2. good or bad, sad or glad?

I just find it amusing as to the close correlation between Fatahs handling of what can be called hamas sectarian terrorism and Israels handling of hamas terrorism. Senior activists and members jailed, denying aid and recognition.

First of all, the violence is being blown out of proportion. This is a gang war, not a civil war. Normally, you would expect 1000's of casualties. This is nothing much. Just some gangsters settling scores - one gang will control Gaza, the other gang will control the West Bank. Second, this reveals the total bankruptcy of dealing with Abbas & Fatah. We have as little reason to support Fatah as we do Hamas. Actually, Hamas is doing us a favour. Getting rid of Fatah is an advantage - made possible by the loony fanatics of Hamas. We could not have done it ourselves because of international pressure. Of course, our gov't is not smart enough to realize the strategic advantage this will give us later. Third, it is a nice reality check for those who foolishly cling to the idea of a two-state solution. The facts on the ground now show that this is really a bad idea. Our best option is to explore cooperation with Jordan for the West Bank. They have a strategic interest as much as we do. Gaza is a different problem. I wouldn't trust Egypt to be in any way helpful, they are basically a hostile enemy state.
