31. Lial's comments about Iran are wrong
Eric Ritter   (06.11.07)
How is Syria going to break off relations with Iran? Even Turkey has relations with Iran. There is always going to be relations between Syria and Iran. What Syria might do is, break off relations for 6 months with Iran and Hamas and Islamic Jihad. But 6 months later, everything will be back to the way it was. Only this time, Syria will have the Jewish Golan and Iran will be arming Syria who will be arming Hamas and Islamic Jihad. The interesting part is, what happens when Syria allies itself to Iran and the Palestinian Islamic groups. Ilan Lial will blame Bush. Lial is a fool who speaks for Arab terrorists.
32. This is blackmail
Daniel ,   Israel   (06.11.07)
This is blackmail (by Assad); how US is responsible for the mistakes "Assad" made? Now to correct his mistakes; he wants other Muslim nations to come to his rescue? And wants US to protect him? Why is Israel bothered for whatever "Assad" says or wants? A few more months and “Assad will disappear from the world scene”.
33. Return Golan but not to Assad
Zaher ,   Riyadh - SA   (06.11.07)
Assad is abandoned by Saudi Arabia and Egypt, so why make peace with him and ignore the arab peace initiative. It is more beneficial to Israel and the Arabs to unit efforts agaist this criminal and then make a lating peace with leaders who do not sponsor terrorism. Assad has inflicted tremendous pain on Lebanon, Iraq and Palestine, to award him for that is a very bad signal to the crimial leaders around the word. Assad legacy should not be the one of a hero who got back golan, but of one of the worst dictators who paid the price of their crimes.
34. Syria?
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (06.11.07)
IMHO, this whole deal doesn’t have a thing to do with Syria, the Golan, Iran’s nukes, sanctions or peace. As off the wall as it may sound, but this entire scenario has "Mahmoud Mahdi Madness" written all over it, the primary objective being to put the US on some sort of ice-even if only temporarily-for Iran to wipe out Israel. Everything else is smoke, mirrors and diversion. Not to belittle its ability to defend itself, but heaven help Israel, if anyone in the US government, believing that they’re dealing with sanity, actually falls for this charade. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit, if Mahmoud went as far as to start “helping” the US in Iraq. He might think that he only has to make us blink and “discuss” our allegiance long enough for him to do his dirty deed. I think this whack job would cut his mother’s throat, if it guaranteed him to go down in history as the “great Muslim hero” who put an end to Israel.
35. Yes, Lial...keep biting the hand that feeds you!
Sabientje   (06.12.07)
The U.S. is the strongest ally and supporter that Israel has, and individuals like Lial...won't hesitate to spit on their faces. And from where does he get those quotes as to what Assad said? show me interview where Assad states he wants to change camps. It's all Bullsh*t!
