1. MEDIA & WORLD REACTION SICKENING ,BUT NO SURPRISE
(05.17.07)
2. Don't worry, we know what's happening
Neil Turner ,   Watford, UK   (05.17.07)
Christians in the UK know what's happening right now in Israel, and we are praying for the people of Sderot and Ashkelon. We don't rely on the BBC, CNN, Sky etc, but get our news from Ynet, Jerusalme Post and Honest Reporting websites.
3. this is antisemitism
Edmond ,   London UK   (05.17.07)
The same is the case in the UK There was no tv coverage of the missiles landing in sderot, only of the israeli retaliation. But that isnt all, the Guardian yesterday claimed that tehre had been no injuries fromthe kassam missiles in sderot.
4. write to editors
MK ,   Rockville, USA   (05.17.07)
This article is exactly right. I had already written to the NY Times to complain. Please write to your favorite paper about this!
5. Let's be honest with ourselves.
LEE ,   NY, USA   (05.18.07)
If the people in Tel Aviv don't care about qassams falling on Sderot, why should the rest of the world? I have spoken with a few people who live in Tel Aviv and they really don't seem too concerned. Its a shame, its a disgrace, and let's be honest with ourselves, we're the ones to blame. After all, look at how our "courageous leaders" are acting. They don't seem to be too concerned themselves. May G-d help us.
6. Rubbish #3
Russ ,   Coventry UK   (05.17.07)
What rubbish, the rockets have been covered as has the violence in Gaza and all BEFORE Israel launched airstrikes. BBC ITV Channel4 BBC24 Sky news all have been following this, have you tried plugging in your TV Edmond before watching?
7. Recomend writing protest letters, mainly to BBC !
Alberto Cohen ,   Rio de Janeiro   (05.18.07)
Discusting bias position toward Israel. For the past few days, until Israel decided to retaliate, only point BBC highliighted was: Arab assassination by French Jews and Israel settler Policy in Jerusalem. NOT A SINGLE WORD ABOUT KASSAMS !
8. Qassams ignored abroad
Jon Stoddard ,   tucson, az   (05.18.07)
Solution: Use google maps, pin point where every qassam rockets land, send out link, press releases. To every one.
9. Since when did the world worry about the Jews?
(05.18.07)
not then and certainly not now. We worry for oursleves.
10. message to Israel is Clear!
Bhaskar ,   Canada   (05.18.07)
If you Israelis just sit back, World does not appreciate you. If you hit back the terrorists, punch them really hard, World Admires you!
11. Would they ignore sopping Palestinian victim stories too?
Tahl ,   Ashdod, Israel   (05.18.07)
It's all right if the world media decides to ignore the tragedy of Sderot. But in that case, if they want to maintain their integrity, impartiality, and credibility – they must also ignore all the sopping Palestinian victim stories, from supposed IDF fire. And certainly not blow up some ludicrous Palliwood lies, such as Muhammad Dura or that family killed on the beach. Either be a meticulous, thorough journalist, and cover BOTH sides in details, or be a lazy journalist and cover NEITHER. The worst possible thing to do, is to bring one side of the story and ignore the other.
12. BBC reporting
Vorax   (05.18.07)
Here is how Mathew Price does it, literally: 1) IAF air survelliance footage - kassam crew car is hit by the rocket 2) hamas building hit, the same way 3) on the ground in Gaza - raised dust, smoke, rubble, bleeding people (all unarmed) 4) bleeding Arabic woman taken to ambulance 5) Israeil tanks and infantry entering Gaza. Big guns moving, tracks battering Palestinian soil. 6) Correspondent starts talking something about Arab on Arab violence.. but then unexpectedly says "Israel is not immune from it, as well" 7) house in Sderot, hit by kassam 8) bleeding Israeli woman taken to ambulance More looks to me as Hamas propaganda clip than unbiased reporting.
13. #6 Russ
Tuvia Fogel ,   Milan, Italy   (05.18.07)
British TV channels may have covered Kassams and the infighting in Gaza, but Italy's premier newspaper, Il Corriere della Sera, not only had no article on the missiles, it even ignored 30 dead in 3 days in Gaza (not one word in Wednesday's issue, paper or web) because they were killed by other Palestinians. Where I live, Russ, dead Arabs are only news if killed by Jews. Welcome to Eurabia, baby!
14. It is our fault
Daniel ,   Israel   (05.18.07)
"Qassams ignored abroad" It is our fault, we don't make enough noise that world should hear. For example see the photographs of "Sderot residence damage" on this news it self; the neighbors are coolly standing in the compound of damaged house. On the other hand see the photograph of Palestinians; all that noise sly smiles etc; the strategy (theirs and ours) is paid by world noticing them and not us!
15. No Coverage Abroad
Vicki ,   Kadima, Israel   (05.18.07)
Excellent article, I wrote to Sky News yesterday complaining about their lack of coverage. I had been scouring their web site all to no avail, and could only find coverage about the Maddie the child abducted. They wrote back saying that they were covering it, which was absolute bull. ONLY AFTER we went into Gaza they decided to write about it. Then to make matters worse their reporting was bias and completely incorrect, saying we had gone implying that it was only a couple of rockets and that only 2 people had been injured, making out that we were the heavies. It just makes me sick, that we sit here like lambs to the slaughter, the palestinians get all the good press. We are pathetic in making sure our side of the story is out there.
16. # 7 Protest BBC...Are you NUTS???
malcolm   (05.18.07)
The more you protest the more they know they're doing their Jew/Israel hate job.
17. what the BBC would say
Dr. Leon ,   Tzfat, Israel   (05.18.07)
Today, Iran detonated its first nuclear bomb, famine and AIDS are raging in Africa, Russia is slaughtering the Chechens, but first to our MAIN story. An Israeli threw a piece of chewing gum into Gaza today ! Since it appeared to have been chewed already it is being considered an act of biological warfare and a violation of the Geneva Convention. An emergency meeting of the UN security council, headed this month by Syria, is now underway.
18. IDF
ben ,   singapore   (05.18.07)
Terrorise the Terrorist !
19. if olmert does not care, why should the world?
chaim schonbrun ,   brooklyn n.y   (05.18.07)
if our own criminaly insane, traitorous incompotent wimp, prime minister does not care, why should the world care? remmember, that old senile fool, peres ,saying a few months ago, whats the hysteria about quasams shmasams well if shimon peres thinks its a joke then why should the world care?
20. news
colin ,   israel   (05.18.07)
So what is new??History shows that only when the minority fights back is it worth reporting as new.Remember the biblical story of David and Goliath,-or Samson and Delila .How about modern news The Europeans against the Jews in the HOLOCAST.Maybe the Best firght back was the white AMERICANS against the black slaves. All these actions were unknown(Intentionally) to the press or the advertising until the losers fought back.Only when the little nation of jews takes on the oil rich arabs is it worth journalistic time.Only after 6 million jews were killed by Europe did the liberation forces believe he story.Only when the blacks of america kicked the USA were they accepted as people. As in the bible with samson and david.NOBODY CARES ..
21. True but overseas wars are treated the same
Terri ,   USA   (05.18.07)
Take Africa/The Congo - millions of people have been killed with daily warfare over the last several years, but no one cares. The geographic scope of these wars is huge. In Israel, no one cares if a rocket hits an individual every few days, they only care when their interests (ie their pocketbook) is affected.
22. biased
Richard- Goj ,   Holland   (05.18.07)
Press is biased generally. A favorable exception this time in my country ( Holland): The public here is well aware of the constant rain of Qassam rockets on Sderot.
23. Arest a Palestinian terrorist and the world will react!
Hanna   (05.18.07)
or maybe Israelis should catch a Palestinian terrorist and show him in front of TV reporters. They can say: "Hamas must stop firing kassams or we will behead this man. " Then the whole world will start noticing the issue. Although they will not care about Israel and instead will blame Israel but at least our voice will be heared. The world has much respect for Terrorists. maybe then they will respect and love us, too. as long as we dont' kill and hate we are hated. why aren't there any anti-war demonstrations by leftists?
24. Media ignore kassams as they ignored katyushas in the 1970s
bob kirk ,   Los Angeles USA   (05.18.07)
The media's ignoring and downplaying of incessant Palestinian rocket attacks from Gaza into Sderot mirrors their pattern of under-reporting on Katyushas fired from Lebananon at Kiryat Shmona in the 1970s. The Lebanon war which resulted was of course closely covered by the media. Now, as then, the media's primary concern is not the safety of Israeli civilians but only Israeli responses to such attacks. There are two explanations. Firstly anti-semitism masked as overwhelming concern for those attacking the Jews of Israel and secondly, the often uncritical acceptance by the Western media of Arab propaganda against Israel. This too is, ultimately, anti-semitism compounded by ignorance and indifference. It is, though, the job of Israel and its representatives to contiunally press the media to report on the Palestinian attacks since it is clear that the media only take note when Israel responds thus fulfilling the paradigm of Israel the 'Goliath' hitting the Palestinian 'David'. Without that model of the conflict the media are lost. Don't expect any big changes soon.
25. To #5
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (05.18.07)
I've had a similar experience, when, during Lebanon ll, I offered my daughter's and my house as a place of refuge to two families, cats and dogs included, if the need should arise. "Aw, that's way up north" or "it doesn't affect us. That's way down in the south." When I looked at a map of Israel, that "way up" and "way down" didn't look much further than the GA-FL state line. I didn't understand the attitude, but attributed it to "different strokes for different folks." I know this much: If somebody blasted North Dakota or Washington State, thousands of miles from me, I'd be jumping up and down, cussing like a sailor and digging serious holes in the back yard to bury "the good stuff." Those States are a part of my country, and it most certainly would affect me. I've seen one war up close and personal, and I know how quickly that way over wherever can end up at one's front door. There is no too soon to look for places of safety.
26. Take advantage of lack the of coverage...
RCA ,   USA   (05.18.07)
to do the job that Israel must. Israel must defend itself. SHOOT FIRST and ASK QUESTIONS LATER.
27. Foreign News Coverage
Margot ,   Texas, USA   (05.18.07)
The biased foreign news coverage is why I do not buy a single European import now (I used to purchase them nearly exclusively) and I won't travel to Europe. I used to go at least once a year. No more. Boycott the UK, BBC, and The Guardian. Boycott travel and products.
28. BBC - Ignores and Misrepresents Situation in Gaza
Lea Anne ,   Texas   (05.18.07)
The BBC--as usual--has an article stating that Israel strikes Gaza. The article implies that Israel just decided to bomb them. No mention of the 50 Qassams that hit Israel today, or the hundreds that have been falling daily. Folks wake up; you cannot get news from the BBC, only propaganda.
29. AMERICA IS AT THE MALL
Ben Hur ,   Manhattan, USA   (05.18.07)
30. No Arab Ghandhi.
Jeff ,   Cherry Hill NJ USA   (05.18.07)
Since no Jewish blood is spilled, complaining to BBC/CNN/NYT is a waste of time. If someone would stop the smuggling of weapons (Olmert, Rice, Abbas, Haniyah), then every one they fire would mean one less. The government must act quickly and smartly by remote control against the rockets smuggled, stored and launched. Also, fill the Philadelphi Route with a seawater canal. Don't whine. Just keep up the pressure until an Arab Ghandi (preferrably female) speaks up.
