31. To #1. In case you didn't notice, the capital of a country
Adam ,   Jerusa;em, Israel   (05.13.07)
is where the parliament is situated. That is Jerusalem. It is the nation's legislative city and therefore it's capital city you retarded degenerate.
32. response to andrew (post 29)
(05.13.07)
I support 100% but tell us why aren't you in Israel and living in Florida instead?
33. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JERUSALEM, LONG LIVE ISRAEL.
(05.13.07)
34. Occupied?
david ,   jerusalem   (05.13.07)
Hey Europe! What you call East Jerusalem was "occupied" BEFORE 1967, by the Jordanians. After the Six Day War, we returned our eternal, biblical capital to her people. Where's the occupation? The Palestininans haven't been singing Next Year in Jerusalem for 2,000 years.
35. this is when you learn who your real friends are
zionist forever   (05.13.07)
36. "not on the ambassador’s timetable" - what a lame excuse!
Tahl ,   Israel   (05.13.07)
Had he wanted to, the ambassador could have easily made time. Especially since the this event was known to him long ago. The American ambassador has proven himself to be a schmuck. By the way - what happened with Bush's solemn promise to Israel, to move the embassy to Jerusalem? He gave this promise when he got elected in 2000! Has he simply lied to us? And whatever happened to "embassy watch", the organization in charge of making sure this issue won't be forgotten? Have they fallen asleep too?
37. # 11 and #30
mike ,   jerusalem   (05.13.07)
#11 shouldnt go calling people liars when you get your facts wrong, I don't know about the other countries you mentioned as having embassies in Jerusalem but the US has its Embassy in Tel Aviv and consulates in both West and East Jerusalem (hmmmm, think they are trying to make a point??) #30 maybe you realy do think "with these enemies who needs friends" if that is the case I hope you lobby your government to refuse the billions provided by your "enemy."
38. One of the stupid stories I've ever read
Jenny ,   Manchester   (05.13.07)
What exactly is the big? Why are the Israelis getting their knickers in a twist over this? Did they REALLY think that the Ambassadors would come and "celebrate" Israel's occuption of East Jerusalem? The world has never recognised Jerusalem as Israel's capital - that's why all the Embassies are in TEL AVIV. The Israelis were stupid for inviting them in the first place
39. SHAME on the US Ambassador!
Christian Zionist ,   USA   (05.13.07)
The majority of Americans, and especially most of the Christians, back Israel. We support Israel, and should be supporting this wonderful anniversary! Remember Hashem's promise to Abraham! G-d bless Israel this week and always. Go Israelis!!!
40. again and again...
jasmin   (05.13.07)
Israel wants to decide and all the world follow. as if there is no place anymore for sanity, rights and common sense. Being a territory taken during hostilities, East Jerusalem, as well as the whole West Bank, according to international law criteria, are under belligerent occupation.
41.  @ 39 Christian Zionist , USA (05.13.07)
ben ,   singapore   (05.13.07)
Thank you :)
42. VIVA PALESTINA!!!!!!!!!!!

gabriela ben ari   (05.13.07)
not to recognize Israel..... Muslims are begining to enjoy the end of western civilization in EU and you pray to G-d they do not take over US as well you delussional
45. celebrate what?!
mike ,   jerusalem   (05.13.07)
Jerusalem, a unified city? those two words "unified" and "jerusalem" don't belong in the same sentence. If it weren't so tragic it would be a joke. I have lived in 6 countries in various places around the world, most in the developing world, and I have never lived in such a divided, fearful, hateful place...all the more tragic because it is important to three related faiths. I live on one of the Jerusalem "seam" streets where one side of the street is palestinian (small homes, difficult to get building permits) and the other side Israeli (large palatial homes), one street down the neighborhood is all palestinian, rare trash service there! It is one of the few "mixed" areas in Jerusalem, though I use "mixed" loosely, sort of like how the Rio Negro mixes with the Amazon. Though outsiders may not know which streets are the dividing lines, every jerusalemite knows where he or she is welcome and where he is not, which street divides East from West. It is a city divided in the minds of its inhabitants, the wall circling and scarring the city is only its physical manifestation. Read the talkbacks here, the hatred spoused by all sides and then ask if there is really anything to celebrate.
46. Injustice leads to violence
Samy ,   USA   (05.13.07)
jews have to know that they are not the center of the world. we don't live in a jungle. if every state has to decide something and hurts its neighbors, then what kind of world? what would that lead to? more wars...injustice leads to violence..
47. #4 So right
mother of four ,   Israel   (05.13.07)
We are going to enjoy our celebration. If the world wants to boycott it, who cares. We are still going to celebrate. Am Yisrael Chai.
48. translation for tahl #36
mike ,   jerusalem   (05.13.07)
"not on the amabssador's timetable" is diplomatic speak for I'd rather have a tooth pulled and there is no way in hell i will be seen at an event celebrating a "unified" city that doesn't exist especially when my government refuses even to locate our embassy there.
49. Jerusalem Day Celebration
Brod ,   USA   (05.13.07)
Those representatives should be a shameful of themeselves for boycotting the Jerusalem Day Celebration. Since when did the Dark Forces become their masters?
50. every country in this world was born by occupations.
hypocrites!   (05.13.07)
51. #1 Israelis should ponder
Michael   (05.13.07)
First of all, Occupied territory ,by definition, is when country A attacks Country B and takesover Country B's territory. Jordan attacked Israel and lost. This is the first time in modern history that an attacking country lost territory. 2) Jews lived in Jerusalem and were driven out in 1948. 3) The world's religions can't recognize Jeruslem as a Jewish capital because it would go against all if Islam and especially christianity's teaching. Christianity believes we are a damned people. so if they recognize our Sovereignity over Jerusalem then how can the jews be damned? So your simple observation shows your shallowness of the situation. Maybe you should ponder?
52. to christian zionist
mike ,   jerusalem   (05.13.07)
to christian zionist, appears what I'd like to say to you keeps getting censorerd....so let's try something more simple.......US foreign policy interests in the Middle East should not be based on "christian" literal interpretations of the Bible.
53. Haifa
Michael ,   Haifa   (05.13.07)
Personally, I think that Haifa is more deserving of a "Day" than Jerusalem...far pleasanter place, more pleasant people.
54. Who cares?
Korem ,   New York, USA   (05.13.07)
55. Happy birthday reunited Jerusalem !
dd   (05.13.07)
For all the bloggers who doubt and deny Jerusalem being Israel's eternal capital city, you should note that all 16,000,000 Jews from Israel and the world over say that both you and politicians do not actually count. What counts is God's commandment of bestowing Jerusalem as a united city upon the Jewish people to represent them and keep it flourishing for ages to come. This commandment has been handed down to all of us through daily prayers for thousands of years now and nobody ever doubts it. So,It is one of our most saintly missions to keep it united and call it Israel's golden and eternal capital city. Only in this context, people of any other faiths are welcome to pray in Jerusalem. Any other wilful attitude towards our capital city, any political trivialization means nothing more than a hole in a twopence. No politician in this world can change more than 3000 years of history and no ill intent blogger can ever make a dent.
56. Time to bring back the annual military parade
mother of four ,   Israel   (05.13.07)
on Independence day. This Wednesday would be appropriate for such an event.
57. Heed the World? Or ha-Sheim!
Paqid 16 Netzarim ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (05.13.07)
No contest! The Netzarim recognize Yerushalayim as the eternal capital of Israel. The pope and Christianity are antinomian counterfeits of the Netzarim; and Europe and the US are products of Xy. It's no surprise to those familiar with Torah that the world is at enmity with ha-Sheim. Torah said they always would be (be-Reishit 3.15). With ha-Sheim backing us, threats from the world are amusing sport. Paqid Yirmeyahu Israeli Orthodox Jew Advancing Logic as Halakhic Authority Welcoming Jews & non-Jews
58. "28 charles
joseph ,   chesterfield.uk   (05.13.07)
Which Embassy will you be staying at?Hag Sameach.
59. Non Recognition Humbug!
David ,   Jerusalem   (05.13.07)
It is time for Israel to make it cler that Jerusalem is Israel's capital. It is time for Israel to demand that embassies move to Jerusalem and if they do not to stop dealing with Embassies in Tel Aviv or Herzlia.
60. Oh, BOO-HOO
Israel   (05.13.07)
There were actually reprocussions for Arabs having attacked Israel in 1967. Allah forbid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
