Listening to a NPR (US national radio) show today, there was a review on the 6 day war. A quick listen to it made me really realize how history has been warped, and that when the radio station played back the original recordings from that period, Israel was clearly the little tiny state with surrounding vicious countries who really were committed to destroying it. One hears how the arab preachers in Cairo in 1967 called for israeli destruction. One hears how there was such jubiliation in the arab world on the first day of the war because they wanted to annihilate israel We even hear (I didn't know this) that Syria considered shelling Israel on day 4 of the war, even after Egypt and Jordan had surrendered, and therefore bought themselves the loss of the golan heights. I realized clearly that the situation that the arabs and palestinians find themselves in is NOTHING compared to what would have happened to the Jewish people in israel had the arabs won the war. In fact, we wouldn't even be talking now because there would have been another holocaust. The fate of the arabs and palestinians is a result of their own continued desire to destroy Israel.
