It will be very hard for our troops to navigate through there without casualties. The Arabs are readying themselves for us and have enough weapons to make things unpretty. I cant see what Israel can achieve by going into this rats nest called Gaza. Ok you can kill a few pali terrorists and destroy some weapons caches but think about the negative effects for Israel. The international society would again level all kinds of criticism against Israel. Organizations like the UN and EU would condemn your actions and so would most countries worldwide. And if the palis attack Israel you should give the air force free hands to bomb the entire strip. But Israel needs to be smart now. You have to build alliances with countries in the west and get a deal with the palis regarding the west bank. It looks like a big war might be coming in the near future and you need to be prepared.

B"H Gaza is trying to imitate Hisbullah in Lebanon. That means it is not necessary to strike because eventually Gaza is intent on a major provocation to draw Israel there. Peretz has a primary election campaign which is looking more scary with Barak on the horizon saying he would not be in the government with Olmert at the head. Count Barak as one of those who would not declare war even if more soldiers were kidnapped because of the political fallout he is jumping on right now. Kadima would not launch an attack without a political justification either because of its political standing which received little support from the last war. It is not a matter of logic, but rather political lack of backing for the last war results that now has Olmert shy to initiate another round. Where are the protests for military action to uproot this? There are none, because the Israeli public is not understanding that war was not the cause but rather the effect of not making sure weapons did not get in the hand of Hisbullah. Politicians are blaming the war (Peretz) instead of the one who would haved needed to monitor the situation more effectively (Barak). The press is probably not effectively educating the public, and the public is probably buying the newspapers of those press outlets that do not educate the public; who wants to send or receive bad news? But Gaza and Lebanon are very close. At least Israel has the advantage that it can still take action if provoked from Gaza. We would hate for Livni to set in another treaty with Hamas or the PA to have European forces in Gaza to prevent Israel from defending itself there. I think Peretz is waiting for a justification for major action before jumping into it, given the Labor primaries have scheduled to undermine Peretz and Olmert. All the alternate candidates undermine Olmert's policy even more than Peretz.

The way to stop the rockets, is for someone to pick up the phone and to coordinate with the palestinian side and run a joint Israeli-Palestinian patrol along the border continuously........ that will save a lot of blood on both sides....an alternative would be to deploy a Palestinian police to create a buffer zone themselves......these are true-practical solutions, but alas no one is using his head these days anymore...... and everyone is preaching hate and destruction from a far, while we being GRINDED by the conflict over here !
