Moshe ,   Ramat Gan   (05.15.07)
Don't these religious people have anything better to do than chasing mitzvot and taking more pleasures out of life becaus God does not approve. Now wonder the religious don't go to the army. If they have to give up a life of epicurean magnificence, might as well live as long as possible while contributing as little as possible. Only the religious can ruin something as simple as a snicker bar.
2. Who cares ?
charles ,   petach tikva   (05.15.07)
Who cares ? go to better [ = true ]Belgian chocolate . You will know what "chocolate" means . Beteavon .
3. Very funny if they're now 'fleischig'
Yummy Mummy ,   Israel   (05.15.07)
ha ha(ONLY KIDDING! No talkbacks painfully explaining kashrut to me, thanx). Haven't mentioned their best product i.e. Maltesers, so we'll continue meanwhile to bring them from the good ol' UK.
4. AUTHOR DOESNT MAKE SENSE, SEEMS NOT ACCURATE REPORT
..............DACON9   (05.15.07)
WHY? IF IT NOW HAS ANIMAL PRODUCTS IT IS NOT KOSHER IF IT IS NOT KOSHER THE LONDON RABBI WOULD NOT SAY IT IS OK UNLESS THAT RABBI IS NOT A TORAH ORTHODOX RABBI. SO THE STORY IS INCOMPLETE OR INACCURATE REPORTING OR BOTH LAST PARAGRAPH IS THE ANSWER it’s possible that kashrut will be granted in the future only if there is a change in the ingredients,”

#2 Amazing. In another talkback you were moaning about the cost of kosher delis etc. My my, how you've changed! Belgian chockies??? Dirt cheap in petach tikva???? No they aren't, I live there too. Madly expensive and outrageous prices, but that's ok isnt it!!. funny man.
6. pathetic #31
william   (05.15.07)
No one's telling you not to snicker. Maybe it will even ease your constipated theories.
7. Naomi
charles ,   petach tikva   (05.15.07)
I said , you are right , that , where i lived , kosher deli's were expensive . But this was no a reason for me not to buy when i wanted a good piece of "gefillte Fish" . And here , if i want something , and think the price is "correct" i'll buy . I think that 30 sh. for 100 gr of Belgian praline is too much , for this price i'll buy 200 gr of fine chocolate of the same origin . There is a difference between much money and expensive .
8. Mars bars: $0.35 in the U.S., $1.75 in Israel
Antonio ,   Haifa   (05.15.07)
Who is buying them here anyway?
9. I never liked snickers, mars or the rest of 'em anyway!
(05.15.07)
who really eats them? there too expensive compared to u.s. prices and the Elit chocolate is just as good.
10. Nuts, raisins & chocolate are healthier than their crap
malcolm   (05.16.07)
11. This is quite problematic
Daniel van Dalen ,   Jerusalem   (05.16.07)
Why? Because you can get these things in all of Europe. (Note that the Mars package shown in the picture is probably an American package; the ones in Israel and Europe look completely different). You can get them in every supermarket and every small store on airports, railway stations etc in Europe. I have lived on them for a week, two years ago, while traveling through Poland. (Do note that the ones *made in Poland* were always *NOT* kosher; only the ones *made in Holland* were always kosher!) This is a big loss to Jewish travelers in Europe. Mars, Snickers and Twix were food you could find anywhere in Europe and which could easily sustain you for a week or so, combined with some canned vegetables and plain water or Fanta, Cola etc. I sure hope this decision will be reverted....
12. non vegetarian friendly
shani whitmarsh ,   England   (05.16.07)
Being a vege for some what 27years now I and my partner are outraged by recent news that some of your more popular chocalate bars are now to contain non vege whey, this is a real shame for us veges out there who love your products...is this not prejudice??? However not to worry as CADBURYS do and will continue to accomodate us, I will from this day onwards be avoiding ALL Mars product, I think it is a real shame what you are doing it is a decision I feel you may live to regret. Thankyou for your time one very disapointed X customer
13. snickers
avi ,   tzefas   (05.16.07)
$1.75 for snickers? I buy them at the local wed shuk for 3 nis each. That used to be .65 cents or so. I guess by next week that same 3 nis will be a dollar. sigh
14. chocolate suffers
hanina   (05.16.07)
if you are suffering visit hershy pennsylvania and get all the chocolate you want.

moshe ,   israel   (05.16.07)
Since when do the strictly orthodox eat Masterfood chocolate? The milk is chalav nochri i.e.. not chalav yisrael? What is weird is that in this case, vegetarians seem to be stricter than kashrut, and Israel stricter than the UK. Huge outcry by vegetarians over this new change of ingredient in the UK.
16. P.S. #11
Moshe ,   Israel   (05.16.07)
The picture is a kashrut label from Rabbi Weiss, Kfar Haroeh ISRAEL, probably nothing to do with mars bars. Ynet do this all the time. Their illustrations hardly ever match the spirit of the article, often demonstrating complete ignorance, and often, quite deliberately offensive too.
17. Charles
Naomi   (05.16.07)
You're not from the UK so even though you hope to buy your grandchild a ticket to Ms Spiers one day, you fortunately haven't got them used to a fairly regular supply of Maltesers from the UK as we have, you fortunate sabba, or grand pere. Only kidding, we love doing it, and will continue to do so PG. But the luxury of delicious belgian chocs is for rare and special occasions only. I find it so wacky that comments from all over Israel fly in on this subject, even from those who 'hate them, can't stand them' when actually, it only affects us kosher or veg. (ex)brits over here and there....TB's really are a weird mob...PS If the grandchild is REALLY young ( at heart too) a performance of our very own Yuval Ham'vulbal is as enjoyable as chocolate, even more so. At a nearby moshav today between PT and Kfar Sabba....Not Britney prices, and far more educational fun.
18. Mars Bars
Shoshannah ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.16.07)
As my father used to say: "Give all those folks an EMPTY box of Mars candy bars!" Guess he knew of what he spoke!
19. Daniel Yeroushalaim
charles ,   petach tikva   (05.16.07)
There are many other products you can buy in Europe , they are listed in a booklet , i've seen such one some years ago . But it's not easy , so , to avoid those problems stay at home .
20. #15
Daniel van Dalen ,   Jerusalem   (05.16.07)
When you're in Poland or such places, you have to compromise. I have lived in Prague for a year, also. It's muttar to eat it, so don't put any impossible chumres on yourself. I'm not going to travel around Europe with a huge bag of Edah food on top of what I am already carrying.
21. Who wants dead animal in their chocolate?
John ,   USA   (05.16.07)
Stick with Tasty Cakes, and Pringles. How many chew glycerin based gum? To me it is disgusting anyway having animal fats in the chocolate.
22. All vegetarians are descended from Essene / Nazarenes
John ,   USA   (05.16.07)
(humor on) Which is why they usually keep more kashrut, then Orthodox Jews. Its a spirit mind thing. Be blessed this day.
23. Naomi
charles ,   petach tikva   (05.16.07)
You are right , Naomi , i'm not from the UK but from ....Belgium ! My grandchildren have learnt to appreciate those delicious chocolate products , i always bring when returning from there .
24. DvD #11 and 20 your travel diet seems awfully unhealthy
(05.16.07)
25. Thoughts for you to ponder (before I rush to work)?
John ,   USA   (05.16.07)
When will Jacob go to Esau? When his lion lies down with his lamb. When the physical meets and complies with the spiritual. Meat makes the mind heavy. "Fear brings to prejudice the contents of the mind"
26. #20
Moshe   (05.16.07)
Maybe the Eidah uses up all its chumras on the magnifying glass to examineand then burn women's clothes. When its very hot in Europe can the ladies of the eidah, wear short sleeves, or are those chumras different.... I dont think the large and active lubavtch group in Prague eat mars bars to keep going. I'll ask them soon.
27. #26 Moshe....
Daniel van Dalen ,   Jerusalem   (05.16.07)
Large and active? One shliach with his wife and children. One shliach without wife and chilren (they only arrived later). One Israeli family who were living in Prague for a few years. That's a whole 2,5 families. Guess your definition of "large and active group" differs from mine, or perhaps a lot changed since I was there... Also, when I was there, there was no kosher restaurant and 1 bakery selling kosher bread (and the only kosher bread there was of a type which I thorougly disliked but was forced to eat for 7 months). Please don't speak if you don't know what you're talking about, Mr Holier-Than-Thou.
28. Daniel van Dalen . About Prague
charles ,   petach tikva   (05.16.07)
You are WRONG . Look at Jewish virtual library . Prague : 1700 people associated with the Jewish community . Revival occur . There are 7 Synaguoges working there . Before telling someone that he don't knows what he's talking about , look at a mirror .
29. #8 $0.35?!?!?!?
Dan ,   USA   (05.16.07)
Maybe in 1960.
30.  Mr D
Moshe   (05.16.07)
Lubavitch do wonderful work in the university and bring guest lecturers and professors from here to there all the time. They come back amazed at the enthusiasm and what has been achieved. Till now, no one mentioned food, so I assume they cope, as these amazing people always do, thinking of others, and not their own bellies. Quality not quantity is what I was referring to. Ess mein kind ( a yiddish phrase with tones of 'betayavon') without FOOD chumras of course. Ladies clothes chumras, now that's a different yet burning matter apparently. Holier that you Mr D? No way! I couldn't think of anything worse, thanks. Enjoy the closing atmosphere of Yom Yerushalayim. The Giv'at Hatachmoshet ceremony was wonderful.
