Paul, Israelis are generally not native English speakers & that word & similar Anglo-Saxon expletives do not carry the same connotations or emotional charge. In other words, they are not "dirty" words in the sense that they are in England or America. More to the point, this is a very emotional issue - that word was actually quite appropriate under the circumstances. My reaction to the release of the criminal murder Barghouti included the same word. I just didn't write it in the talkback but I would bet you that 99% of people who read the article used the same word to themselves. To tell you the truth, I rarely hear Olmert mentioned anymore without that word; it's become part of his name.

A premature move would strengthen terror rather than prevent it and this would be harmful. The discussion would move on to importing people from other countries instead of focussing on maintaining peace. That basically means a Hamas presence that would overthrow Abbas and sink the ship. In other words, Abbas's recommendations are a great way to provide for Abbas's ultimate overthrow and an ultimate extension of Hamasstan. Either Abbas has to see the light and stop making such rediculous comments now, or Israel might as well as cut to the chase and allow "free" passage of Hamas, facing the rocket launches on Tel Aviv as a consequence. Israel has to politely say no to Abbas's suicide attempts.
