1. left-wing "peace-activists" cause ALL OF THE WARS
Moshe ,   Beit Shemesh   (05.14.07)
Land-for-peace in 1956 (i.e. Sinai Withdrawal - let's be 'nice' to Nasser) gave us the 6-day war. Oslo gave us buses blowing up on a regular basis - before Oslo I could go into a mall without being strip-searched. GOlda Meir's "restraint" and "refusal to attack first" caused MANY casualties in 1973 - we didn't want to be the 'aggressor.' the mother of all wars - WWII - was started by "peacenick' Neville Chamberlain who gave Hitler "Land for Peace" LEFTISTS MUST GET OUT OF OUR LIVES - YOU'LL GET US KILLED !!! YOU ALREADY HAVE. YOU NEVER NEVER LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES BECAUSE OF YOUR ARROGANCE.
2. Syria, The Teror House, THE CHAMELEON
Atilla Karagözoğlu ,   Istanbul / Turkey   (05.14.07)
Since Years they have been giving great big supports to many terrorist organizations. TERRORISM IS THE NATIONAL CHARACTER, THERE. THEY ARE NOT GOOD FOR ANYONE. Soon or later They will LOSE ! The Politicians of Syria are OUR ENEMIES. We will never forget them. Some day, we will take them DOWN. Atilla Karagözoğlu
3. THE MOSSAD IS THE BEST WITH DAGAN
(05.14.07)
4. He's right...
Jon ,   Florida   (05.14.07)
As much as I'd like to see Israel make peace with another neighbor, I can't fault Dagan for this assessment. The failure in talks lead to war line is something that Assad himself has stated. If the status quo is more likely to keep the peace, then so be it.
5. Israel Addicted to War and Killing
Peter Morris ,   New Zealand   (05.14.07)
Reading some of these articles I get the impression there are factions in Israel who can't wait to have "another go". The purpose is not defensive rather based on ego to fullfill personal aspirations. I firmly believe that the nuclear card is only an excuse. Many in government just want to permanently keep surrounding countries weak , economically stagnant and internally in turmoil.
6. to #5
kobi ,   tel aviv   (05.14.07)
1: dont confuse iran and syria 2: so you think that the iranian president does not want to wipe israel off the map? how often dows he have to say it to make people understand? 3: israel is not addicetd to war, the arabs are. thats why the arabs started several wars against israel since it was founded.
7. Dagan see's Road Map to War
Marcel ,   Florida   (05.14.07)
Smart fellow ,this Dagan. I wonder if he has figured out yet where the Road Map is leading Israel ?
8. Is Dagan blood thirsty?
Alissa ,   Tel Aviv   (05.14.07)
9. Anticipating a "Pearl Harbor" in 2007?
Raymond from DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (05.14.07)
In 1941, Japan and the US engaged in "peace talks", even as Japan was preparing for war. It broke out of course on December 7 when Japanese forces attacked Pearl Harbor. Syria indeed appears to be building up for war, not along the Golan border, but in its interior and through its Hizbullah proxy along the Lebanese front. In that way they can lull Israel's weak leadership into diplomatic engagement. The fact that Israel during last summer's war chose to avoid confrontation with Syria - perhaps wise in retrospect given how unprepared the IDF was - has only emboldened Syria. They think Israel is defeatable, and that makes war more likely.

have been to new zealand and was not really impressed by the kiwi's intelligence. shame that your incompetent mind cannot see how well you represent the masses. read before you write or speak. you are cluless. i am not israeli nor jewish. so, believe me, i am neutral. but your "so called informed opinion" really stinks of idiocy and ignorance.
12. "Addicted" to war
passingthru ,   Richmond, USA   (05.14.07)
#5, take a look at what surrounds Israel. Iran supplies Syria, Lebanon, PIJ, Hezbullah, and Hamas with weapons and training, then orders attacks on Israel. You are blind and rather stupid if you think that Israel wants war. Nobody WANTS to send their sons to die in battle. Except the jihadis. You know, the ones that Iran is supplying with weapons and training.
13. Correct
enzo ,   london,uk   (05.14.07)
From the beginning to the end, this article is superlative. Furthermore, what Mr Meir Dagan said is highly accurate and condivisible.
14. #9 The Japanese envoy was conducting
Chaim ,   Canada   (05.14.07)
talks in Washington on the day the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbour. It was a diversionary tactic.
15. Dagan misjudgement?
Bernard Ross ,   st. anns bay,jamaica   (05.14.07)
"Although the Syrian army's Scud missiles could cause heavy damage to the Israeli home front, they will not cause Israel to surrender, and the Syrians are aware of that, Dagan said." They do not need surrender to achieve their goals, first to recapture golan. This does not mean peace talks will be constructive.
16. #5 Yeah, agree with the other guys here Peter
Scott ,   Australia   (05.14.07)
PULL YOUR HEAD IN.
17. Warning from the Chief
Brod ,   USA   (05.14.07)
MOSSAD Chief knows what he is talking about. Israel's government should listen to his warning.
18. AS long as israel keeps up the status quo.
AR ,   USA   (05.14.07)
They wont have peace. Syria will still support "terror" against israel. If israel would actually get into serious talks with its neighbors it would have peace but their is no way israel will ever have peace because for some reason israel refuses to give others a fair deal. A legal deal dont give me that bs about the sinai and gaza that wasnt your land anyway.
19. Israel Has No Nancy Pelosi Hopefully
Dave Levy ,   Burbank. USA   (05.14.07)
What's to talk about, so the old saying goes? Syria will demand the entire Golan Hts, right up to the lake, Israel won't accommodate. Once Israel is off the heights, Syrian army moves in, en masse. Any agreeement, like Kuneitra, will just be a facade for Syria's true intentions, to begin the destruction of the Jewish state. Who is going to trust this dictatorship? With the US out of Iraq, and a nuclear Iran, Syria will be sitting pretty. No, short of an overall agreement (not the Saudi Plan), any talks will lead to more serious complications. Israel has the high ground now. If one Scud is fired, Israel should take out Damascus. That is Israel's leverage. Once off the Golan, Syrian artillery will look down at Tel Aviv. No way, no how, should Israel send it's Nancy Pelosi to talk.
20. To #18
Howard ,   Chicago   (05.14.07)
If we are to believe you, would you please cite one case where Israel giving up land has resulted in real peace? A fair deal, to whom, the arabs? Do you think that Israel, whom virtually all the arabs want to see disappear should trust their friendly neighbors implicitly? I respectfully suggest you go back to school and study real history, not revisionist nonsense. Thank you.
21. #19- lucky Israel!
Cameron ,   USA   (05.14.07)
22. Howard i respectfully suggest you take an english class.
AR ,   USA   (05.14.07)
As for your question. Israel gave up the Sinai and has had peace with Egypt since. Anyways when has israel givin up land. Not isince Sinai. When israelis talk about giving up land for peace they always talk about land that they occupied not israeli land. (which is also occupied).
23. #22
(05.15.07)
i won't rush to send howard from chicago back to school for an english class when i witness your abhoringly mispelled words and gramatical errors as evident in your tb. enough said! israel gave up gaza. have we gotten peace or have we gotten bombed? israel left southern lebanon. have we gotten peace or have we gotten hizbullah? think about it. neither gaza nor southern lebanon were occupied for years and look what transpired? which goes to show you that when israel leaves, it strengthens the enemies in those lands and areas. when gaza was under israeli rule, the palestinians, before the intifada, have experienced a good economy, ample jobs, university (built by israel) education, less infant mortality rate and better health care than ever. arafat with his intifada, and later hamas have klled it the minute we left. the situation the palestinians find themselves in now is a direct result of us leaving and a murderous governemnt which doesn't care about the arabs using them and robbing them of a chance for just peace. israel will never relinquish land under these circumstances because getting the enemy closer to your door is a death wish. do you get it now? now rush into a non revisionist history class as soon as possible and sharpen your mind. do not criticize if you are uneducated yourself.
24. I dont sink to such a low level as to critisize spelling.
AR ,   USA   (05.15.07)
I told him to go back to class because he didnt read what i said. He made his own assumptions so i figured maybe he couldnt read. Israel did occupy gaza and lebonan. 18 years of war is just a failed occupation. Israel never fully left southern lebonan or the gaza strip. Gaza is surrounded by israel its as close to occupation without commiting the troops also some cities are occupied by israel still. Israel signed its death wish when europeans came and took arab and jewish land. Arabs didnt have a beef with jews. They have a beef with euro russo zionist. And i dont blame them.
25. #24, you really are brainwashed
Danny   (05.15.07)
Would you care to name some cities in Gaza still occupied? I think you'll find if you bother to read a book that the "Arabs" - or rather a rabble rousing segment of them - had a problem long, long, long before Israel got independence and certainly decades before most of the Jewish immigrants arrived. If Arabs didn't have a beef with Jews - and an arabic speaker would know that Arabs don't differentiate between Jews and Israelis - then why did nearly a million Jews leave their homes of thousands of years - and I mean actual homes as opposed to fake claims of ownership. Israel never left South Lebanon, well the UN doesn't agree with you and they studied 90 maps and not a single one says Shebaa is Lebanese and Hizbollah hasn't produced one map that says it is, rather their claim is based on the unsubstantiated claim that some of the residents pre-1940s paid tax to Lebanon not Syria. Even this claim was only made when it was clear Israel was leaving and Hizbollah desparately needed an excuse to carry on "resisting" because no "resistance"=no money from Syria or Iran=no bribing and intimidation of electorate=no Hizbollah. PS the majority of Jewish Israelis aren't from Europe or Russia. Try actually knowing what you are talking about before making a complete arsehole of yourself in public.
26. response to #6
phil ,   new york, USA   (05.15.07)
Why bother talking to idiots like that. Republicans of America support Israel, but not the Democrats and their left wing buddies, they would love nothing more than to see Israel fail. Besides the whole world and the left wing media, love to portray that America and Israel are the two biggest evils in the world so why bother?
27. Talks with Syria
