2. Will the system allow Pal terro teams with TV CREWinsignia

3. for nothing
yoel   (06.10.07)
Pals will send children as human shields. Then Israel will be condemned for using weapons against civilians... its seems military echelon still doesn' get used with palestinian way of thinking and doesn't adapt to ennemy's tactics.
4. The right track
Marty ,   USA   (06.10.07)
Israel is on the right track. Robotic development will eventually neutralize Arab demographic advantage.
5. Wrong: All Wrong
Yishai Kohen ,   YeShA, Israel   (06.10.07)
The day we let technology replace combat soldiers is the day that we begin to lose.
6. Maginot Line?
Future1   (06.10.07)
Lets not forget how the Nazi's took advantage of the Maginot Line. Israel please dont get lazy and think this is a perfect system. Always upgrade and always think of ways to break through the robo border.
7. Robots no substitute for boots on the ground
Raymond from DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (06.10.07)
These robotic and remote systems should supplement existing forces on the ground, not replace them. These systems can neither capture nor engage in hot pursuit. Nor is it likely they can deal with tunnels or mass assaults following a breach. There will continue to be a need for boots on the ground, people who know the territory and can use judgment to respond to unexpected situations.
8. #5-Yishai Kohen , YeShA, Israel - Actually, this
Allan ,   Us   (06.10.07)
is a perfect system. It keeps our guys out of harms way while giving them operational capabilities from the safety of a remote and secure location. The article did not say that the Army ceded decision making to the robots but rather that once a target is identified the operators do all the shooting using machine guns located in pill box like structures. This is a great military advancement, just one more contribution to the world by Israel and the Jewish people as opposed to the death and destruction offered by the Palestinians.
9. immoral
chad ,   usa   (06.10.07)
Robotic sniping along the border is about the most immoral thing I've seen all day. A country run like a guard tower, just waiting for someone to escape so they can kill without question.
10. they have a use but humans are better
zionist forever   (06.10.07)
Unmanned vehicles have their place but at the end of the day men in control towers watching with unmanned vehicles can only do so much. You need men on the ground .. the human eyeball has a much wider field of vision and a freedom of movement than a robot does. Terrorists will find weaknesses with an automatic system soon enough At sea yes the protector is great because your targets are coming in boats and it can shoot at these boats, in the air you can get a view from the sky but on the ground there isnt a drone yet that cant be outsmarted.... so the IDF must not get overconfident and rely to much on these vehicles and not make enough use of men on the ground thats the first step to failure.
11. Can the robot replace Olmert&Peretz ASAP
Alan ,   SA   (06.10.07)
12. not such a great idea
tom ,   toronto, canada   (06.10.07)
robots are a good way to avoid risking the lives of soldiers, but they are NOT a good way to defend the country. robots do not have the intelligence and adaptability to respond to new and different threats. they can and will be fooled by unforeseen tactics, such as tunnelling or camouflage. and all it takes is one or two "accidents", stage-managed by the terrorists if necessary, to send the robots "back to the drawing board", amid an international uproar over "civilian" casualties. this will end the same way as the "family picnic on gaza beach" story. this is an expensive and ill-conceived idea.
13. mine border like hamas mined the beaches
moshe ,   brazil   (08.25.07)
Like hamas mined the beaches, Israel should mine the territori between borders
