31. The 2 rallies have different reasons
Michael   (05.04.07)
Last nights rally was about reaffirming Democratic Principles in our country. When the Prime Minister thinks he has no responsibility for his decisions then Democracy is under Siege. In 1982, it was aprotest regardng a policy made by the government. When a nation has a Prime Minister who No.1 priority is himself the country can no longer be called a Democracy. The Refusal of the Prime Minister to ignore the commission WHICH HE APPOINTED speaks volumes. To add insult to injury, he gives these ridiculous statements that shows his contempt for the people. One example, I'll implement the winograd commissions recommendations. Well, the Commission said you were a failure so by continuing how is he implementing?!
32. without offering an alternative?
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (05.04.07)
i suppose that all of the kleptocratic dictators in the middle east should also stay in power because there is no real alternative to them. what a load of rubbish that argument is. just goes to show that peace now doesn't respect the ability of the people to choose. have an election and the people will decide who they want. there's your "alternative" to olmert.
33. As usual the commies are against their country
Lednah ,   Europe   (05.04.07)
Their slogan: We feel best when the things are worst!
34. How dare you?!
Curious ,   Sweden   (05.04.07)
How dare you protest and try to over throw a democratically elected government?! wasn't that the entire world's reaction to the protests in Lebanon against the Saniora's government?!
35. And I slam Piss Now!
Avraham ,   Netivot   (05.04.07)
36. The Jews slammed PN long ago - they protect antisemites
Ignacio ,   Zaragoza, Spain   (05.04.07)
They protect antisemites here in Spain, and the advocate for iranian nuclear program. They are simply as Jewish as Saudi money tells them to be.
37. Peace Now - as thick as Olmert!
Kate ,   Jerusalem   (05.04.07)
Oppenhiemer, you quote that - “I do not adhere to the notion that if Olmert resigns the country’s problems will be resolved,” - shows just how deaf you really are. We the people of this country are telling our leader to leave. We're not stupid. We don't think his leaving will solve all our problems. It's not even why we are asking him to leave. We are NOT asking you to ride your white horse to the rescue. Our leader failed, terribly. He is inadequate and incompetant and we do not want him in our government. That has nothing to do with policy and everything to do with democracy. I'm not against your party or policies - but your statements here are offensive and unneeded and just plain wrong.
38. War Now; Peace Tommorrow.
David   (05.04.07)
39. #34: You are not too smart, right?
Lednah ,   Europe   (05.04.07)
In Lebanon a minority, acting on behalf and payed by foreign countries wanted to enforce their rule on the whole country; In Israel 97% from the population, acting on their own behalf want Olmert to go home.
40. to #19, I was there and it was over 200,000
freejay ,   Israel   (05.04.07)
You are right that you cant get that many people in Rabin square but if you look at the pictures you will see that the majority of people were on Ibon Givrol. Olmert is trying to downplay it by getting his cronnies to lower the figures.....typical Olmert tactics
41. Peace Now should be renamed
RobertK ,   Jerusalem   (05.04.07)
It should be called the Love Thy Enemy movement. Peace Now always beats up on Jews. They smile fawningly at Arab terrorists. The whole beauty of the demo last night was that we gathered there knowing that we disagreed with each other about a lot of things. We just agree that this govt. stinks, and that we'll pool our disagreements and elect a new one. Peace Now is incapable of feeling brotherhood with non-Peace Now Jews, this is why this doesn't appeal to them. The far Left consists of snobs who are ambivalent toward their own nation, this is why they so easily see virtue and a desire for peace in other nations, even when those other nations have no Peace Now movement, to put it very mildly.
42. #28 - and they gave the article center stage billing !
redmike ,   tel aviv   (05.04.07)
you can see my post #30 I agree with you 100% Peace Now is a very minor fringe group. It is operated by sad lonely people that are desparate for attention. The only way that they presently get attention is by continually attacking everyone and everything that is positive. The media need to just ignore them and they will quickly disappear. Why does Ynet (and sometimes others) publish their comments? I have no idea but then I don't understand why they ram Beilin down our throats either - Mike
43. #28, 30, 42 - I agree
ABZ   (05.04.07)
It's strange that the trivial and irrlelevant Peace Now gets so much media attention from Ynet. Similarly, fringe right wing groups are paraded from time to time on Ynet not only to be demonized (as some of the extreme groups should be) but to delegitimize anyone who is rightwing/orthodox/not buying into disengagement (the groups are not necessarily related). I think Tracy W has it right when she says the Left are panicked about new elections. I think the last 10 years, with the last 3 of most vital importance, have shown the fruits of disengagement, international talks, empty promises, etc. Some were inclined to think that once Arafat died there would be a moderation of the Palestinian political scene. What happened? They elected Hamas, an Islamic fundamentalist terror group. We disengaged from Gaza, gave weapons, money, etc...They repaid in Qassams, suicide bombers and kidnappings. It seems insane to me that we still have those who believe that all the abovementioned requires 'more talk/dialogue'. That only works when you want a resolution to a situation. The Arabs never have and looks like they never will want a peaceful and mutually agreeable resolution. They want every last inch of Israel. The left seems to think that by talk and concessions and bribery, we can all be friends. Yet, the laugh at our stupidity when we engage in these things. Disengagement from Gaza didn't make one friend in the Middle East or even wider world, just encouragement to give more and more.
44. Peace Now spied on Jewish communities in Judea...
Márcia ,   Brazil   (05.04.07)
Samaria, the Golan, Jerusalem and Gaza. http://www.frontpagemagazine.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=13470
45. "Peace" Now
Joe ,   Israel   (05.04.07)
The Peace Now movement has caused more trouble for Israel than most of its enemies have. It leads me to wonder if the entire "Peace Now" movement is not a fifth column placed here by the Arabs in an additional effort to cause our destruction.
46. #4 Tracy W is right. LEFTISTS ARE ON THE WAY OUT!
Scott   (05.04.07)
47. Oppenheimer is from another planet
Steven ,   San Francisco   (05.04.07)
and must have intentionally landed in Israel to do whatever harm possible. He is of the race of Cretins and takes his orders from Cretins from great distances. Doesn't he look Cretin?
48. #47
Eric ,   victoria can   (05.04.07)
I dont know about another planet, but he sure looks, and sounds retarded.
49. Oppenheimer - Hutzpaniac!
Adi ,   T.A.   (05.05.07)
50. Peace Now Is A Leftist Loony Org.
Not Jewish ,   USA   (05.05.07)
These Peace Now, Islamic appeasing, leftist nutcases fear elections because the Israeli political right would eat their lunch if elections were held today. The Jews in Israel have very little use for Peace Now as this org. is an enemy of the Jewish state. Israelis are ready to throw Peace Now's leftist comrade friends out of office and elect some real Jewish leaders in the next election. Goodby Olmert
51. "Peace Now" Irrelevant....
Alan   (05.05.07)
say your "KADISH" now....
52. 400,000 in 1982 - I doubt it
judy ,   israel   (05.06.07)
Peace Now loves to talk about their protest where they had 400,000..... Why if it was in 1982 did it take them so many years to pull out?
