Jerusalem under Israeli rule, while not perfect has allowed all religions to be practiced with freedom of worship, and respect for all. Sometimes too much freedom. Remeber last year when there was a Gay pride event. In the end the Israelis decided to limit the procession to a university area only. I think it is the Israelis who demonstrated that they can guarantee the dignity of all 3 faiths in the city...in fact it is under Israel the the multicultural aspect of the city has been sustained and flourished.
I would hate to see the city divided, because even as an observant Jew, i feel there the G-d speaks to the Christians and Moslems as well, and their heritage in Jerusalem must be honored and respected.

Historically Mohammad never set foot in Jerusalem. There is no rational reason why Jerusalem should have anything Muslim except to remind the world of their occupation and conquering of foreign lands as they do with every territory beyond the Arabe Peninsula.
