http://www.yearinbrazil.com/misc/boycott.txt these supposed boycotters are simply hypocrites! the might give up eating humus if they didn't like it anyway but would probably give up nothing on the list.
2. You're Replacing France As Most Anti-Israel Country In Eu.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (06.15.07)
So spare me the charming double-talk which you get paid to say. We're good enough to make money with but not to support. That's basically what you said.
3. READ HEAR HOW SHAKESPEARE DESCRIBED THE ACADEMIC'S BOYCOTT
Alan ,   SA   (06.15.07)
Macbeth speaks - ...a poor player That struts and frets his hour upon the stage And then is heard no more: it is a tale Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, SIGNIFYING NOTHING. (Macbeth Scene 5 Within the castle)

6. You're missing the point, Mr. Salt!
The Doc ,   Haifa, Israel   (06.15.07)
Do you honestly ignore the buycott? Do you deny that it fosters racism against Jews? DO you deny that it emboldens the UK Radiacal Left and their Fanatical Muslm brothers? I guess not! Then it is time to ACT against ANY kind of these manifestations unless you're looking forward towards a Gaza-style takeover in London - just as the UK Muslims promise you all over your media. In view of the above, please allow me to take all your comments with a grain of "Salt"!
7. Boycotts can always be reciprocated
Nannette ,   London   (06.15.07)
Many Americans, Canadians, and Australians are now boycotting British products in support of Israel. It's the British who are scared of the boycott and losing some of their trade.
8. Righteous man
Noam ,   Boca Raton, FL   (06.15.07)
It's impressive that after spending so much time in the Middle in Arab and Islamic countries and exposed to a great deal of anti-Israel sentiment, Mr. Salt hasn't become like nearly every Middle East Studies idealogue in academia and develop a hatred for the Jewish State. Perhaps it's because he's in business and wishes for all sides of a conflcit to thrive and everyone to get ahead, or perhaps it's just because he's reasonable and doesn't believ any conflict is all one side's fault. Way to go Mate, keep up the advocacy for fair trade and cooperation.
9. British Boycott
NYC Girl   (06.15.07)
The fact that the boycott is "frivolous and useless" as Mr. Salt claims is almost beside the point. The fact is that there's a racist undercurrent in Britain and it's being fed not only by a lunatic fringe of academics, trade unionists, architects and physicians, but also by the BBC and other like-minded and biased Bitish media. And worst of all is that virtually nobody there is doing a goddamn thing about it. The BBC is so freaking arrogant that even when the evidence of their bias is presented to them, they feel they're above having to be accountable. If I were a British citizen whose tax money was funding the BBC, I'd be furious that they've practically become a mouthpiece for radical Islam and the jihadists.
10. The UK will never get my money. I am avoiding that island
Barry ,   USA   (06.15.07)

12. Great Britain, hated by the welsh scottish and irish.
(06.16.07)
dont worry with over a trillion in household debt and inflation running out of control, surging interest rates and house prices beyond the reach of young people, the uk is really a runaway train going all the way to ?
13. Agree with Goldstein, boycott is totally unhelpful to Israel
(06.19.07)
but that what it was supposed to be !
14. salt and the academic boycott
david seddon ,   norwich UK   (06.19.07)
Mr Salt may not take the academic boycott seriously, but he should. Firstly, it is only one part of a much wider movement for boycott, disinvestment and sanctions which is growing rapidly and is supported by a wide range of individuals, organisations and institutions, including the Church. Secondly, the Israeli establishment, political and academic does take it seriously - if it did not, why such extraordinary and unprecedent coverage for what after all is a relatively mild form of protest and action against Israeli government policies and those oin academia complicit in those policies of repression and denial of basic freedoms (including academic freedom) to Palestinians in the occupied territories. Perhaps Mr Salt is more worried than he lets on. He should be.
