31. World Bank: 'It's All Israel's Fault"
Joshua Frault ,   Madrid, Spain   (05.09.07)
32. I hate these pesky palestinians
steve ,   jerusalem   (05.09.07)
Last night I moved into a house, that a family already lived in. I put security men at each door within the house so the people who lived there needed approval from us Israelis to go from one room to the next in the house, security concerns can never go to far!; next i went out into their backyard and built another house for me and my family and started tilling the land (they werent using the land and anyway God told me its mine!). I'll let the Palestiians remain in the house even though they are so ungrateful, for now but for my security I need to know which room of the house they are in and when and they cant leave the house unless I need some laborers to help me build my house or pick vegetables. now I just dont understand why these pesky palistinians are angry and want to harm me, they still live in their house, I will sell them what i now grow in the backyard. They do know God gave me all this and plus I got a big Unle Sam who is my muscle. Now if I cant take this land and the money i make from it even though it don't belong to me, this pesky palestinians are hindering my financial success and my economic recovery and my peace of mind, where is the UN, where is the EU where is the world bank where is freedom of speech where is democracy ?

Takan ,   Eilat   (05.09.07)
The reports in essence are right. The Palestinians are on the verge of economic collapse. The mistake they make is to put the blame on Israel, when Israel is already helping its ennemies too much. They acknowledge the Palestinians cry for help, but don't want to report the hate and animosity they display towards Israel (even before Gaza the West Bank and East Jerusalem were retaken). Would you help someone knowing that if that someone could, he would just kill you? It's not even survival, it's common sense.

Belal ,   usa   (05.09.07)
you guys believe only what you want to believe. so if world bank says those measures go beyound security needs, you don't want to believe that. you occupy the lant by force, then prevent the original oweners from basics of life. wake up, one day things will turn around. if you dont make just peace (I mean, just peace) now. God help you in the future. no one can stay strong forever. I beleieve its a matter of time for the survial of Israel. stay with ur arrognace....

israeli ,   israel   (05.09.07)
I don't know who gave us this country, perhaps God, perhaps history. In any case, it seems that all of Europe (at least) was aware that the Land of Israel was the land of Israel, or they wouldn't have shouted so eagerly "Jews, go to Palestine" before and mainly after WWII the creation of the State of Israel. Get an education, man, instead of falling for Pali propaganda!
44. I hate those pesky Israelis
Avi ,   Israel   (05.09.07)
They don't appreciate the greatness of our religious of peace and the goodness we bring to the world. Every piece of land we get, we destroy what was there already and build a big shiny mosque and then call it ours, like we build a big mosque on top of known Jewish site (Har Habit) and now we calim that Jerusalem is ours and the Israelis complain? Why? can't they see the big mosque we build on their holly site? What do these pesky Israelis want?, the arebs have 23 countries, 55 muslim countries, three quarters of the worlds known oil, land twice the size of Europe, don't the pesky Israelis understand that it is not enough for the poor arabs and they need more land like the ancient Jewish state These pesky israelis are not happy that the so called palis get endless amount of oil money form all the arab world and weapons and support from the old Soviet Union and now Russia and Support from every despot and anti semite throughout the world like the UN. These pesky Israelis make me so angry that i will settle it the best way we know which is flying airliners into tall building and blow up trains and restaurants, don't these pesky Israelis understand that we are the religion of peace
45. to all pls stop being blind
Rimon ,   Palestine   (05.09.07)
step 1: have "Israel" stick to all agreements signed with the PLO including the Paris ...etc u must read all such signed ones. step 2: have Israel detrmine or outline their borders, can it be the 1947, 1967, 2000, 2005,2007 , the wall, settlements ...etc don't u see that Israel is the only such state with elastic undetermined borders. step 3: which terror u talk about, official Israeli state terror, children killing, house demolition and the list is endless. as for the so called quartet terms, hey this is just a mafia and there is no such international legitimacy, hey by the way if there is such legitimacy the same created your "Israel" can also creat a Palestinian state. hey stop your stupidity and get all your facts straight u idiot.
46. please refute this statement
mike ,   jerusalem   (05.09.07)
Will any pro-Israel talkbacker, if you disagree with this statement from the ynet article on the report ,please make a cogent argument why it is false: "Israel's web of physical and administrative barriers to movement goes at times beyond Israeli security needs and is aimed at boosting Jewish settlements, at the expense of the Palestinian population, the bank said
47. Why does the World Bank get to make reports?
Mush DeLeon ,   Brooklyn, New York   (05.09.07)
They are nothing but neoliberal money fiends, who see the world in dollar signs and nothing else. Before the W.B. talks about others, maybe they should review their policies in the West Indies, Africa, and other "developing" countres. The only reason they made this report, was because they couldn't leech on to the PA for more money. Damned be he who casts the first stone.
48. What The World Bank Wants-
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (05.09.07)
is for us to commit suicide in order that the Arabs can thrive. Once again, it's sacrifice the Jew.
49. oh my god...when will you jews stop?!
HEZBOLLAH   (05.09.07)
the jews in this website are the most stuck up brats i have ever seen. you guys are full of yourselfs up your a***s. READ THE REPORT. the point is that half of the palestinean west bank is occupied from isreal. lets not forget that isreal was called palestine too. and seriously, how many reports have come out with the same message? GET USED TO IT. you want the land only for yourselves, and dont give squat about other people living there. so stop whining for ONCE and face the truth, you done this to yourselves!
50. to #43, ? I love you #32
Belal ,   usa   (05.09.07)
No need for education dear in this case. it's a slam dunk case. all you need is some logic and fair and decent mind to figure it out. If you EU shout at you "go to palestine" that doesnt give you the right to go kill and drive people out of there land. By the way, My grandfather gave me the papers and old keys to our land and house in Tarsheeha Palestine. I will keep them foreverand give to my children. One day...that day eventually coming
51. LAPD Uses Foam
Dave Levy ,   Burbank. USA   (05.09.07)
Wolfowitz is understood to be Jewsih (whatever that means), and may lose his job with the bank., which has blasted Israel's roadcheck policy and other inconveniences to Arab-Palestinians. They claim it's created a desperate economic condition. Hmmm, I wonder if there is a nexus? Seems too coincidental to me. Perhaps Israel should follow people who shoot at them back into the villages, en masse., or mimick our own LAPD for much less severe crimes.
52. GUYS - NO MORE TALKING ABOUT PEACE
Saleem ,   Ramallah   (05.09.07)
The Israelis should know that there is NO MORE room for peace between Palestinians and Israelis. Israel has choosen to stay on a war status with the Palestinians and that's it, war is resumed. Will also resume with Syria and Lebanon, but then Israel should know that it's end is very soon.
53. So NOW the "Pals" have a RIGHT to employment in Israel?
sk ,   USA   (05.09.07)
How absurd. Given their massive financial aid (the greatest in the world per capita), they can't create their own good economy? And, when they fail to do so (because they love death), Israel has an obligation to give them jobs and deprive Israelis of these jobs? Leaving aside the whole terrorism biz, which alone would justify closures, the "Pals" have absolutely no right to participate in the Israeli economy.
54. "mike" (aka Mohammed) #46
sk ,   USA   (05.09.07)
""Israel's web of physical and administrative barriers to movement goes at times beyond Israeli security needs and is aimed at boosting Jewish settlements, at the expense of the Palestinian population, the bank said" Sure, I'll refute it. (1) The argument presupposes that the WB's assessment of security needs is valid. And yet, there is no reason whatsoever to believe that it *is* valid. (2) But let's say we give it (ha!) 75% credibility. The "argument" presupposes that a 25% risk of it being wrong SHOULD be acceptable to Israeli politicians and security officials who are (supposedly) dedicated to the safety and prosperity of ISRAELIS not foreigners. (3) It presupposes that closures can be fine-tuned to the precise extent consistent with security. There is no evidence that it can be fine-tuned. (4) More likely, there is some linearity at work: the more closures, the safer are Israeli citizens. And not just citizens in "settlements," but citizens throughout Israel. (5) It presupposes that so-called settlers--who are Israeli citizens--should be considered second-class and should have no right to be outside of the Green Line. Yet this is a matter for negotiation. Until that time, there is no reason whatsoever NOT to facilitate Israeli "settlements" in contested areas. Not only that, Israeli politicians are obligated to advance the interests of ISRAELIS FIRST. In other words, it is APPROPRIATE to take the security concerns of "setters" just as seriously as those of non-settlers. The "Pals" have had lots of time to lay down their weapons. They have not. Alas, this has meant that Israelis can "settle" anywhere in Eretz Israel. I could go on.

well, dear, it's not that you (perhaps in your case it was your grandfather)didn't do any killing - Hebron, Gush Etzion, the shootings, the suicide bombings. As to driving people out of their land - you know very well that the Arab leaders encouraged Arabs to leave in 1948 - "just give us 2-3 days and we'll finish the Jews, and when you come back you'll have what was yours and what was theirs as well." Also, dear, I am also entitled to a lot of property in Europe (except my grandparents never lived to tell me their stories, I had to read about the Holocaust to learn how the Germans butchered them), but I teach my children to go on with their lives and think of their future. You live in America, dear, teach your children how to enjoy the good life over there and build their future. I believe your grandfather's key will not open anything anymore today, except old animosities that you would do better to put to rest, dear.

what peace? when all you guys do declare war on us every day, try to infiltrate and shower us with Qassams. And oh, yes, go on fooling yourselves that Lebanon and Syria will start a war just to to please you and hand you Israel on a silver platter so that you can vandalize and destroy everything like you did in Gaza.
57. to sk (aka the slime king)
mike ,   jerusalem   (05.09.07)
thanks your post confirms the quote from the World Bank study.
58. #51 Dave - Mmm, you could be right

When the going gets tough, attack the Jews... It has worked in the past...

Oh, I don't "slime," mike/mohammed. I just say what I mean. Your vacuous "reply" confirms that when someone punctures your nonsense, you have absolutely nothing to say.
60. slime king
mike ,   jerusalem   (05.10.07)
you didnt refute the report quote at all, you confirmed it. i don't need to repeat what you said, read the quote and then what you wrote, the world bank couldnt have said it any better ...good job sk! WB ""Israel's web of physical and administrative barriers to movement goes at times beyond Israeli security needs and is aimed at boosting Jewish settlements, at the expense of the Palestinian population, the bank said " Slime king ".... there is no reason whatsoever NOT to facilitate Israeli "settlements" in contested areas.
