The only way to stop your infighting and your struggle for domination with bloodlust is to attack your democratic neighbour who will then HAVE TO retaliate, which will unify you against a common goal. Nice and sick, the Palestinian psyche. Yes, your people are dying and when 1 civilian on either side gets killed it is a terrible thing. However, when you choose a terrorist organisation like HAMAS, who doesnt want peace but to destroy and (I know you wont like it) an established Jewish neighbour or an old terrorist like Arafat who was offered half of Jerusalem, Gaza, 97% of the West Bank and 3% of Israel proper and still said NO! you can only blame yourselves. If Abbas was offered that today his would grab it with both hands and not let go, but Arafat blew it! You will never get this offer again..... Also, the motive for Hamas attacks is to cause as much death and destruction as possible, civilians or military, it doesnt matter. Israel tries to kill militants or terrorist (whatever you want to call them). It is sad when civilians are killed as collateral damage but War is Hell and the purposes of bombing on both sides is different!

I agree with number fives assessment. I also believe that Oprah's misplaced sympathy for shahids was born of ignorance not malice. Her life has been a great triumph of intelligence and willpower over extreme hardship and adversity.The school she established for girls in Africa is a wonderful testament to her warm and generous heart. I am confident that her views will be transformed by her visit here.

I think it's great that Oprah Winfrey will be travellling to Israel at the invitation of Elie Wiesel. While she's there she needs also to visit Gaza and the West Bank and talk to the suffering Palestinian people. Preparatory to this trip she should read "The Lemon Tree" by Sandy Tolan. This book will give her the perpspective of both a Palestinian family and an Israeli family who are intimately connected to the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948.

Do the palis do anything without killing each other and other people? Look at Lebanon, it has terror bases camouflaged as refugee camps, all full of "innocent" palis, running with AK47s. Are you saying that the Palestinian victims aren't a humanitarian issue. Opra visit to Israel vindicates Israel's 40 years of brute violence in it's occupation of others land and livelihood? How come such powerful state is always portrayed as the victim acting in defence even whet it's obviously on the offensive? No amount of stardom could further sanctify Israel's behaviour but blemishes those who attempt to vilify her victims by hoodwinking truth.

Yes, the Palestinians just want a nice little peaceful state. Check out Gaza and Lebanon as I wrote this. A Palestinian man, whose house was destroyed by Hamas, said today in a BBC piece that he prays for the day that Israel takes back control so he and his family can live in peace.

Oprah may not be perfect. She may hang with the Mandela crowd, but if she visits Israel and expresses her sympathy, and brings positive coverage to Israel, she will have done something that very few Jewish stars have done. Would Barbara Streisand ever accept Elie Weisel's invitation?

While in Israel, be sure to also go to the West Bank to see & experience how Israel's occupation & apartheid policies & practices adversely affect Palestinian life. This will give you a more balanced picture.

40 years? Look up the occupation during the 70s and early 80s. Israel was building universities in the territories. There was no intifada nor was there a call to end occupation (except terrorist activities to destroy all of Israel), and as a result, Palestinian life in the territories was not anything like it is today. And don't forget that the occupation itself started as a result of capturing territories during a defensive war, the territories having been earlier occupied by Egypt and Jordan. Israel is not on the offensive. Every single Israeli strike or raid is a direct result of an Hamas attack.
