1. And who the hell does Hamas think they are?
The Doc ,   Haifa, Israel   (06.26.07)
They are a terrorist organization and targeted for neutralization sooner rather than later - to the dismay of their Top Satan in Iran - Ahmedinejad. It is like the enemy has a say on which weapon one should use to fight it.
2. WHO IS ASKING FOR PERMISSION?
Tonto ,   US   (06.26.07)
3. ISRAEL AND PALESTINE AGREE - NO QUARTET - PLEASE
Andrew ,   Miami,Fl   (06.26.07)
IM SURE THE ARE BOTH SICK OF HAVING A "QUARTET" DECIDE THEIR FUTURE
4. Hamas Would Prefer Ahmadinejad ...
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (06.26.07)
but he's busy building nukes at the moment.
5. Oh no!
Peter ,   Toronto Canada   (06.26.07)
I am shocked that Hamas doesnt approve. Perhaps they would like to appoint Rafsanjani who once called for a nuclear attack on Israel. Too bad Nasser is dead, they may have approved him. Someone needs to let Hamas know that they are not a party to any deliberations and as such the world doesnt care what they want.
6. Hamas protests Blair.
(06.26.07)
That means they want him in their corner.Allways the same game.
7. HAS ANYBODY ASKED HAMAS OPINION?
Robert Renders ,   mechelen, belgium   (06.26.07)
8. Iran and arab world will ignore Blair. This is not inteligent
Roger   (06.26.07)
9. Israel press continually promotes those that it shouldn't !!
redmike ,   tel aviv   (06.26.07)
I moved to Israel three years ago and find the Israeli press to be one of the worst in the world. Continually promoting the 'enemy' and the 'underdog' and I don't know why!? They continually give excessive column inches to nobodies like Peace Now, Machsom Watch etc and now to Hamas. These groups thrive on publicity and the press here present them with a 'feast' at every possible occasion. Look at the column inches given to Hamas because they sent a tape. Hamas are merely playing mind games and the press here fall for it. Sad !!
10. #8. And they are ignoring Israel - is THAT intelligent?
The Doc ,   Haifa, Israel   (06.26.07)
The Muslims have been ignoring Israel's Peace efforts forever - and even worse, they reciprocated these efforts with war and terror. Also they have been breaking each and every agreement that they did sign with Israel. It is clear that they adopted a policy of all or nothing so there is nothing to negotiate for, and nobody to negotiate with. This is not a question of "intelligence" it is a question of relevance. Blair may be irrelevant to the Muslims, but then, the only thing which is relevant to Muslims is the desruction of Israel - so what should we do in order to be "intelligent" and "relevant" - commit national suicide? No Sir. We will fight for our ancestral land regardless of what the Muslims and some of the rest of teh world think or want. Sooner or later, everybody will have to live with the concept that Jews have returned home and they will stay at home - nobody will move us from here again! The sooner everybody understands and accepts this fact, the better. At least there will be less "holy martyrs" (read terrorists) to visit the 72 hairy virgins on their part, and less murdered women and children on our side.
11. Hamas objections correct but not for the reasons
(06.26.07)
given. Blair should not involve himself in this region simply because he doesn't understand the problem. The "Palestinian" problem will continue until the end.
12. Blair
Nemesis   (06.26.07)
Personally,I don't think Jesus/Mohammed/whoever,could bring peace to this area..and who the hell do Hamas think they are anyway..they have no credidbility whatsoever, except in their own fanatical minds.
13. Sad to say, I agree with Hamas on anything, but
ilana   (06.26.07)
Blair as ME onvoy is a yet another disaster for Israel. READERS, please search the "added" responsibilities Bush has made a part of the envoy job description. It is ALL for the benefit of the 'pals'. Blair and Bush belong together, in a cell in Iraq, having their cold scraps served by Condi.
14. GO FOR IT TONY!!!
(06.26.07)
15. Hamas is a terrorist organization
Caroline ,   London   (06.26.07)
so exactly when would they be asked their opinion on anything to do with peace?A JOKE. they should crawl back to the hole tehy came from
16. BottomLine:: Choice of Envoy was made by those who give aid.
KMR ,   Middle East   (06.26.07)
17. BLIAR!!
Thomas ,   Philadelphia USA   (06.26.07)
18. #9 redmike - Israeli media are the voice of the government
Nannette ,   London   (06.26.07)
The Israeli media are unprofessional and have little or no imagination when it comes to presenting the regular Israeli point of view. Notice how distainful and scornful they are of religious Jews. They give the enemy and the antisemites so much fodder, that the diaspora suffer antisemitic attacks because of their sheer ignorance and stupidity.
19. Britain is consistent - always against Israel
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (06.26.07)
The Arab world is peeved with Blair because the naughty fellow did bow down to Arab oil and condemn Israel for bombing Beirut. Let face it, the Hezbollah started it and Bush and Blair, through Rice and Beckett, did not let us finish the job. They concocted the Security Copucil Resolution 1701 which forced the cease fire on Israel and condemned Israel for the deaths in Qana where many of the “dead” got up and went home when the TV cameras were turned off. The proof of this is that Udi Goldwasser and Eldad Regev are still being held by Hezbollah in breach of International Law and the Geneva Convention. Anyone hear Blair call for an arrest warrant on Nasrallah? The question that should be asked is not if Hamas likes Blair but if Israel will see in Blair an honest broker or will he follow in the footsteps of every British Government since the end of WWII and side with the Arabs? When was the last time that the United Kingdom voted against the Arabs and for Israel? Never! The most we can expect is an abstention. Please note that the UK abstained on 29 November 1947 on the vote on the United Nations Partition Plan for Palestine or United Nations General Assembly Resolution 181. Indeed, the United Kingdom is no friend of Israel so why should we welcome Tony Blair? Another question that should be raised is Russia’s objectivity and attitude towards Israel in this “Quartet”. Russia sells arms to those wishing to destroy the State of Israel, stands against those opposing the Iranian Megalomaniac Ahmadinijhad and is pro Arab. Put this with Russia’s history regarding Jews and it must be obvious to anyone with a modicum of intelligence that this “Quartet” is playing in a very flat key!
20. #18 - thanks. I hadn't considered that aspect ...
redmike ,   tel aviv   (06.26.07)
I was looking at it from here and not from there although I am from London. It's getting to the point that I don't want to read any of the local press. The TV news is better balanced ..
21. Blair not a good choice, for many, many reasons.... LOL
david ,   usa   (06.26.07)
22. Redmike and Nannette from UK
Mike ,   Raanana   (06.26.07)
Firstly i strongly urge the both of you to watch BBC it seems like its more to you taste. Secondly Red Mike Israeli press is free to cover what they wish, if you dont like it you can always turn to American (Fox, CNN, or Sky and BBC) Then again you are certainly free to follow Al-Gezera if thats your wish, the point is your free to see read as you wish. If thats not good enought go away to where you came from i'm sure its more to your liking.
23. Don't Ttrust Blair / Blames Israel for terrorism
semsem ,   New York, USA   (06.26.07)
Israel should not trust Blair. He has consistently blamed the Israeli Arab conflict on world terrorism. This libel shows he's biased against Israel. He has contributed to this idiotic belief in the UK.
24. #11
Ram ,   London   (06.27.07)
Wow! "Until the end". You sure talk tough! Sadly the ME is in a turmoil because of mindsets such as yours. You remind me of an angry child who keeps on attacking an adult who just holds him back. How long will your luck last?
25. Hamas is objecting because Blair was America's poodle and
lakshmi   (06.27.07)
will continue to be so.He will gang up with the new illegal quisling goverment appointed by Abbas, violating Basic Palestinian Law.Arts.43,45,83 &113 have been violated.
26. #22
Ram ,   london   (06.27.07)
Are you a leftist? You sure sound like one. At least Redmike and Nanette seem to care about what is good for Israel. It is what ALL Israelis should be doing. That includes you. Some of the Israeli media cross the line only because a democracy such as Israel allows them to. Betrayal of one's country under that pretext is nothing short of despicable.
27. Blair
Ram ,   london   (06.27.07)
For all it's worth, my opinion is that Blair is a man with knowledge of ME politics and a clean conscience. A prime minister of a democracy can make mistakes. He is not a dictator. He can also be let down by his cabinet for lack of support. To my mind Blair will use all his power to influence the quartet to apply fair play. This should prove positive for Israel, a country that is forever being blamed for everything. Can anybody name anyone better or safer? That is why Hamas do not like him. Not that Hamas has any say in this.
