Matter of fact, there are a great many Gazans who actually WANT Israel back in to run things again! If Olmert can get the civil population to go against the terrorists, this would be a very good thing!

i only wish the gazan residents who are mostly innocent and victims of internal aggression between fatah and hamas, listen to olmert and rebel against a militant terrorist faction who has brought them only misery poverty and mayhem since elected. people make mistakes in elections. gazans wanted a gov't that will represent them peacefully at the negotiation table, improve economy and open the door for the west and israel to collaborate in a peace process they caqn benefit from. the kasam terror destroyed it all. not by gazans' choice, but by the choice of these terrorist factions amongst them whose hate for the israeli jewish nation blinds them to the real needs of their arab palestinian citizens. look at what happened in lebanon in that palestinian refugee camp. again, a similar situation. palestinians need to understand that they can't be a hijacked entity by those that want to rather destroy israel than work towards the establishment of a true peaceful palestinian state.

There is a deep undercurrent of resentment in Palestinian society against Hamas who have clearly betrayed all their promises. Yet given the daily diet of ferocious anti Israel and anti West propaganda not to mention the brutality of occupation, Palestinians are also deeply suspicious of Israeli intentions. Thats why Olmerts idea to appeal directly to Palestinians by way of special broadcasts might well help in a small way to bridge the divide. But in doing so Olmert needs to show and come across to ordinary Palestinians as sympathetic, as approachable, that he is willing to compromise, is willing to listen and is commited to a viable Palestinian State. He needs to talk about the futility of the conflict, the golden future within grasp but not directly attack Hamas despite their failures. Then Abbas to do the same. Just one small step......
