This being said helping Fatah to maintain control over the territories and increasing the economic help to support the "only legitimate government" is a must. Hatred grows often on poverty. You may wish to consider joint exercises with Fatah/PAL forces against HAMAS and a show of good faith on both sides. But to give any form or military support without some tangible earning of trust, and working towards cooperation in mutually beneficial fight against terror (i.e. HAMAS) is absolutely insane and irresponsible (but totally consistent with Olmert's character and track record). T'chabdehu V'tchashdehu is what we are taught. Joint efforts with FATAH/PAL (and Egypt on southern border) may be a good idea to promote cooperation as a precursor to negotiations and a tangible effort to implementation of peace with concrete cooperative efforts that can be dynamically adjusted according to successes and failures of the mutual trust. But to blindly turn over any form of military materials without some form of control over their deployment is irresponsible and naive. When will you learn? When will the govt. learn and vote no-confidence and put Olmert in the back of the unemployment line where he belongs?
