4. Foreign aid
(06.25.07)
Israel still receives foreign aid, and from an economic point of view will always count on it for economic survival. This is used by the Americans in Israel and other places in the world in order to get political leverage. This is not philosophy, but common sense. The PA is also hanging to the ambilical cord of the int'l community, more than Israel, but if given the possibility, palestinians will do far better. The question is, how much is Israel ready to give? (note that we speak of freedom of movement and action, and not how much money).
5. It would be better for the West to cut their losses now
Tracy W   (06.25.07)
American aid was meant as charity in the past, and it's now an investment to defeat Hamas. Arab aid was meant to keep Palestinians on life support because they are an excellent PR weapon against Israel, as well as a source of terror against the Jews. There was never any serious attempt on the part of the West to develop their infrastructure or their education. First of all, the word "accountability" was tabou. To this day Palestinians can't tell what they did with the money. When it comes to education, the West was also looking away from an educational system based on hatred and the idea of conquering all the land of Israel. Although every human rights organization scrutinizes Israel, they are all blind to what goes on in Palestinian schools. Nothing will change in the WB. Corruption and teaching hatred will continue as usual. Now there is a new twist. Many Fatah members were being paid on the side by Hamas out of Iran's deep pockets. That's why the Hamas takeover of Gaza happened so quickly, and why many Fatah fled without a fight. The same method will be applied in the WB. So while the American government provides with state-of-the-art weapons and army vehicles to Fatah, Hamas will wait patiently and will infiltrate Fatah or keep them on the payroll, just as it did in Gaza. When the WB is well provided with enough American weapons and equipment, then Hamas will make its move. And it will be easy. Next those weapons will be turned against Israel. The US keeps making the same mistakes, again and again. The idea of Palestine is wrong, it's just not viable. No amount of American money can turn them into a peaceful, democratic and developing country. There is too much hatred in that population, divided by internal factions (even Hamastan has rogue factions), and consumed by its desire to conquer Israel. The West should cut their losses and discuss with Jordan, Egypt and even the Saudis, how best to help Palestinian families emigrate from both Gaza and the WB. A nice financial aid package for those governments, and the individual families could persuade them. It would be much easier than to prop up a nest of terror and call it a country. All it would take is a change of outlook and American determination. It can be done.
6. Saudi Arabia
Guy ,   Israel   (06.25.07)
produces 10 million barrels of oil a day. There are 4 and a half million "refugees". At 70 $ per barrel that gives each "refugee" 155, 000 $. Families of ten, and there are many, would receive 1,550,000 $. One day in the history of the world and the problem is solved.
7. Abbas will form a new unity governmnet with Hamas.
Gerald ,   Paris   (06.25.07)
It is clear to all that in no time Abbas will form a new unity governmnet with Hamas. Only fools do not forsee it, especially Keith Dayton.

12. money can not buy love
m   (06.27.07)
We tend to stress far too much importance on getting a job earning money, become content. Yet peace alludes, because the emphasis is material, and man is created in the image of God, and we are told 'we all fall short.' Man is created to reflect the 'glory of god' and we should be developing , wisdom love and discernment, but instead we see a man who is materially well off, and we think he has it made. What fools we can be. 'same for a nation as for a man'
