31. #27 Hatred is preached in UK mosques
MARK ,   USA   (05.30.07)
The British are allowing the Imans to preach deep hatred of the West and need to take full responsibility. There is a reason why there are so many militant Islamic jihadists in the UK. I think the leaders in the UK are responsible for what goes on in their country and need to stop blaming the Jews and Israel for all their problems.
32. #27 I listen to the BBC
MARK ,   USA   (05.30.07)
They love bashing Israel and the Jews. They constantly report on the events in Israel with such Anti-Israel venom. I am glad the BBC reporter has not been released.
33. #27 I thought before I hit submit
MARK ,   USA   (05.30.07)
I am being honest just like you are being honest about your hatred of Israel. The UK is still in the Dark Ages. There is a reason why the UK is so dark, grey, and cloudy. Will you be torturing Jews like you have done for centuries?
34. let me just say that
A real Englishman ,   Nottinghamshire   (05.30.07)
I would like to apologize to Israelis on behalf of my fellow counrymen. England, and all of Britain for that matter has changed dramatically over the years demographically. This has led to a change in perception about world politics. These people wanting a boycott, do NOT represent the true "english" at all... The cold hard facts are that birmingham leeds london etc are being filled up with ill-educated immigrants from the moslem world, and they are bringing their mindset along with them. They are changing slowly but surely the attitudes of those around them as well. The (uk born) train&bus bombers in london seem to have already been forgotten. The path forward for Britain looks as if it will continue to be stained with Briton blood before attitudes will change. Bless Israel and be Blessed...... Curse Israel and be Cursed......
35. Strange
Ram ,   London   (05.30.07)
Is it not strange that British academics insist their Israeli counterparts condemn Israeli policy whereas they do not bother to make the same demand of muslim academics to condemn terror, the policies of Iran, Syria etal, or the persecution of their own people?
36. #24 The boycott starts now
mark ,   Atlanta, , USA   (05.30.07)
Another non-Israeli Jew starts his boycott today. Firstly, I will buy nothing made in England. Secondly, I have alerted all the suppliers of my large business to give me a list of components made in England. I will no longer buy anything made in England or containing any component made in England for my business.
37. 21-Do you know the origins of the word boycott?....
Israela   (05.30.07)
coming from a country which is currently busy in "brining democracy" to Iraq, this is hypocrisy at its worse. apperently you think Britain is standing on a higher moral ground - may I ask: the sun nevere setted on which empire?! I would suggest you boycott Britain first, for past and present racist and colonialist policies which costs god know how many lives. the answer for the question above: boycott was applied against an Englishman land owner in Ireland his name was Charles Boycott...
38. Where's Enzo?
Ynet blogger ,   Ex/Brit   (05.30.07)
Usually such a jolly amused sort of guy. Planning Aliyah hopefully.
39. #27 To a certain extent you do.
Donna ,   Netanya   (05.30.07)
Don't get me wrong. I enjoy my visits to England, love the history, snagged a husband from there. I too, hate it when innocents get killed(including an Israeli woman in 7/7 BTW.) BUT, your government has continuously allowed British Muslims to spout some of the worst diatribes against England ITSELF and Israel and the US in their mosques, and have been gun-shy about charging some of these human turds. How many years did it take for "the hook" to be arrested... and then, only with a US warrant. I think this is what #16 was trying to say. Your governements (and Royal Family) have always been pro-Arab, and, like the French, are petrified to anger the home-grown fifth column. Unlike the US, which would never stand for such a danger in their midst, Europeans do not take a strong stand. Hence 7/7, committed by people that hate their country of birth and are not afraid of the state.
40. #36
bernie ,   paris   (05.30.07)
what' s your life going to be without fish-n'chips, mark? please, think it over.
41. Too Cultured
Brit   (05.30.07)
we Brits are too cultured and educated to be anti-semitic-for this reason we will always deny it while we support any anti-israel cause we can
42. #34 Thank you for your apology.
MARK ,   USA   (05.30.07)
Unfortunately, I hear terrible Anti-Semitism coming from the UK very often that I just expect it. When I turn on the BBC my blood is ready to boil and I am ready to scream. Thank you showing me that there is not all darkness in the UK. There is a light at the end of that dark tunnel. God will bless you because you have blessed Israel. This is clearly written in the bible and God gave us free will to make our own decision. You made the correct one. You give me hope in a world that is filled with great despair. God bless you always! I wish more people blessed Israel like you do.
43. #21 Campbell
Screw Campbell ,   Israel   (05.30.07)
Campbell, go back to making soup, you know-nothing arshloch.
44. The Brits will only get it when they feel the pain
Steve ,   USA   (05.31.07)
We must boycott that hateful island.
45. Bravo Britain! - Jolly Good
Fred Farkelsteinman ,   NY, NY USA   (05.31.07)
Israel's record of abusing human rights, war crimes, and crimes against humanity is second to no ones, and thus it is about time that Israelis pay a price for their crimes. I'm thrilled to see individuals working to change Israeli behavior peacefully through boycotts and divestment campaigns as it is the proper way for a civilized people to effect change and hep make the world a more peaceful place.
46. I am an American Jew and I will never set my foot on that
Barry ,   USA   (05.31.07)
anti-Semitic land they call the UK!
47. Fred Farthead #45
JB ,   Canada   (05.31.07)
Fred (more likely Ahmed bin mohammed bin fartin), What planet are you living on, you dolt?! Your ignorance is truly abysmal. You blame Israel for your own shortcomings over centuries...centuries of hatred, violence, cruelty, misogyny, all in the name of Allah. You accuse Israel of all the crimes Muslims are guilty of for hundreds of years, towards each other and non-Muslims. A pox on you and the British Union of Fools!
48. Boycott
leon ,   Grand Rapids USA   (05.31.07)
Boycott will lead to anti-semitism ???? It IS anti-semitism ., substantive and vicious..
49. British Academic Boycott
Mark ,   USA   (05.31.07)
I am a doctor and many of the medical text books I use also come from England. I plan to not buy any more text books. In my private life, I plan to not buy any British products. I used to listen to the BBC for news and movies, despite the anti-Israel and anti-US rhetoric..nor more. Maybe it doesnt mean much, but I have enough information to make a conclusion..this union that voted for the boycott has anti-semetic elements. For Israel to be singled out, when there are countries with terrible human rights violations is atrocious. I remember in college that there were anti-Israel protests organized by British woman who had come over to convinve young impressionable college minds.. Anti-semites I never intend to visit Britain, the UK or Ireland. BTW-if this union boycotts Israel will they give up their intel computers with israel designed microprocessors?
50. envy!
(05.31.07)
has anyone ever thought that the REAL REASON behind this boycot is that the british "intelligentzia" and academics KNOW ONLY TOO WELL THAT COMPARED TO THEIR ISRAELI COUNTERPARTS IN RESEARCH AND INNOVATIONS, THEY ARE ACTUALLY YEARS AND WAY WAY BEHIND ISRAEL???? the real cause of this boycot is not antisemitism, but anger and envy and hate because we are so much better than they are in everything. i once asked a british professor why is that that there is so much hatred for israel in england. his reswponse was INSECURITY.
51.  UK boycott will lead to anti-Semitism? No, it already is.
(05.31.07)
52. #27 You're just getting what you've been dishing out .
(05.31.07)
So how does it feel when nobody really cares when you bleed? Where was your indignation when Israelis were being blown to bits in the busses? I bet you were working on some anti-Israeli protest. You made your country into islamist heaven; you've got exactly what you deserve. Now go and sign another anti-Israeli declaration.
53. email them to complain - here is their address
Moshe ,   Beit Shemesh   (05.31.07)
britannia@ucu.org.uk
54. great(?) britain
meg ,   israel   (05.31.07)
has never got over having their butts kicked out of israel in '48. They will hold that against us until that tiny island sinks under the weight of all the moslem immigrants of today and long before, that are gradually taking over. Britains beware...Israel has not intentions on your island, others seem to have.
55. bored academics
peggy ,   formally uk   (05.31.07)
go make yourselves useful, stupid little people with your boycotts, who gives a toss about you anyway. You sound like you are into a Krystal Nacht thing here....first start the ball rolling, then comes the reral story. But hey do you see any Jews denying you Xmas? Also is Israel the only country defending itself...thought you lot were out in Iraq defending the UK and causing so much death and distruction. Why are you in iraq!!!!!!!! you hypocites
56. agree with #50 and some others here
megan ,   the north   (05.31.07)
for now i have made my own boycott...taken my money from the british bank, put it into an Israeli bank, will not spend another penny in the UK, cancelled visit, not a penny will I spend there and especially not in London, ah but I am a tiny drop in a big ocean. Sorry to all NORMAL Brits and even those academics who are against the boycott, but please remember how nasty situations start, so maybe these academics should apply their knowledge and time to more beneficial things. Look first on your own doorstep and see how many are dying because the Brits are around, think how you lost your empire. Go do some good in places like Dafur and help other people that have never once struck out at another country. Go do something useful!!!
57. Israel must boycott UK and BBC reporters!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ,   ####################   (05.31.07)
Let the BBC go to Gaza to spend their nights before writing their flawed and skewed reports about the "plight of the palestinians." And action should be taken against each and every report in a major media outlet that reports lies as journalism!
58. Anti-Semitic now means opposition to the policies of Israel
Apartheid ,   Boston MA   (05.31.07)
Soon the term will be meaningless altogether
59. rights? what about wrongs?
David Severy ,   Baltimore, MD USA   (05.31.07)
"...Israel is far from being the most serious human rights abuser on the planet and yet it is singled out." We live in a post moral, post legal age. Rights, which are merely sanctioned powers, should not be extended to lawbreakers, be they moral or ethical lawbreakers. Israel is not excused for her duty to be clean, but she ought to be excepted from the immoral and illegal persecutions of her (immoral and criminal) neighbors and the (immoral and criminal) world at large. In that she is not excepted, who can blame her for surviving her enemy’s attacks? The academics in Gretat Britan, and in many other quarters, have no perspective of moral and ethical rights as the absolute province of the Almighty. For every sheepskin awarded by higher educators today, there are 100 or more wolfskins awarded. It is rare that one who goes to school a sheep will remain a sheep, having been hammered day by day, class by class by what can (rightly) be called wolf makers or wolfherds. Rights need to be granted according to persons/nations ability to do right, and denied to those who fail in this. It is hard to see most of Israel's actions as anything but justified from a human viewpoint, or from that of God's law of an eye for an eye. Yet there are two glaring matters that cause me to think Israel is in the same sort of trouble the as the rest of us. First, Israeli doctors perform abortions, as many or more than 2,000,000 since 1952. Secondly, Israel seems to be little able to stop the influx of pornography, and prostitution has long been a problem. So we ought to ask of Israel the same as we ask of ourselves and our nation, to eradicate these plagues. If Israel, as many in the USA and around the globe advocate, continues to grant the power to parents of murdering their own flesh and blood, and the power to have a prostitute, or use (abuse themselves with) pornography (pornography is the writings [graphs] of prostitutes [pornos]), - can we expect that the Almighty will desire to make our path smooth?
60. Academic boycott
henry ekert ,   melbourne,australia   (06.06.07)
Tha call for boycott of Israel academics reflects acceptance of the distortions of ME news by the BBC and print media such as the Guardian. To be a fashionable " leftie" it is now esential to be anti-Israel but to be able to say that some of my friends are Jewish. Where and when have seen this before?!
