Don't believe one word these guys say and don't even trust them when you see them! Propaganda using an International smoke screen. The tides are changing and the International media is discovering they have been taken for a ride for the past 40 years. Syria wants beach front property - make no mistake! A leopard doesn't change its spots, does it?
2. Noone is going to talkback peace ?!

3. Syria want peace it seems , Duh !

4. If you want peace...
Uri ,   Croatia   (05.07.07)
... you don't play with 2 perons that are in violent opposition one to another. You don't shake the Ahmi's war mongering hand and then cry out for peace with country Ahmi swears to destroy. Nevertheless, some hidden negotiations SHOULD take place, yes, to feel the pulse od Syria.
5. Here we go again....
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (05.07.07)
More than likely Syria is just trying to gain propoganda points by claiming that it wants a peace process. Yet even if this time they really want "peace" it will only be at the price of Israel giving away the Golan. This is something Israel should never do.
6. syria
(05.07.07)
it's clear syria has no interest in peace with israel. what it wants is international recognition and better relations with the west to combat poverty and the fear of regime overthrow by the masses. syria is a poor, underdeveloped asd opressive country with nothing to offer the world and israel except as a hub for terrorism and assylum for the most notorious arab terrorists and murderers like haniyeh, mashaal and nasrallah. as long as syria acts the way it presently does, used by iran and other arabs to supply weaponry and safe haven for those wishing israel's demise and annihilation, it can never enjoy peace or international recognition. it can never be a part of the international community as long as it is a terror sponsored state harboring terrorists and murderous ideology. syria will have to take a stand at the end. do you want the west? or do you want iran and hizbullah? if they were smart on the political international arena, they will choose the west and damn their support for jihadi factions who will never give syria anything of value in return. russia can arm them to the teeth but will never fight their war against israel. they can have the best from the russians, but israel will be forever superior to their army and soldiers, especially avaiators and fighter pilots. syria has zero chance against israel even with russian and iranian weaponry. we are light years ahead of them in technology and they know it! when they attack, it will be because iran tells them to. iran also told hizbullah to attack and look what happened to lebanon as a country. it now lays in ruin. total and dismal with internal strife and destroyed infrastructure. syria will be stone dumb to listen to iranians' commands. syria has to realize that iran is using it for their own agenda. iran is trying to weaken arab nations surrounding israel and destroy them via making them declare war on israel, knowing that these countries will be bombed to hell. this is when iran comes in, offewrs monetary help and eventually invades these countries using proxies like hizbullah. and the stupid arabs are letting this happen. iran wants to be the only superpower in the mid east and is doing so via other arab nations. pity they do not see how they are letting this ayatollah cancer invade their countries and destroy them from within. if this happens in the future, assad, saniora, et al can kiss their regime and throan good bye. and this is exactly what iran has in mind by presently fueling the mid east against israel. reminds me of the bully in elementary school using his buddies to topple and harrass other kids, not giving a damn about those loyal to them but using them for their own agenda to do the dirty work for them. once done, these followers are seen as useless. no peace with syria before they 1. expell mashaal, haniyeh and hammas from their country 2. close all borders to arms trafficking from iran 3. forget about the golan returning. it's only an excuse. what do they really want with the golan except to place hizbullah on such a strategically dangerous post for israel. 4. cut ties with terroris faqctions of any kind then the world is willing to listen or even respect their intentions. until then, bashar assad should shut up and be a good boy.
7. Thry want to wash their feet in Israels drinking water
Kissel   (05.07.07)
The Syrians, when peace is made, want to come to the Kinneret and wash their feet before they pray as their ancestors did......... That's FIVE times a day. How can an Israeli continue to drink water that is soaked with their former enemies feet? I say no ti Peace with Syria, the price is tooooooo high.

11. Peace with Syria
Sam ,   Canada   (05.07.07)
We know what Syria wants. What are they offering in return that they think sceptical Israelis would agree to their proposal. How come the Israeli public never knows?

Belal ,   USA   (05.07.07)
Golan belongs to Syria, Israel has no right to keep it, end of story.... If Israel wants to keep occupied lands forever, then Israel does not want peace and only wants war for many yrs to come. peace is the best option for all now...... enough wars and arrogance of power, this will not last forever. things better change in peace than they eventually change in wars.....

Uzi ,   Haifa   (05.07.07)

opinion is what each party need to get and willing to give and for what future, this is the real issue. In most cases while facing a mountain of possibilities, choices, claims that interposed make is not possible to resolve. and at the end resolving one issue ( the heart of all issues to be determined and accepted by the biligerant first and certified by the international communities will make all other issues/problem goes away. I mean most of them. Good luck
19. #15 Coping with the real world
Sam ,   Canada   (05.07.07)
You deal with the real world if you want to get things done not with your fantasies. Did you really think that Israel is just going to hand over the Golan? Or that Syria will make peace with nothing in return.
20. #9...naive jim...wake up!!!
DR ,   Florida, USA   (05.08.07)
Haven't you heard the old adage: "When Arabs drop their weapons, there will be peace, but when Israel drops their weapons, there will be no Israel" This is the most accurate picture one can paint of the middle east.
21. Bull!! israel does not want to return Golan period
papa jay   (05.08.07)
Syria can be occupied by israel any day of the week and twice on Sunday. israel does not fear syria, they are no match. once syria has it's golan back why in the hell would they attack israel? to liberate palestine? come on, give me a break israel wants to believe syria does not want peace. Israel knows what peace with syria will cost, and they are not prepared to pay it. if golan is not returned then syrians will at some point attack even in a futile attempt to get the golan back.
22. #9 Keep on dreaming!
CC ,   USA   (05.08.07)
Golan belongs to Israel - deal with it - get used to it. Lets clean up the mess: Lets get rid of Syria altogether: Divide Syria between Kurdistan, Lebanon, Israel and Jordan ...how about ! Enough of the Syrian nonsenses! 50 years the Syrian Termites who destroyed Lebanon and are trying to destroy Israel.
23. belal: NOOOO more PEEEEEEEAAAAACCCCEEE!
sk ,   USA   (05.08.07)
Golan belongs to Israel, as does, historically, Damascus. Israel should be willing not to claim Damascus if present-day Syria immediately and unilaterally drops all claims to Golan. Syria has little to give Israel. Maybe next time it will think twice before making war on Israel. Next time, Damascus will be part of Israel, we can only hope.

Belal ,   usa   (05.08.07)
I dont see why not, every one knows it belongs to Syria, it is bound to happen sooner or later, so why not doing return it for peace, what's wrong with that. why you have to keep something that is not yours, and for how long !!! it does not make sense afterall. you are in a fantasy that will not last forever ....

no it seems to me, when arabs drop there weopons israel will be eager to take more and more. look how they carve more and more of the west bank every day. in Gaza they fought back to isreal backs off, same in lebanon. here's an old saying for you " what's taken by force can only be return by force" unfortunatly Israel only understands force, history proves that
26. did everyone forget already?
JACK BAUER ,   superpower#1   (05.08.07)
that syria was basically help run the nightmare that was lebanon and only left a short time ago..when it was forced to..only a bit before that under barak Israel pulled its support there for its allies..and then the cowards all fled leaving the territory to hizbollah..what happened then? oh wait I remember, they used it to launch more attacks..what do you really think will happen if the golan gets handed over? this is all a game played to convince idiotic internationals that syria wants peace! and discredit Israel for not giving them the golan back! Remember that they are mountains, they will be hard to recapture if it must be done again. And dont forget the price in blood that was paid to take them in the first place..both of the soldiers, and the civilians before them! Annex them forever! you dont see the poles complaining about their eastern provinces, or the germans whining about prussia, or the Romanians about the land siezed and annexed from them? Greeks had their lands siezed and annexed for over 1000 years..do you hear them complaing every day? Pretty much the only whining comes from moslems, and then they suicide bomb.. Well ok then be an eternal victim that can do no wrong..it just gets a bit stale and boring after a while
27. #19 Back to square one
Sam ,   Canada   (05.08.07)
You just said it yourself. Syria will give PEACE in return for the Golan. Peace can mean anything. The Israeli public wants to know what kind of PEACE they are going to get for the Golan - not empty declarations. Israel has fought wars for its existence because of the Golan. It's not going to accept a few empty speeches in return
