1. I really like you Prof. Israel Aumann
Steve ,   USA   (06.17.07)
B"H One of the major selling points of Israel is that people like yourself live there. I have met the person who discovered Pluto and received a Nobel Prize for that. One of the selling points of being in Israel is that people get to meet such inspirations such as yourself. You are truly a light unto nations, and thank you for writing. You work at Hebrew Univeristy I undrstand. How can I get my Doctorate under you? I know what I want to write my thesis on, but I am not sure how to get the degree. Perhaps I just send you a copy of the thesis all written, skipping the classes. And yes, you do know what you are talking and are very wise. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and keeping the beacon lit publically.

The majority of Israelis are living a fairy tale. The fair tale goes like this: You hate me and want to physically destroy me; I will ignore that you want to drive a knife into my neck, we talk "peace" and give I you my land; you shoot us, stab us bomb us, teach your children to despise us. Then we start all over again. It seems that peace is a "process" that mandates Jews die for it. But "peace never comes. So how is it that Israel continues to be the gullible Charlie Brown to Lucy - who promises not to pull the football out at the last minute.... AGAIN?

100% correct. Peace between warring nations is achieved in one of two ways. One side gives up and compromises. One side is totally and utterly defeated in battle. If we compromise we can only pack our bags, switch out the lights and leave. I doubt that our adversaries will ever compromise so the only alternative is to defeat our enemies in all out war. This will happen, in the not too distant future. It is sad but it is reality. There is no other way.

Roger ,   USA   (06.17.07)
The Jews are the dreamers/idealists while the Arab adversaries are the realists. Aumann is 100% correct but the leftist, delirious Jews are not going to listen. They have an affliction based on guilt, insecurity and self-hatred.

23. WHO ARE WE? WHAT ARE WE?
al mann ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.17.07)
Because of the denial of the past, we have turned away from the chief ideology which sustained us for centuries while the nations of the world were unable to erase. We have strayed. We have lost it. The great thinking which once was a part of our culture is gone and forgotten. We are losing the fight for existence because there is a national refusal to recognize the ideology, its everlasting truth. We have turned away from existential thinking into the world of money and things. We have lost the title "people of the book" because the interest in it has been cast aside. Is this still the holy land or has the holiness been chased away by indifference or because of materialism? The leadership is not to be found in people alone but consists of our faith aqnd beliefs which also have been cast aside in the name of democracy. Look who takes away the holiness of Jerusalem! Look at the proud people who do not realize how their actions bring the impurity more and more into the lives of those living in the supposedly "holy city" which has turned into a city worse than New York. All in the name of democracy. Of what is there to be proud? We are worse than Nineveh, Sedom, and Amorah. We have descended into the advanced stage of impurity. This is the stage to which we have descended. No one has the right to correct the mistakes of the present. There is no leadership and no standards upon which a society can be based. Science, economics, mathematics, and educational-psychology will not help us out of the grave we have dug for ourselves. There is only one direction we can turn. When will this society learn the answer to which direction to turn.

25. The Professor Is A Real Mentsch.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (06.17.07)
As an expert in game theory, trust me, he knows what he's talking about. These are the people our politicians should be seeking advice from - not slick campaign managers & marketing experts or crooked lawyers. The good prof. should write a column every week.
26. Wise man
eddie ,   London UK   (06.17.07)
I suggest that for once, Israelis listen to one of their smartest people, and pay attention to his message. He has some good points, not only because I thought of them too :)
27. Prof. Aumann for Prime Minister
Roscio ,   Rome, Italy   (06.17.07)
Kol Ha-Kavod, well said. What Israel needs, besides facing the reality that its neighbors only want ALL of Israel and no Jew left alive, is a leader who embodies both the values of Torah and of Zionism. To arrive at the point of deserving such leadership, the Israeli people must indeed change. No more self-hating Jewish teachers indoctrinating our youth with anti-Israel lies in the universities, no more self-seeking professional politicians who don't give a damn for Israel or Torah. Patriotism and Torah have been ignored - indeed considered an embarassment - in Israeli schools. This is the source of so many of our problems. Let us choose to nurture our children, our future, with true values. With Torah and patriotism, it will be only natural to seek true leaders with these same values. Then, we will truly merit a leader on the level of Prof. Aumann.

Otter ,   Canada   (06.17.07)
Although we shouldn't ignore other forces at work in Israel. The US has been controlling Israel's policies regarding the Palestinians and Lebanon for a long time. There are Israeli politicians who are not acting guided by high social and patriotic principles but who have been co-opted by other interests, organizations, governments. The only thing that could save Israel is a mass movement, particularly by its youth, to support a party who would promise to overhaul the political and judicial systems, which was designed to sustain the same Leftist elite no matter who is in power. Two gigantic goals, but absolutely necessary: mass involvement by the people, and deep reform of the system. If that was acccomplished, the Left and the traitors would have no power to destroy Israel. If things are allowed to continue as they are now, Israel won't be able to survive. Even if Israelis vote for the "right" party, there are loopholes that can be used to betray the will of the people. The whole political/electoral system needs to be changed.
