31. Mr. Brieman has an ego bigger than a politician's
Daniel ,   Formerly Irael   (06.21.07)
The 'secular public' is going to have to swollow its religiophobia and vote for a united secular-religious party, or they're going to end up wot h a left-wing government as usual, and all because of t heir ego.
32. Re #5: I have a different read on that
Steve ,   USA   (06.21.07)
B"H I do not think Feiglin believes in religious coersion, but rather a common moral compass. Let us say there were a parade for adultury, would you support that? Or a parade for multiple wives? Or a parade of prostitutes practicing their acts in public? I did not see anything disrespectful in the dress of the march participants, but the point is that the line has to be drawn somewhere in terms of public moral enforcement. In Torah law, the death penalty was given for the embarassment of public adultury. But now there is secular rule in Israel. But even so, the dividing line between public harm and private good has to be drawn somewhere. I think Feiglin was making the point that the line has to be drawn consistently somewhere, and that the pride was meaning to divide the country's moral stance and undermine it.
33. Absolutely Best Article Yet
Adina kutnicki ,   US   (06.21.07)
Every blessed word in this article she be imbibed as if our Jewish zionist lives depends on it. The go to people must be Nadia Matar from the religious activist camp, to Tsafrir Ronen from the secular zionist camp. The umbrella organization of the Nahallal Forum can put together the non parliamentarian arm. The other arm I defer to others.
34. Israelis are hungry for a new direction
Judy Y ,   Los Angeles   (06.21.07)
They are sick of the old leadership, they don't trust them anymore, and are aware that Israel keeps going downhill vey fast. It does not matter if the new party does not satisfy everyone. All that matters is that something new needs to be tried, with clean, reputable leaders, with a major goal of saving Israel. Israel is in danger and the religious issues need to be put aside for the good of the country. What good is to cling to one's secular or religious principles if there will be no country where to apply those concepts to, if everyone will find himself on a boat on the way to exile.
35. rightist parties
SteveMD2 ,   USA   (06.21.07)
AS I read this from the USA, all I can say is that despite being a Jew, if Israel thinks they can continue on the the course they are on, there are only two choices. 1. They go it alone. There is strong sentinment in this country that our lockstep support of Israel has alienated a billion Muslims, helped encourage the maniacs who sponsored what became 9/11, and is destabilizing the whole middle east. 2. The only way you are going to keep the palestinians down forever is to fight forever, die forever, and not with our help. What else is your solution - death camps - and don't forget the billion Muslims who will rise to their defense? Is that what Israel and Judaism is about?

37. #35 Steve MD What a defeatist attitude
Judy Y ,   Los Angeles   (06.22.07)
What you don't take into account is the Big Picture. Israel is just the excuse of the moment. Imagine for a moment that there is no Israel. Do you feel more secure? Are the Muslims of the world suddenly ready to give up their dream of world domination? Is the US suddenly able to relax, no more terrorist threats, no more hatred? Are you suddenly loved by the Muslims? Are your policies supported? Your culture tolerated? Muslims won't love you - ever. Study their own internal differences and how they are constantly settled by violence. Not scared yet? If you're a Christian, will your brothers feel safe now in a Muslim Jerusalem, as safe as they are in a Muslim Bethlehem? Israel is just an excuse. Europe was invaded once, when there was no Israel to speak of. If you read The Religion of Peace website you'll see that Israel is just one tiny piece - blown out of all proportion - in the world-wide plan for Muslim domination. The only honorable thing to do, Steve, is to support Israel at this time of need. Be by Israel's side and say the US will defend Israel because not to do so is a cowardly thing to do.

39. A party for the entire Nationalist public
Danny Gottlieb ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.22.07)
Not a secular party, not a religious party but rather a party for the entire National Camp, no matter who they are. This is what is needed.
40. We don't need another right-wing party
Richard ,   New York, USA   (06.22.07)
What we need is a new political system that will bring accountability in government.
