31. Nothing can "Enlighten" you, Miriam.
sk ,   USA   (06.19.07)
You lack the education even to consider alternative views. You are invincibly submerged in darkness. Anyway, dear, the author is certainly correct that the Haredim have an unwholesome obsession with gay people. My guess (from last year) is that gays threaten their whole power structure, as the size of Haredi families mean that perhaps half of them have a gay family member. Talk about a bomb waiting to explode!
32. Wrestling with God & Men: a book worth reading
sk ,   USA   (06.19.07)
Written by Orthodox Rabbi Steven Greenberg (who also is gay), it sets out an analysis that reconciles gay love with Orthodox Judaism. I've just started it, but it seems very interesting and very worth reading. http://www.amazon.com/Wrestling-God-Men-Homosexuality-Tradition/dp/0299190943/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3/105-6969554-1082824?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1182218426&sr=8-3
33. negating importance by inflating distortion
izzy d   (06.19.07)
Well I guess I can disregard my mother admonishment to look both ways before crossing a street, because I once saw her ride in a car without a seatbelt. wait you mean I cant live my life by this tit for tat principle? I guess someone should tell the author of this article

They certainly care about Jerusalem , but gays are not their big problem , they have many other more important problems to resolve in their daily life . The charidim should also look at more urgent problems , how to feed their children correctly is an example .
35. T0 #32: The book is not a valid source
Eliyahu   (06.19.07)
His interpretation of halacha is not accepted and when put through a halachic process, comes out invalid. It may be interesting reading but it should not be considered a source to quote in any discussion having to do with Jewish thought. He is a Jew, but not an authority.
36. JUST SOME ADVICE FROM SOMEONE WITH SSA
MOSHICO ,   Jerusalem   (06.19.07)
Yes G-D split the Red sea and brought the walls of Jericho down G-d also flooded the world because the people were waisting their Seed in public and he destroyed Sodom and Gemorah for all the immoral acts there were doing. And please don't give me talk back letters giving examples of books written by gay orthodox Rabbi's. I have written many times and I will repeat homosexuality is against the Torah only if that person the homosexual is a practicing homosexual but if he is not practicing or is doing something to change his homosexual feelings then G-D loves him like any other Jew he is counted in a minun, he can be one of the ten that prays together and he can do anything else ordained in the Torah and will be eventually be excepted in to Gan Edan when he dies, I don't have any guarantees for someone who practices homosexuality , I am not G-D and I don't make his judgments. I do judge the way the Cheradim are acting waisting tax payers money burning garbage containers and acting in a manner that I would not expect from a man of G-D but from an animal. Instead do a peaceful protest, hand out flyers at the parade tell them to get in contact with JONAH or other groups and look for help to be able to change there homosexuality. 38. To # 37 - We know what happened to Jonah!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (06.19.07)
Why can’t you just leave people alone? The fact is that homosexuality has been around for thousands of years. So two guys or two girls love one another. So what the hell has it got to do with you? Stop trying to cure human nature. The eating figs thing, prescribed to a Haredi Gay Guy by his Rabbi, doesn't work. He said so on TV! Who are you and the other homophobes to tell other whom they must love? If “sickness” is involved, it is the homophobes who are sick or are they jealous? Live and let live and mind you own bloody business!
39. To #19 - Shalom - Yep - insult - that's the Haredi way.
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (06.19.07)
Where is the tolerance that YOUR God commands of you? Ask yourself that the next time you pray to Him! Join you black coated brothers and burn the trash - it becomes you! I have never seen Gays throw stones at the Police who are not exactly anti-homophobia. Remember Shalom, you might be praying but no one seems to be listening. Maybe it is because of your intolerance? Gay guys and gals are His creatures too! Leave the Gays alone. Is there not enough hatred in this world? You would do a lot better in demanding a better deal for the many in Israel living below the poverty line then disseminating hatred and encouraging Jew to hate Jew!. Think about it Shalom, if you can think, that is.
40. Shalom # 19
charles ,   petach tikva   (06.19.07)
Tell me Shalom , have your prayers been answered ? Is one , only one , of our hostages or Pollard been freed ? Are there no more quassams falling in Sderot ? Were there no katyushas on Kiryat Shemona ? So your prayers are in vain . Why ? Why were the prayers of our grandparents not answered ? Maybe because there is nobody to listen to them ? For me not maybe , for me it's sure , you pray "tse di wand"

"His interpretation of halacha is not accepted and when put through a halachic process, comes out invalid." I wish you'd expand a bit about that "halachic process." He does not claim that his interpretation conforms to what is presently accepted in halacha. He argues for a change in how halacha is currently understood, and he seems to provide considerable evidence in support of this change, including evidence that important issues that were never resolved have been "forgotten" by current authorities, who now pretend that the issues were resolved in the way they wanted. "It may be interesting reading but it should not be considered a source to quote in any discussion having to do with Jewish thought. He is a Jew, but not an authority." I will know more when I finish the book. What I know now is that Ovadia Yosef supported Peres for geld. In other words, I don't think I trust the integrity of the authorities.

Rick, you mean sin is always here. It just pops up in different ways. It doesn't make it right or morally acceptable. People who live immoral lives will be held accountable here and in the afterlife. It's funny, but in the Messianic Age, the reason why so many people will rise up against the Messiah is that He won't let them live the way they want to. They will live holy lives. Not what they consider holy but His way of holiness.
