Do you honestly belief that the Government, Cabinet, etc, will give the OK to reply harshly ? They have cried "wolf" too often. Olmert/Peretz/Livni think by not attacking Gaza they will keep Hamas and Fatah at odds with each other. But that is nonsense because a day will come when tens if not hundreds of children and people in general in Sderot will be killed from Quassams when it will finally show the ineptness and cowardice of the Government. The US is micromanaging Israeli defense policy. Israel is not allowed to sneeze without Bush's and Rice's approval. And they in turn need to consult with the Saudis. That is the painfully sad reality these days. And is the US really supporting Israel? Against the IDF's better judgment, the US is restraining Israel from retaliating against the Gazans. Maybe the American public is not well aware of this situation and blames the Israelis for their inaction. But there is more to the story. And is the American government such a good friend? The US is drawing up plans right now so that the Saudis can have an air force that's just as powerful as Israel's. That's the real alliance.
