May be Mr. Mubarak forgets that all their weapons comes through his lands.
2. Mubarak, The Defender of Legitimacy.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (06.23.07)
How funny can you get? This coming from the dictator who has never allowed a free & fair election in, what is it now, 30 years? From a country that routinely jails opposition leaders, with no freedom of speech, where people are tortured systematically, that abuses Sudanese refugees forcing them to flee to Israel, that periodically has riots against it's Christian minority, & that has allowed the arms smuggling that gave Hamas it's victory. Don't you love the way Arab dictators use language? You'd think they came from Sweden or Canada. There isn't a "legitimate" gov't in any Arab country. Fatah could not be called legitimate either. Were the origins of the Egyptian dictatorship not based on a coup? Perhaps they should restore the "legitimate" monarchy they overthrew. Sorry, that wasn't legitimate either. It was just left-over from the Turks. Normally, Mr Mubarak would hint that this was Israel's fault & the gov't controled press would be full of Zionist plots. But since our idiotic gov't. supports Fatah, the usual suspect of Arab paranoia is unavailable. So Hamas is illegitimate - they are a bunch of bastards, after all.

Hani ,   Palestine Vagabond   (06.23.07)
"There isn't a "legitimate" gov't in any Arab country." I beg to differ Terry. The "sacked" Palestinian govt. (the only legitimate one today by legal criteria) was elected in fair and free elections. Independent observers from all over the civilized world attested to this. Nice try.
4. Mubarak The Hypocrit
Hani ,   Palestine Vagabond   (06.23.07)
He speaks with such immoral authority! What do Egypt, North Korea, Syria, and Cuba have in common? Perhaps jailed dissidents in Egypt could answer this question, of course risking to be flogged again, again, and again.

assume that "legitimacy" in Islamofascist countries has the same meaning as that used in democracies. Legitimacy there simply means bearing no competition or opposition to the present regime.
6. Egypt correctly more concerned than Israel
Sidney ,   USA   (06.23.07)
Under Hamas Gaza will be a base for the Moslem Brotherhood against Egypt. Mubarak should be worried.
7. At least Egypt made a public statement against
(06.23.07)
the rogue, terrorist organization Hamas. Well, maybe not against HAMAS, but against their actions in this case. While all these negative comments about Egypt may be true, at least their statement is on the side of order and sanity (in contrast with Iran). Maybe Egypt and Lebanon are finally learning that allowing the presence of terrorist organizations will eventually come back to bite you. "Cairo cannot tolerate an "Islamist mini-state" on its eastern border.." We'll see about that. Could be interesting.

democratically last year(declared so by all international observers).Fatah was receiving arms and ammo from israel & U.S. not to hold a military parade, but to overthrow Hamas.Re: all the shenanigans against Hamas by fatah see the fine article by Dr. Elias Akleh, 'Palestine at Cross Roads' in Globalresearch.ca,June 23,2007.Hamas also state that they found documents and tapes showing the plot in the Preventive Security Building, after the takeover. There is also an article by Ahmed Yousuf in Washington Post,June 20,2007.He is Political Advisor to Haniyeh.Explains that Palestinians want what every nation wants:self determination, evolution of civil society,MODERNITY,economic development and access to world markets. And is it a sin to profess one's own creed when everyone else in the world is professing theirs? Mubarak is being very short sighted. There has to be a return to the Unity Goverment.Isolating Hamas will not work.

your correct that there hasn't been an election in Egypt. If there was one unfortunalty the muslim brotherhood might win and then there would be more retard bastards in power.

12. #9 = Another bad attempt at propaganda
(06.23.07)
Fatah received arms and ammo from US and Israel? OK--who did hamas receive their "arms and ammo" from? Why did Fatah not overthrow hamas? When did they try? The world can see that hamas tried to destroy fatah--violently. Hamas was elected, yes, but has shown it's true face. The world will not support a unity government. And you might take note that Egypt is NOT happy. Even muslim nations are losing patience with terrorist gangsters. Bad propaganda. Nice try. Everyone can see through it.
13. A coup Mr. Mubarak ?

the Palestinian elections were widely held as legitimate, and I will grant you that. However, along with choosing a leader is dealing with the consequences of that choice. The fact that the civilized world would not recognize a group of terrorists as a government worthy of feeding billions in aid to is something Palestinians knew was coming and did nothing to avoid. Lets face it. Palestinians want it both ways. They want help and they elect a pit bull that bites the hand that feeds it. So while the Palestinian government may be seen as legitimate, it must also be seen as a pariah.

Ben Temalion ,   Shiloh, MO USA   (06.24.07)
Abbas already called the elected group's action a putsch while at the same time disclaiming the fable of an ancient pal homeland. The difference between the Hamas "coup" and the Kadima Putsch is that Kadima took power without being elected. Olmert "Abe Vigoda" has never even been elected to a party list to allow him to be a member of the Knesset. Now that is a coup.
19. to #9, the Hamas sympathiser
Arul ,   Malaysia   (06.24.07)
Hamas received training, arms and ammunition from Iran. Get it correctly. Self determination, they could have achieved as early as 1948. These palis rejected every proposal. Instead of living peacefully, they listened to their Arab masters and now are suffering. Even now, why can't they recognise Israel and live peacefully ? Israel evacuated Gaza , but they are firing rockets into Israel, the legitimate Goverment can't stop this ??
20. The Egyptian Phobia
Ali ,   Europe   (06.24.07)
To the Americans, Israelis and Egyptians. Till when could the iron fist work on the muslim brotherhood? Since the 1950's Egypt is relaying on the tight security to opress the brother hood but systems can fail some times, and the current Egyptian govenment does not have the people's backing, so are the Israelis and Americans waiting to wake up one day and find that they have to deal the ulltimate nightmare or may be invest in talks with the likely successors?

yes jamal also the egyption policy never helped the palastinians also it was since 1977 when sadat stepped to jerusalem .the palastinians hoped he would helped them // but never /in camp david / palastinians were not more than people owned by the israil // in 1982 the palastinians were killed in lebanon as a direct result of the peace between egypt and israil // from that time we knew how much that peace are a disastour to palastin // israil is an enemy but egypt is not an enemy to palastinians but not helping them

islamic brotherhood in egypt is not popular, contrary to what you may think. maybe a wish on your part???? egyptians who are enjoying some modicum of secularism don't have a wish to have an iranian regime in their country. they want freedom, unlike a muslim brotherhood state that will take all that freedom away and throw egypt back to the dark ages of camels, goat milk and tents in the desert. as far as we are concerned you are a cancer in our country and mubarak will forever do his best to put you little guys with tiny brains and no education on the backburner. stay away from our country and bury your obsessive islamic fanaticism and ideology. it belongs in the 12th century and now we live in the 21st. you want islamic brotherhood, leave egypt and go to afghanistan. bye bye! nilah wahbat cairo, egypt

talal ,   Gaza   (06.24.07)
Oki Hani, Hamas got to power throughout free elections. But, it has took over PNA by force. Actually they have thrown the electoral legitimacy, and preferred to occupy the whole authority in Gaza. The essential here question is, why did they do that?, and how could they face the world after that? I think, Hamas has to pay the price for misconceptualizing the political play in the middle east.
