1. He points out what the Palestinians can benefit
Hamburger ,   Hamburg   (06.26.07)
He points out what the Palestinians can benefit from releasing his son, and not so much his own profit. Smart guy. Unfortunately, those are hardly the people one could reason with...
2. What would Noam consider a good deal ?
redmike ,   tel aviv   (06.26.07)
I would like to know what Noam would consider Israel do to get Gilad back? Let's hear from him .. "I'd be willing to ...... " Would he put his son's interests first or his country's ?

That's a totally pointless question. Noam Shalit has no control over the decision-making process. Instead of coldly implying a lack of patriotism on his part, why don't you instead ask yourself how you would feel if it was your son?
4. To: #2 - Redmike - What would you do if it was your son?
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (06.26.07)
I certainly have many issues with some of the statements and critisim of Olmert by Noam Shalit in this matter but it is NOT my kid who is in the hand of terrorists or "militants" as the overseas media like to call them. I would probably scream and yell even louder. Your question: "Would he put his son's interests first or his country's ? " is cruel and un-called for! You want to know the answer? Then get yourself over to Mitzpe Hila and have the guts to ask Noam Shalit face to face. Thank goodness I am not in the position that Noam Shalit is! I don't know what I would do if, like the Shalits, the Regevs and the Eldads as well as the Arads, the Baumels, the Katzs and the Feldmans, I didn't see and hear from one of my kids for a year or more.
5. #3 - I would put my country - many people - before my son !
redmike ,   tel aviv   (06.26.07)
'Coldy' ? Dispassionately, might be a better word. There is no other way to look at this. Would I want many more people to die and many more to be kidnapped because of my son? Of course not. To answer 'yes' expresses selfishness, nothing more and nothing less. If I were captured, would I want hundreds of terrorists released to save my skin - NO. The main problem with releasing prisoners or agreeing to any terms is that you motivate more kidnappings. BTW - Noam continually attempts to affect the 'decision making process'. I have 4 children and 5 grandchildren.
6. Hamas interviewing Gilad Shalit`s father
Nora ,   Tel Aviv   (06.26.07)
This "Back door policy" won`t work. Gil`ad Shalit`s father is as powerless as a dead battery. What then is the real aim of Hamas? To enroll the leftist media in israel, so that this media start shouting: The government has to help Shalit by accepting Hamas`s conditions. Media, beware, Hamas isstarting to use you.
