1. state prefer using his money for gay pride!
stephane ,   france   (06.22.07)
people need shelters, holocaust survivors need help from govenment, but olmerde prefer giving money to gay pride or palestinian terrorist authority! this is the israel of today...
2. The corrupt government has probably given it to Arabs
Nannette ,   London UK   (06.22.07)
The present government of Israel can't be trusted with Jewish money. Of course they keep it back from those who need it, because they never intended it to help the victims of this terrorism. Unfortunately, the naive diaspora keeps donating to government branches who claim the money will go to where it's needed - except they forget to say that it's not destined for Jewish causes. Get rid of the traitors in government and get the sheltrs built now, before they end up in jail, not only for fraud, but for having so much Jewish blood on their hands.
3. Then, why give 400m to Palestanians?
Daniel ,   Israel   (06.22.07)
4. no money for bomb shelters in the North
Daisy Stern ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.22.07)
I guess it is so much more important to spend 13 million NIS for a force of 8000 policemen to make sure the gay parade in the Holy City of Jerusalem takes place- that is how much the police spent , by their own account. For that , this miserable government does find the funds. What lowlives! They should be cursed, just as the rabbis have said.
5. Bomb shelters in the North
roxy ,   israel   (06.22.07)
The fact that nothing has been done to upgrade shelters in the north, and hospitals Like Rambam which had several hits in the area around it has not been reinforced is an outrage. Here we sit under threats from Iran and the government sits idily by doing nothing to make the promised improvements. If the government doesn't have the money the allow theorganizations to raise it,but tell the public the truth don't mislead us. The homefront needs to be fully protected before the government even thinks about going after Iran's nukes, or we may have mass casualities with no way to save them because Rambam and other hospitals were damaged. Fix bomb shelters now(I bet the one the government ministers have access to is fully fitted),reinforce all hospitals with trama depts before you go after Iran!!!
6. promises, promises, promises
Shoshannah ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.22.07)
It seems our "government" (and many preceeding the current one) think it's fine to simply promise something and then fuhgitaboutit... somehow, we'll just take them at their miserable word and go away? Not a chance - this has GOT to change, the sooner the better! On the other hand - why keep preparing (or talking about) defensive measures - why don't we just go ahead and end the terrorism once and for all???????
7. Olmert, Barak, worst PM's in Israel's history
(06.22.07)
8. Is there anyone out there that will start a political
jason white ,   afula,israel   (06.22.07)
party with one of it's aims to try and punish the present regime and the past ones? We need a party that will punish all traitors and their stooges. That coward olmert can not wait to give money to abu ab-ass and his murderers. But Jews have inadequate shelters!
9. If Ynet were talking about conditions for Arabs
Debbie ,   Seattle   (06.23.07)
the whole "international community" would be mobilized to accuse Israel for the inhumane, racist, criminal way it treats its "Arab" citizens. But since it's Jews who are victimized by Arab violence and then neglected by their own government, then nobody cares. Thank you Ynet for bringing this shame to the attention of everyone. These pictures should be reprinted as often as possible. People should print them on postcards and mail them to every member of the Knesset.
10. Here is the Knesset web site. And here is what you can do.
Me ,   USA   (06.23.07)
Here are all of your representatives: http://knesset.gov.il/mk/heb/mkindex_current.asp Israel is a parliamentary democracy. Gather your friends. Start a web site. Petition representatives of the parties, demanding that they take action immediately. Be willing to protest. Be willing to work even with political adversaries if they are willing to help force the government to prepare the country for the next war. Until the politicians wake the hell up and see this as an emergency, they will continue to play stupid little games. Jews abroad should also be mad as hell. Our families are in danger because this incompetent collection of cretins prefers spin and politics to PROTECTING PEOPLE'S LIVES. Remember, next time it will be SYRIA shooting missiles, and Iran armed with nuclear weapons. Can we for once have a sense that this is IMPORTANT?
11. Major problem still remains
Josh Adler ,   Israel   (06.24.07)
All of this still does not address the problem of lack of any kind of shelter in open public areas. The streets and pedestrian routes, parks, playgrounds, sports fields, bus stops, etc. Without shelter in these areas the civilian population will once again be holed up in thier overcrowded poorly ventilated shelters for days and weeks at a time in the next war. Providing shelter in the public places mentioned above will not only prevent injury and save lives. It will greatly reduce the trauma and phycological damage, especially for children, caused by not having some type of normal routine of going to work, play, school and shopping during a missile crisis. It is inconcievable that the Homefront population shouldn't be provided this shelter. That's what Operation LifeShield is doing.
