1. Ashkelon is wonderful!
enzo ,   london,uk   (06.10.07)
What a lovely place Ashkelon is! I fell in love with this lovely town, for its tranquillity, its historical remains, for the friendliness of its inhabitants, for the food, the weather and that wonderful ancient port. I love you, Ashkelon. I''ll be back!!!
2. So much history and beauty in a single place.
Otter   (06.11.07)
These articles just make us want to learn even more about these sites.
3. No wonder why it reminds Greece!
Keren ,   SP-Israel   (06.11.07)
It is because Ashkelon still retains something about a non semitic people who came from the area around Greece, the Islands-probably-,and gave a very hard time to the Jews. Ashkelon has a beautiful Greek mood and it is a beatiful place, due to Israel's hability to transform the bad in good, the desert in blooming land, the nothing into something everyone desires and not because the remains of that place belong to something good. Probably the canine cemitery existed because -probably again-their gods were dogs. It were the philistines who killed King Saul;it were the philistines who robbed our Ark of the Covenant(giving it back later ,after so many disgraces had happened to them for that act),it was the philistine Dalila who tricked Sanson,to give place to her people to destroy us... Then,as in the whole Israel, there are there the remainings of the romans, who despotized the Jews;the christian bysantines who did the same;the greeks who wanted to obligate us to pray for their gods... The whole History of Israel ,since our birth as a people,is a history of a constant try to take it from us. In the periods we are not here-or at least just a few of us are-it becames a desert place, left to flies. But ,as soon as we are back, everyone wants it! It is amazing! Every single sight in Israel, should be shown in its real perspective.History must be actual. The Today must be explained in the light of the days gone.Maybe only then,we will change things.
4. Thank you, Keren...

What a lovely talkback! I feel like you. I feel the same. Thousands of years of History and sufferings at the hands of "others" are visible even today in this wonderful Country. You are right when you say "every single sight of Israel should be shown in its real perspective". I was in Israel 6 weeks ago. I wanted to see the Country I love MOST with my own eyes! I loved every single moment of my stay. I loved everything I visited, from the South to Sfat. I loved the people and made lots of friends. I loved the desert, the Mediterranean, the lakes, the plains, the hills, the historical sights, the food (YES...THE FOOD!!!). I keep telling my friends: go and see for yourself! Go and see a Country which will remain for ever in your heart! Once again, Keren, you wrote a lovely talkback. I just wanted to say that...
