Use water canons on the Haredim, god knows they need a wash.
2. How Sad
Daniel ,   Tel Aviv   (06.20.07)
In a civilized society people can hold parades and counter demonstrations all without resorting to violence. Here we have to train special forces to protect peaceful people from violent religious extremists. I hope the Hareidim will listen to their Rabbis and just stay home and pray. At least that way they will do only good and no harm. True prayer can only be positive. Hate and intollerance have no place with HaShem.
3. Just Thinking
ben ,   singapore   (06.20.07)
I am suspicious, dont forget it wont be a difficult for a bomb blast during the gay parade and anti -gay parade. No body is going to win but ONLY DIE. Most likely the blame will fall on the Isareli People as usual. This whole parade is an invitation to disaster. For Goodness Sake Listen Idiots.Listen dont go there. I feel very suspicious about this whole event. It Is TAMMUZ . O Jacobs dont make Racheal CRY AGAIN from the wilderness ! ben singapore
4. This parade is ONLY to show that Religious Jews
Miriam ,   Jerusalem   (06.20.07)
shall have no power in this G-dless country. There's no other logical reason for this immoral parade to go through when almost 80% of the people do not want it.
5. #2 Daniel
Elisabeth McGrath ,   Sydney Australia   (06.20.07)
I am hoping that not only the Haredim will pray for Israel tomorrow. I cannot call for a day of fasting and prayer. But I will be doing both.
6. A stitch in time saves nine
Lisa ,   Israel   (06.20.07)
I know for a fact, since I was once stuck in the middle of a feud between the cops and the Hassidim on a week-end Shabbat in Bet-Shemesh whilst visiting my parents (and I'm secular), that the Hassidim instigate the violence and the Cops love responding to it because it gives them the excuse to practice using their batons freely on men, women and kids alike. I was dressed in religious garb and could have been beaten to pulp just because of the sport of beating up any Hassid. My point is that if they're half as violent with the Gays as I've personally seen them be violent towards the Hassidim, then it's going to be an extremely violent day tomorrow. There will be terrible injuries and non-stop emergencies which can cause a whole other war in itself. I myself would have been beaten if I'd run away but I walked and I prayed in my own way, that I would not be victimized. So with the violence of both the Hassidim and the Cops, it's not going to be a pretty sight. The Parade idea is fine but the location is lethal especially for themselves. Is it really worth it?! I wonder if they'll be asking themselves the same thing....after the fact. All I can say is good luck.
7. Soon the whole world will know what HaShem tolerates.
Phantom 85   (06.20.07)
At a time when Israel is surrounded by those actively seeking to destroy it, this is pure folly. What a perfect time for Hamas & Hezbullah to coordinate an attack when 7,000 valuable law & order resources are distracted by this parade.
8. #2 Daniel
Marcel ,   Florida   (06.20.07)
Sodom & Gomorrah. Hashems patience runs out again with His creation which rebels against His divine order and chooses perversion and wickedness over obedience to His law. Hw will respond with His violence and fury
9. don´t protect them
Shir ,   Finland   (06.20.07)
This is just appauling and disgusting. Why are there so many Gay parades in Israel anyway? To me, that is a sign of loose morals. They even had to organize one in the Holy city of Jerusalem. Whatever they get, they deserve. That´s my opinion.
10. Israel's corrupt court, police, govt, want a repeat of AMONA
Miriam ,   Jerusalem   (06.20.07)
affair with extreme police brutality. This past week these brutal and wicked police have constantly thrown grenades at any home next to where they were standing even at those who weren't even involved. Besides which, these cruel police illegally marched into homes of innocent people breaking doors and windows looking for whomever and whatever they wished. And they're the ones complaining of being injured. Baloney! While only 7 police were lightly injured, many, many civilians were very badly hurt by these evil men and had to be taken to emergency. The violence among the haredim is a far cry from the violence among the Leftists and PeaceNow groups where police and civilians are usually badly injured. You can't even compare it. Hardly any police were injured in these protests which were all Leshem Shamayim. But they, these cruel vicious police, already did a lot of damage. Hashem yinkam damom.
11. Where
ben ,   singapore   (06.20.07)
do you want the Magen David Adom (MDA) to wait? At the parade or at the Gaza Crossing ? It is not enough ? Whre do you want the Police and the IDF to stand ? In your STUPID FUED against the Haredim ! It is NOT ENOUGH ? PRIDE come before down fall. Pride is knocking the door. Wake UP dont Fall. IDIOTS Think ! It is not ENOUGH the burden on the medical officers and the hospital staff ? You want to add undue burden on the doctors and nurses. You think they have noting better to do ? Think ! This human resources in the Isareli Police and the IDF, you want to abuse their TIME and LIFE ? THINK ! THINK ! ben singapore
12. To all protestors: WEAR GLOVES & Protective Clothing
Chaim D. ,   Yerushalayim Ir Hkds   (06.20.07)
You'll be entering dangerous area.
13. The culture of violence and ignorace of the Haredim
Jerusalemite   (06.20.07)
The culture of violence of the Haredim shows that this dysfunctional society has lost the last of what was once almost worthy in it. Their cities and neighborhoods are in ruins (yes go and see Bnei Braq, Mea Sharim, Beitar and any other place that is run by them), currupt and violent. Another Mk from Shas was caught driving without a licence, of course this is the polices' fault (according to Miriam) the police is corrupt becuase it does not allow violence, they are corrupt because they don't allow religious mk to get 7 times the budget for ever Haredi child than they do for a secular child (and about 4 times the amount for the Mamlachti-dati). This peaceful march which has gone on in Jerusalem for the past 6 years will happen again. The Lithuanian rabbis realize this, Miriam alas does not believe in the here and now, and therefore should not worry about this parade happening.
14. Ben from Singapore, I spoke to God he said the march is ok
Jerusalemite   (06.20.07)
Ben, I am from Jerusalem and so am closer to God than you (we have a direct line), he told me that a possitive parade would be a really great reaction to violence and terror commited by the Haredi community. He told me that he does not need any help and since those very same people that march are the people that serve in the army, pay taxes, work, are productive members of society, he kind of likes them better than the opposition. What has Ben Gvir ever given to society? what has the Haredi community helped to build this state (since its very beggining?), an ounce, a dunum? THINK!
15. Great location for the parade - has been for 6 years
Jerusalemite   (06.20.07)
Hey Lisa, The parade has been going on for the past 6 years and it worked out pretty well. True Haredim tried to stab someone two years ago, but I forgive them, they do not know better, they are raised on violence and lack of morality, I am sure they will search within themselves and find the better way, the way of peace and understanding. The mere fact that they are demonstrating shows they have started to learn, the fact that they are violence shows they have a long way to go, but I am hopeful.
16. Gay parade
Baruch ,   Boston, USA   (06.20.07)
This is the sad continuing saga of an Israel gone nuts. The people who were to be a moral "light unto nations" are a symbol of debauchery and sexual aberration. The rest of the world is laughing at Israel, while the Israeli police are forced to waste time and money protecting these deviants. Why don't people just look at who these freaks are and what they stand for? It's the total opposite of a sane and morally structured society.
17. freaks? the Haredim? that is not nice to say
Jerusalemite   (06.20.07)
I know the Haredim are immoral, but it is the job of the police to protect from them even if they are busy. would you want them to let the Haredim to run free and bash their kids to death (as in the case of Rabbi Weis the head of the Badatz?) They might be freaks (the Haredim) but they have rights too. The right to demonstrate quietly. The entire world is not laughing, the entire world could not give a rats ass. Trust me, in most of the Western world (U.S. excluded) Gay people can get married, live, march and do anything they want. In backwards countries (such as your own), Iran, Saudi Arabia and so on, they suffer from oppinions such as your own.
18. # 14 And so your'e god is SATAN?
(06.20.07)
19. One would think Israel would train for attack by Syria, Iran
New York, USA   (06.20.07)
But no, not Israel. Israeli authorities only train to evict Jews out of thier homes and protect abominations and perversions in a state that's suposebly "Jewish"
20. Haredi Protest
Marc   (06.20.07)
I am against a gay parade in Israel, but would have liked to see Haredi protesting at Gush Katif. Also, Israeli army is being stretched thin, so time for "Yissaschar" to step up to the plate.
21. Shir
Jellybean ,   Chicago   (06.20.07)
I have read your posts, and I must say that you are so one-sided. You mentioned that Arabs are people too, well gays are people too. You may not like it but its true. I would rather give more sympathy and help someone who is gay then help an arab terrorists. and Yes those Palis who bomb Sedrot on a daily basis are terrorists, the Pails are guilty for even electing a terrorist group Hamas to represent them so they get what they deserve.
22. STOP THE GAY PARADE .
MIKE HAMEN ,   usa   (06.20.07)
23. Americans, stay out of Israel, we don't live for you
Jerusalemite   (06.20.07)
ALl the Americans here, Israel is not meant for you. It is meant for the people who live, work, serve in the army and are generally productive. Israeli police are here to protect our democracy, the same democracy that the Haredi community does not believe in or contribute to. This police is being forced to protect this peaceful march because of a violent society called the Haredi community (Lithuanians excluded, but maybe it is because they are learned) and not because of the march itself. The organizers have to pay for the expenses of the police and so it does not come at the expense of the public and the police is not the army and so cannot train to fight Syria. Sorry guys, the march wil march on (7th year running).
24. # 4 miriam- read my post to you-click on Jewish world
jan   (06.20.07)
and read what I wrote to you yesterday on the article that everyone was bashing you on. Hopefully this will explain things a little clearer to you. We do have power in our prayers. But we have to have faith in them and not be moved by what we see or hear. Shalom my friend, Shalom.
25. I THINK THE RABBIES ARE BEING PAYED TO SUPPORT GAY PARADE!!!
SAM WALKER ,   USA   (06.20.07)
26. Rabbis sold the torah to Peres
Eliyahu   (06.20.07)
I'm no genius but it seems to me that SHimon Peres resurrected a dead issue that had been dealt with six months ago. Do the gay people have an ongoing desire, all year round, to march in Jerusalem? No. And he did that in order to get Shas to support him for the presidency. Shimon at the kotel! Shimon suddenly kotwoing with Rabbis! I expected Shimon to commit the ultimate hypocrisy of coming out as anti-Gay (What would Beilin think?) But somehow, the rabbis sold out and voted for Peres, and sold out AGAIN and told the charedim to shut up and not protest. I'm religious but my brain still works. I even have peyos and a beard. What's up with these charedim? Is listening to their rabbis more important than listening to the torah? The rabbis are obviously playing politics and NOT making psak din. Your rabbis are as bad as the secular leaders (and I use both of those terms VERY l;oosely)
27. #2: Actually, only left wing and gays can protest.
Eliyahu   (06.20.07)
Do you remember Amona? Do you remember how before the disgrace in Gush Katif, police went onto city buses and pulled off all the religious people so they couldn't get to protest? Threatened charter bus drivers with canceling their licenses? Declare army territory anywhere there is going to be a protest? Oh but when left wingers want to protest in Chevron, no problem. Gays in Jerusalem despit the fact that it is intended to incite and disturb, also not a problem.
28. Believe in your prayers, stay and home and pray tommorow
Jerusalemite   (06.20.07)
Hey guys, I have a suggestion for the Haredi community, do at the Lithuanian Rabbis advised and stay home and pray, contemplate and think about your terrible behaviour. If you go to the streets and behave violently you obviously don't believe in the power of prayer. If you believe in prayer it shoudl work, no?
29. yes the police is against are you :) how childish can you be
Jerusalemite   (06.20.07)
I love people who blame the police for being on the other side of the political specturm. Trust me there are plenty of gay right wingers at the march. Every week the Left complains the army is against them in Bil'in, that they get beaten up in Hebron and so on. No one likes the police, but adults understand that they are needed in a democratic society. Violence is not an acceptable form of protest, not here and not in the hitnakut. Throwing rocks at cars, spreading sharp objects on highways, attacking city workers (who have nothing to do with the police) are all forms of unacceptable protest (in a democratic society). Grow up, understand that there are people who are very different than you. They contribute to society, they serve in the army, they pay taxes, they have the right for equality. They should be allowed to be seen heard, get married have children just like in the rest of the western world (apart from the U.S of course). This is what the country was founded on, this is what the Halutzim dreamed of, you might try and reading Herzl some time. Of course this is not a Haredi dream (which is studying all day while your neighboor pays for the garbage cans you just burned last night).
30. Haredem im just thinking out loud here and have a question?
Mike ,   Iraeli   (06.20.07)
What is the difference what you are doing and what islam is doing in Gaza today? They are forcing non religious to where and act acording to what they belive there God wants, furthermore they threat with violence if there "laws" are not followed. There fore i ask all you "loving peacfull" people, why you should be treated by the Army or police any differently? Some free advise to all haredim, "live and let live" but if you want to get physical join the Army do some good in your life for a change.
