
24. Olmert's resignation wouldn't change anything for the better
Tracy W   (05.04.07)
if he is replaced by an even more Leftist member of Kadima. They would probably accelerate the expulsion of Jews from their homes, to start with. That's why Labor is so keen on Olmert's resignation. The focus should really be on New Elections. The mood of the country has changed a lot since the Disengagement and Lebanon 2 and the Knesset should reflect this. (Funny, I wrote this TB before and was censored.... I wonder why. This was one of my mildest TBs)
25. Ill-advised
Don ,   Or Akiva   (05.04.07)
How ill-advised, the reservists and bereaved parents allowed themselves to be manipulated by the right to bring down the democratically elected government. There's a reason why there were so many settlers in the crowd and Shalev was booed when he criticized the occupation. Dayan also trying to set himself up as the next head of a npost-Kadima centrist bloc. I'm no fan of Olmert but the failures of the Lebanon war were largely military. Apparently losing a war against a well-armed foe fighting on its own territory is the only thing you can't be forgiven for in this country. Madness!!!
26. So LOOONNNNNGGGG
Ami ,   USA   (05.04.07)
What took you people SO LONG to do march against Olmert and even Peretz? I have been waiting for you people to boot Kadima guys out since Sharon's collapse into coma?
27. Fadi's right
ami ,   USA   (05.04.07)
Israeli should protest in front of the White House. It is true Bush and his Arab cronies and his Cabinets are in it for Israel to be pushed into the sea, but still Olmert and his cronies are NOT fit to rule the nation!!! Olmert is a lapboy for Bush and the White House.
28. olmert resignation
alex ,   aurora   (05.04.07)
The fact that Olmert is resisting resigning shows what arrogance he possesses. He doesn't see that he is hopelessly out of his depth in the military area and cannot lead cause he is also afraid. The Israeli public should protest massively outside his office. This will scare him into leaving. He knows he is finished in every area, no one will touch him as he has soiled Israel terribly.
29. Silly Israelis
(05.04.07)
An overwhelming majority of Israelis agreed with the war. They are just as stupid as their government.
30. Israel Should Not Be a Banana Republic
Dave Levy ,   Burbank. USA   (05.04.07)
I am of two emotions. The war produced little of substance. Hezbollah still is strong (er), and near the border. UNIFIL and the LDF are useless, and can be told to leave on a short term notice. Then 20,000 Katys can against be fired into Israel, to Haifa, and perhaps south? Israel was obviously not prepared..it's army sluggish, and restrained from using it's arsenal of weapons. The back and forth politics also hurt the IDF. Olmert was handcuffed by the UN, and Condi, within days. This is all about politics at the highest of levels. I would like to know what Condi said on the phone to Olmert? But, if their is some reward, Israel should learn for the next round, whether with Hamas, Hezbollah or Syria. It must signal that any such war, will this time come out different. Israel, cannot find with one hand tied. Those who are protesting, really want a much stronger Israel, ready to fight and destroy the enemy. I don't think that is what Bush, Gates and Condi are striving for. Perhaps Bibi, who is arrogent with US, and not afraid, might be a good leader. Mofaz for Defense. Meridor or Barak, or even Peres, for F. M. Livni is simply not loyal to her boss, as has been shown previously. Botton line: Israel will have to formulate a foreign policy that is independent of what others think.
