1. REBBE?
STEVEN STEIN ,   USA   (06.21.07)
WHY WAS HE SO IMPORTANT? HE WAS ANTI ZIONIST! HE WAS WAITING FOR THE MESSIAH TO COME TO GIVE ISRAEL! SATMARS AND LUBVICHER JEWS WHO DONT SERVE IN THE ARMY, BUT WANT PROTECTION AND HOLD OFFICIES IN NEW YORK, WHO CARES
2. #1 Yeah you would know since you live in the US LOL
(06.21.07)
You are so blind, but don't mind me keep getting your news solely at Ynet and Haaretz
3. Our prophet Moses was a humble man
E. Rauch ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (06.21.07)
Menahem Mendl was not. I do not think he should be condemned for the idol worship which has been build around him. But he should not be exonerated either. There was something in his behavior and his message which encouraged this followers to begin a Mashiach-cult. Instead of insisting on the Jewish Idea, he encouraged the worship of his own person. Sad.
4. the greatest of them all
jackie   (06.21.07)
the Rabbi was the greatest leader the jews have had since Moses. im a live and a proud jew because of him and his shlichim. rebbe we all love you! the negativity was always there. but you continued and helped the jews recover from the holocaust. we miss you
5. #1 Steven
Leo ,   melbourne   (06.21.07)
The Rebbe wasn't "anti zionist" - he is actually more "zionist" than the zionists today who believe in giving up land. He was one of the staunchest advocates of not giving away any land at all. He strongly advocated for Israel all his life, strongly believed in a Jewish state but only rejected the zionist notion of secularism. B/thw a large number of chabadnicks serve in the army including elite Israeli combat units.
6. to #1 uchh, it drives me crazy...
jan ,   israel   (06.21.07)
when people who don't know what they're talking about write talkacks. the rebbe was not an anti zionist. the chabad movement and satmar are total enemies and one has nothing to do with the other. the rebbe and his predecessor owned property in hevron and incouraged lubavitchers to settle in yehuda and shomron. and btw, there are tons of lubavitchers in the army, more than any other "ultra orthodox" sect. but of course, you being in america, wouldn't know that. all the saintly rabbis of our generation, the baba sali, rav caduri, rebbes of other chassidim, everybody respected the rebbe and went for his blessing. so, really mr stein, i'd have to choice thier opinion over yours.
7. STEVEN STEIN
Eli ,   Israel   (06.21.07)
Steven, You talk nonsense! learn that when you come onto a website come with correct facts which Leo from Melbourne points out. We need to show respect and honour to such a revered Rebbe. The only reason why people throw negative responses is purely because of ignorance but as a Jew you should know better not to speak Lashon Haraa as this is extremely dangerous. I wish you a good day and suggest checking out http://www.chabad.org/therebbe/default.asp
8. Come home Leo of Melborne

12. The Rebbe’s yahrzeit
Patrick B. Leek ,   Bexley, Ohio U.S.A.   (06.21.07)
I fully agree with # 4. Can't believe it's been 13 years.
13. #4, #10
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (06.21.07)
"Recover from the Holocaust." Might not "prevent the Holocaust" becoming to a Messiah? And as for Jesus, whoever he was, he died as a young man, and in great time. Somehow I don't think the Chabad Rebbe died a similar death.
14. Reuven Brauner
Eli ,   Kfar-Saba   (06.21.07)
Who are you to talk lashon haraa about chabad and the Rebbe. How can you call one of the biggest outreach organizations a cult so that the world can see your horrible remarks ? I suggest you become more knowledgable and learn rather than throw stupid and very silly remarks.
15. 10 Stupid Lashon ha-Ra
Paqid 16 Netzarim ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (06.21.07)
The difference is between a Torah-teaching Rebbe versus a gentile-counterfeited idol that stands for superseding the Torah with the NT. PS: the most popular Israeli Jewish newspaper not publishing candlelighting times on Yom Shishi in its on-line counterpart is a disgrace to Israel and Jewish readers. Even ha-Aretz publishes candlelighting times on Yom Shishi. Paqid Yirmeyahu Israeli Orthodox Jew Advancing Logic as Halakhic Authority Welcoming Jews & non-Jews www.netzarim.co.il
16. you have no idea what you are talking about
mike ,   new york   (06.21.07)
hey before you start talking maybe open your eye a bit to look and see what is going on first of all the rebbe suported israel the most in the wold he cared for it the most in the six day war he is from the only to say the we will win the war and the gulf war too and talk about the consept about not giving a way land to the anemis like we see now with gaza what is going on etc. i can talk all day about him no end and even that is not all
17. #1 Steven I have a challange for you
motti Slodowitz ,   israel   (06.21.07)
Steven, who do you emulate ? If you have kids, who would you want them to look up to? The Rebbe cared about every jew (even your) as well as all of humanity. He represents the ultimate Jew. Calling him the messiah (or not) should not change ones esteem for this great leader who has had the greatest impact on the world in our genneration. Who do YOU emulaite ?
18. to #4
Benjamin ,   NY, USA   (06.22.07)
The Rebbe was the greatest jewish leader since Moses! How could you compare anyone to our Prophet and Teacher! And how can you forget Joshua, David, Soloman, Judah Maccabee, Rambam, etc.! The Rebbe should have discouraged the cult of personality that was built around him, he did not. Many Chabad see him as divine or semi-divine. Such a cult of personality is what G-d's greatest prophet consciously guarded against. If we want to look for a man who epitomizes g-dliness and humility and core of jewish values, look to Moses above all and to the Prophets, not the Rebbe.
19. ??????????????????
Jewish CANADIAN ,   Toronto   (06.22.07)
Is there a reason YNET has ceased posting tbs on this topic? Are U afraid of the religious fanatics? I expected better from YNET.
20. to the Jewish Canadian
Canadian Jew ,   Montreal   (06.22.07)
Being a religious fanatic does label me a Canadian Jew as opposed to the enlighted Jewish Canadian you are. Main difference between us is not only semanics : - my grandchildren will surely be Jews but perhaps not canadian. Who cares ? - your grandchildren will perhaps be canadian but surely no Jews. We care !
21. 30 seconds that changed my life
malcolm   (06.22.07)
My father was gravely ill abroad and needed a Bracha. So in desperation I went to the Rebbe. After visiting the Rebbe my father's situation turned around enough to enable him to return home where died under more than ideal circumstances. I will never forget the incredible experience looking into the Rebbe's deep blue eyes.He was full of LOVE, COMPASSION & OTHER WORLDLY WISDOM (putting it mildly). Mysteriously I reconnected with my Jewish spiritual roots shortly thereafter. This was not something I looked for nor expected. So all the above who condemn without having first hand experience are indeed foolish. The Rebbe loved all Jews and founded the largest international Jewish organization that reaches out to every and any Jew regardless of his or her affiliation. ..WITH OPEN ARMS! You may find yourself practically any place on earth and not to far away is a Chabad House where you can nourish your Jewish Soul (and belly too!)
22. Can you imagine
ben ,   singapore   (06.22.07)
the things these fellows will do if the knew the place Moshe was buried ? Never learned anything so far eh ? If the REBBE is alive probably he will give you a lecture on IDIOL WORSHIP ! Without APOLOGY ben singapore
23. to #18
jackie   (06.22.07)
the rebbe was better than all of them, u like it ior not, the world knows it the jewish world knows it taht is why there is so much jelousy of him to him and about him. get a life and start looking around how the rebbe gave his life for judasim for you and for me. the rebbe loves you even if u dont like him, not a bad worrd came out of his mouth, that is better than u and 99.999% of the whole world, the rebbe never judged anyyone for the bad rather ina postive maner, maybe look at that and learn something. the rebbe used to cry when he heard that someone in india was not feeling well and when there where probelms in israel. a true leader is someone that cares about people that dont care about him, but the reb need tbe a "LEADER" loved every jew and CARED about every jew. im no chabadnik and my friends all know that i live in NJ in not a chabad area orginally from israel im disgusted by such posts! low people...i guess when u dont need to post ur name when u say something low u are ashamed to do that. rebbe we miss u, the world misses u and we hope mashiach will come soon and we will se u as moshaich or not, dont really care. G-d is lucky to have you around up there, always smiling and i hope u are still afrabring and giving sichos to the rambam and rashi!
24.  Hero
ben ,   singapore   (06.22.07)
Making HERO worship eh ! Only one HERO - G-d - you know the ABC of monothesim. One G_D ! Go read AGAIN the 13 DIVINE ATTRIBUTES ! idiots ! NO EXCUSE FOR YOUR ABOMINATIONS ! ben singapore.
25. Believe it or not The Rebbe is ALIVE.
Yaccov Israel Asher ,   NY, USA   (06.22.07)
26. R' Avraham Yitzchak Hacohen Kook
Klaas   (06.22.07)
Has more honest followers than the rebbe will ever have!! 6 million Jews are living in the land Schneerson never even wanted to visit... The true chabadnikim as i saw them in Israel (tzfat, kfar chabad and even eilat) truly hate the state of israel do not celebrate Yom Haatzma'ut or Yom Yerushalayim and do not even commemorate Yom Hakikaron!!! I think Chabad should be dealt with from within tear it apart from the inside and all there is left is emptiness and falls beliefs the only Truth is Hashem the Rebbe turned their heart away from Hashem and that is what we call avodah Zarah!! Shame on them!
27. not avodah zarah
Michael   (06.22.07)
Nobody is doing avodah zarah here. Praying at at Tzadik's grave has been a Jewish practice for thousands of years... Go learn Torah.
28. to Klaas 26#
Ezra haGuer   (06.22.07)
True, Rabbi Kook has more followers than Habad. And true again, the Mizrahim are doing a wonderful job rdeeeming the land of Yisrael. But Rabbi Kook did not send shaliahim to every remote place of the earth to save Jews of assimilation. The Mizrahim did not open more than 3.000 jewish learning institutions around the world. They are not the source of ten of thousands of Jews in the Galut who made Teshuva. So, nobody is perfect and every one is doing its share to save Am Yisrael and fasten the Gueula. We should have a lot of Ahavat Yisrael and work all together past our differences. Pure lashon hara you gave in your talkback is not productive . It does not deserve your point. In fact your words are a shame for the entire zionist-religious community.
29. And Baba Sali
S Judah ,   London   (06.22.07)
I am not a Chabadnik nor do I believe in the messianic views of some in Chabad, however The Rebe was a good man and Chabad in general do a lot of good work and will always help a fellow Jew. However I should add that each year 50,000 Jews visit the Kever of the Baba Sali and many come through out the year. This great man was not a formal leader of amy movement and sought no recognition. His greatness though was discovered by the masses. I look forward to YNet reporting on the Baba Sali as well.
30. Please learn!!!
michaelbenavraham   (06.22.07)
The holiness of these gravesites is derived from the lingering connection of the soul to its point of final departure from the body after burial. Many of the previously unknown burial sites of famous tzadikim in the vicinity of Safed were first identified by the holy Ari (Rabbi Yitzchak Luria - 1534-1572), who was able to sense the presence of the specific soul hovering about each place. This presence is especially strong on the tzadik's yahrzeit (anniversary of the passing).
