61. #17 When a part of your body is blown up by an Arab
Bill ,   USA   (05.21.07)
terrorist please come here to tell us how it feels. The Jews must survive at any price. Israel is not Europe where your European ancestors could round the Jews up and gas them.
62. They are teenagers, no better or worse than from other place
David ,   Boston, USA   (05.21.07)
Give me a break. Have anything better to write? I see stories about teens all the time in US, Europe, Israel, EVERYWHERE. Some display proper behavior, others dont.
63. Face reality! Hitler turned Poland into a death camp
Gabriel ,   USA   (05.21.07)
because he knew that the Poles hated the Jews. He did not turn Denmark into the death camp because unlike Poland the Jews in Denmark were not hated. The hatred and viciousness of the Catholic Poland toward the Jews who did not convert into Christianity is well known.
64. The Polish anti-Semites want the Israelis to behave like
Hey Poland! ,   USA   (05.21.07)
Jews in Poland used to behave. The Jews in Poland were timid and quite. They obediently marched into the gas chambers. So, they were rounded them up and put them on the trains to death. The Poles must realize that those days are gone. Stop longing for a timid, freightened Jew! This is not 1941. You will never have an upper hand the way your greatgrandparents and grandparents had. The Jews are not afraid any longer!!!
65. Poland is traditionally hateful of Jews!
Garry ,   USA   (05.21.07)
That is how it has been in Poland. That is the Polish reality!
66. all counties
ken   (05.21.07)
experience rowdyism when teenagers take trips. Poland is the only one that complains that I have seen in mainstream media. This unique situation suggests to me that the trips should stop and alternative measures be used to achieve the desired educational results. No sense going somewhere one is obviously not welcome. Check again in a decade and see if Poland has grown up by then enough to realize this kind of behaviour is NOT confined to their towns nor to Israeli teenagers.
67. Oh...the typical Polish excuse is tiring!
(05.21.07)
They always keep on saying that they have suffered from the Germans and were not in charge. The Poles must save that crap. Poland is still an anti-Semitic, hateful country. When 99.9% of Poles are exterminated and somebody gives them an explanation we will see how they feel.
68. #17 You ugly creature came to this area
Typical Euro ,   USA   (05.21.07)
with a pre-conceived idea. Your eyes only see the red and the green (the colors of the Palestinian banner). You don't know that every hour on the hour the Arab terrorists are planning another attack to kill the innocent Jews. Israel is not Sweden bordering on Finland and Norway. Israel is surrounded by the Arabs who want to see every Jewish man, woman and child dead. The only Jewish fault that Jews want to remain alive which is a new concept for a European. Had the Jews had Israel in 1939 the majority of Jews would not have been wiped out.
69. to Gabriel - Israeli scholar says something very different
Justine   (05.21.07)
You are repeating a stupid, slanderous and unproven opinion. Israeli scholars have a different view Excerpt from interview with Professor David Bankier, Institute of Contemporary Jewry, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem December 17, 1997, Yad Vashem, Jerusalem Interviewers: Amos Goldberg and Adi Gordon http://www1.yadvashem.org/Odot/prog/index_before_change_table.asp?GATE=Z&list_type=2-51&type_id=4&total=N Q- Does the fact that the "Final Solution" took place in the East say anything about the nations of Eastern Europe? B- No, it has to do with the concentration of Jews. Had there been a larger concentration of Jews in the Balkans, the extermination would have taken place there. Since most of the Jews were in Poland and Russia, the main killing centers were in those areas.
70. to 67
Justine   (05.21.07)
"They always keep on saying that they have suffered from the Germans and were not in charge." Because it's true. "Poland is still an anti-Semitic, hateful country. " Any data? Surveys? Research? I'm tired of vague opinions...
71. to 64 - trashing hotel rooms is your idea of bravery?
Justine   (05.21.07)
"The Jews in Poland were timid and quite. They obediently marched into the gas chambers. " I find it rather sad that you never heard of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising. First such uprising in occupied Europe, you know. "Stop longing for a timid, freightened Jew! This is not 1941. You will never have an upper hand the way your greatgrandparents and grandparents had." Oh, so trashing hotel rooms 60 years after the ending of the war is an act of courage. That's your idea of bravery. I have a feeling that Marek Edelman (the last living leader of the Ghetto Uprising - living in Poland by the way) would not agree, but what do I know...
72. blamegame
pole from the north ,   North-pole   (05.21.07)
We are all missing the point here, its become a blame game again, so we are hated, we know that, whats new?, its how we deal with it, that is important. Yobs can be found at every football match bringing shame to their countries, we are the New-Jew we must set an example for others to follow, with our impecable behaviour at home and abroad.
73. Israeli bad behaviour
Nachash Tsefah ,   Tel Aviv   (05.21.07)
I can fully believe that the allegations regarding the youths' behaviour in Poland are true and accurate. The same allegations have been made regarding Israelis in Turkey and other places, where the culprits were probably the students' parents and older siblings. Unfortunately Israelis in general are unmannered, inconsiderate, loud, rude and generally obnoxious. As a western immigrant to IL I am disgusted by the way Israelis behave: the rudeness and shouting in public places; pushing and queue-jumping (more like a rugby scrum than a queue); lack of consideration when parking (take up as many spots as possible); aggression and selfishness on the road (don't give way to anyone in the traffic, drive too fast and right on your tail, hoot and curse and try to intimidate other road users); littering and dropping rubbish everywhere; talking on cellphones in movie theatres; school kids completely out of control on public buses... the list goes on. Instead of behaving in a dignified and respectful way as befits a Holocaust-memorial tour (and any tour, in fact), these kids go out and show the world the ugly side of Israeli culture (or the lack thereof). The Poles probably look at this behaviour and feel that they understand why the Nazis wanted to destroy us in the first place. I am ashamed of what Israel has become and how this society has failed dismally to become a light unto nations. Israeli society in general, and the youth in particular, needs a dose of discipline and a course in manners and "derech eretz".
74. Three further points
Nachash Tsefah   (05.21.07)
1. The fact that the tour is endorsed by the Israeli government makes the allegations here even more serious and damaging. 2. The excuse that all kids / tourists behave badly abroad is no excuse. Just because the Brits get drunk in Spain doesn't mean that we have the right to behave like barbarians. Kids are kids and part of being a teenager is having fun and pushing the limits, but setting fire and ransacking hotel rooms, cursing the locals etc is too much! If they were isolated incidents they could be attributed to a few bad apples, but unfortunately this appears to be a systemic phenomenon that reflects on the lack of manners and education of Israeli youth (and Israelis in general). 3. It is completely unacceptable for an Israeli security agent to behave in an intimidating, threatening and disrespectful way. They should be setting an example of decent, respectful behaviour and absolute discretion. Unfortunately the security agents probably behaved exactly the same way when they were teenagers on the same school tours just a few years before. Their job is both to protect Israelis and to protect Israel's image abroad. Their lack of discipline and etiquette probably means that they would be undisciplined and sloppy should they have to act to ensure the security of the group.
75. # 49 Charles what do you say about the article and #56 tb
BUSH ,   usa   (05.21.07)
76. Khaled and Justine - your last posts
Isragirl   (05.21.07)
I agree with both of you 100%. On my many trips to Germany I've encountered Germans who cry at the thought of Holocaust and who get really angry about the way Israel tends to use it today. I'm not proud of it. Israel went from one exaggeration to another. Israeli youth can act badly. See my post 45. What's described in this article rings true. The problems are deeply rooted. Where were the teachers, the group leaders when all this happened? Why are there so many apologetic excuses and no punishment for these kids? Or for the security guards who abuse their power? In every group like that there's a bunch of kids who act normal and respectfully, and then there's a rowdy group who give everyone a bad name. All nations have their share of hooligans. You can't control everybody. But when a group goes to represent their nation, they should be instructed and monitored. And something definitely needs to be done about that whole "you still owe us" national attitude. It doesn't build better relationships with other countries.
77. Poland
AlbertoGA ,   Houston, Texas   (05.21.07)
Is this the country that had Pogroms ? Please remind me of the facts, my memory is not always good. How about the wonderful help we got in Warsaw...WW2 Is some kids did not behave they should be punished. But History ! Shalom
78. mirror or the face which is ugly
bob ,   chennai   (05.21.07)
There is no second question of an enquirey what really happened in poland...But as a person who worked with tourisam, I have to say Israeli tourist have a bad reputation in all countries where they are familier..it could take at least a few years to asses and classify an israeli tourist as they are behaving diffrent.no matter age or sex, finally as a tour operator.. i realised it is what they are trying to be more friendly or trying to behave one among or more patriotc than the king--- with the usual fear ( I don't know what is this fear).. the behavior is like a sick person trying to smile or trying to chear every body, of couse ther is tproblems in and out . but when you are travelling to a differant country or a differant culture you are the ambassedor of your culture. here people who are hearing about you for the first time-- or-- hearing negative things about you --are assesing you with your behavior.. don't forget that if we are learning about holocaust in israel poland or rest of the world is learing about the merchent of venice.. the new generation have to be better organised and educated how to behave according to a place's culture which is not your land but a friendly place.. Imagin a motor bike race or a a jass party in the mid noon shabat in a very religious jerusalem naibour hood--- With out judging any body. This should come from the school education and family culture..so stop telling children the proud of Israel is the proud of victims instead tell them clear that we are are the continuation of people who contributed a lot of new things to the world.. and you the new generation follwing the leagents... if not finally don"t blame the mirror for an ugly face

charles ,   petach tikva   (05.21.07)
First of all , what has my # 49 to do with # 56 ? As far as i know , those are not only seculars who are going to Poland , so this has nothing to do with a failure of the secular school system . Secular school system who brought Israel to the top of Hi Tec , medical discoveries , and so on . So not a failure at all . What has the religious school system contributed to the world ? Many thousands of Yeshiva students , improductive , and so on . Are those good results ? So i answered . Chag Sameach .
80. response to Keren
Patrick ,   Luxembourg   (05.21.07)
Well, I've spent 5 years in Israel and my opinion of Isreali youth is much different than yours. They are spoiled by their parents, think of themselves as the centre of the world, are egocentric and easily get into fights.
81. reply to Rysk
Patrick ,   Luxembourg   (05.21.07)
You can't be serious. Holocaust couldn't have happened without hte Polish anti-semitism? What the hell are you talking about mate? Holocaust was performed by teh Nazis, not the Poles - I suggest you grab any decent history book and read it, if you still think the two are related.

This is the first time I post on ynet without getting trashed for being a terrorist hating anti-semitic!
85. israeli youth in Poland
jan ,   jerusalem israel   (05.21.07)
as a young person I knew I couldn't go to Europe. I knew I couldn't emotionally handle the bloodstained ground of my lost family Todays March of the living from other countries provide the emotional support a young person needs to visit the death camps Young Israeli's need to be educated to not take their justified rage out on the wrong people. I still can't bring myself to go there.
86. Behaviour of Israelis in Poland
Barszkiewicz ,   Montpellier, France   (05.21.07)
It is for me particulary sad to read about the behaviour of young Israelis in Poland. Why? Well, I am born Polish and my first wife was a Jewish. I wish that some kind of agreement about common 800 years would appear between Poles and Jews. It is hard to see this. One try to show their superiority and the second try to show their negative sentiments. Is there a way out from this trap?
87. To Khaled and Isragirl
Justine   (05.21.07)
Nice to talk to you. I agree, there are people who use past horrors to justify their own stupid behavior. It happens among Israelis, it happens among Poles (with respect to Germans, Russians or Ukrainians) but it's just terribly annoying. It does not mean history should be forgotten, it just means it should not be used to excuse inappropriate behavior directed at random people who as individuals have nothing to do with the crimes.
88. #84 You are an ugly anti-trash! This is your reality.
Damian ,   USA   (05.21.07)
89. To Nachash Tsefah
Justine   (05.21.07)
"As a western immigrant to IL I am disgusted by the way Israelis behave: the rudeness and shouting in public places; pushing and queue-jumping (more like a rugby scrum than a queue); lack of consideration when parking (take up as many spots as possible); aggression and selfishness on the road" Sounds like Greece to me :) (I lived there for a while). "The Poles probably look at this behaviour and feel that they understand why the Nazis wanted to destroy us in the first place. " Maybe some do, but that's because they're idiots. Those are inadmissible thoughts regardless of circumstances.
90. No News Here, Israeli Arrogance and Rudeness Welll Known.
Fred Farkelsteinman ,   New York, NY   (05.21.07)
This is nothing new, Israel students and backpackers have made themselves unwelcome all over the world. Clearly neither the Israeli family nor Israeli education system teaches respect for others, ethics or moral values, as this has been going on for decades and it is only getting worse. Even Israel's Ambassadors no respect for the countries that they are guests of as evident by Israel's ambassador to El Salvador being found in public in a bondage rig, and its Swedish Ambassador attacking the freedom of expression and attempting to destroy art that "he" found objectionable. Israel society is becoming so disturbing that one wonders just how low it can actually go given the depths of moral depravity it has surpassed already.
