You know, I'm a evangelical Christian who strongly and staunchly support the Jews and the land of Israel. I believe it to be the apple of Hashems eye, that he has an eternal covenant with the land, and that Israel is the only nation on earth that has a title deed to it, a G-D that has said he would protect and prosper the land if the people would obey his word. I pray for the peace of Israel daily. I know Pastor John Hagee, and he is not against the Jews or against the land of Israel. He has brought over 22 groups of people to come and visit the land of our G-D. He has defended Israels right to exist without having to give the land away, and has done so infront of powerful politicians who are hell bent on forcing Israel to give the land to the pals. He and his church send untold amounts of money to the land each year. He is a man who has studied bible prophecy (Old Testament) for years and is watching it come alive in our time and generation. And yet it always has amazed me that you Jews cannot or will not accept Jesu's forcoming in the Torah, yet you choose to condemn us for believing in what Hashem has said. Well did the Apostle Paul speak of you when he was talking to the religious rulers of his time. The message is still the same, just a different place in time. You can choose to Believe that Jesus is the messiah, or not. You can also choose to believe that he still has to come. The choice is yours. Hashem has said " I set before you this day life and death, blessing and cursing. Choose life that both you and your seed may live ." The obvious choice here is to choose life. Yet in reading the scriptures we find that there were many who chose ways other than the blessing and were therefore living in the results of the curse. Trust me, the American government is no where near to being a friend to the Jews as are evangilical christians. We will pray for you daily, and know how to get our prayers answered in a way that things will begin to turn around for your nation. What you are referring to on your list are not Western "values". They are simply part and parcel of freedom, and freedom is indeed a Western value, with all the good and bad consequences it entails. In a free society you can more or less choose how to live your life, all within reason, of course. You are not allowed to mistreat your family or anyone else; you are not allowed to settle disputes by using violence. There are no excuses for such behavior, and when people act that way, they have to face the law. I can assure you that there are lots of people in the West who choose to live decent lives and who don't like one bit any of those things that you name either. So governments enact laws against many of those activities and keep others under control, so as to protect all of us. On the other hand, when you live under an oppressive society, all those sins are hidden behind people's walls. Those who live under regimes that regulate how people live, think or express themselves, do not lead lives of purity and free from sin. On the contrary. There's plenty of evidence and not enough space here to write about it, but you know what I mean. In our case, to have reached this stage of freedom and tolerance, the West has gone through a long and difficult history of privileges for a few, abuse, discrimination and even persecution of minorities, the exploitation of children and laborers, and vast abuses of human rights. Every right and freedom we enjoy today, such as the right to vote, to own private property, of education for all, freedom of speech, of the press, of movement, of worship, the right to be treated equally before the law, etc., each of them was obtained at the cost of much effort and sacrifice by previous generations. So we appreciate and cherish each of those rights and freedoms and will do everything it takes to keep them. So those are the Western values that are worth saving. No matter how corrupt some segments of society choose to be, we still uphold our rights and freedoms.
