1. a disgrace
Mike ,   Jerusalem   (06.27.07)
How can we look at ourselves in teh mirror? Abbas never misses an apportunity to demand the release of barghouti yet not a single one of our PMs with the exception of Bibi who in the end folded like a deck of cards has demanded the release of Jonathan Pollard! Shame on us!
2. You betcha, a disgrace
JPS ,   Efrat   (06.27.07)
There is no equivalence between freeing Gilad Shalit and the issue of Jonathan Pollard. Pollard sits in an American jail for crimes he admits he committed on American soil against the government of the USA. The disgrace is that the Pollard affair happened at all. Pollard is guilty, but so should be his Israeli (mis) handlers. Rafi Eitan and others responsible should have been fired. Unfortunately, you can't be convicted in a court on the charge of stupidity.
3. Kol Hakavod Mr Levy
charles ,   petach tikva   (06.27.07)
4. ok
atmawi   (06.27.07)
All respect, Kol Hacavod, Kol IL Ihteram. I am sure it means alot to Shalit family. This is so human, and all humans have to encourage it. Releasing 250/10000 prisnors is a joke, a humilation joke.
5. Mr. Levy....
Bereaved Israeli ,   Israel   (06.27.07)
I understand that this is most difficult to have decided and more difficult to publically express. As a bereaved citizen of Israel I fully agree with your decision...we are commanded to choose life and if by your decision you will assist in bringing back our soldiers then you have done honor to the memory of your beloved daughter. May the G-d of Israel bless you with many blessings, may He continue to comfort and guide you and may you and your family know no more sorrow.
6. What naivete
Sarah ,   Israel   (06.27.07)
I feel really sorry for MK Levi, but he has no right to allow the release of murderers. There is a history of released prisoners murdering again. So yeah, lets release them. Because even if they are deported, they're not going to be able to get back!!! Come on, get real.
7. To Mike
Arielush ,   Ramat ha Golan   (06.27.07)
You are mixing the issues. It's wrong to link Pollard to Shalit. One is a convicted spy, the other a hostage soldier. Pollard profited from his crimes, whereas Shalit is an innocent victim. Kol ha Kavod to Levi. It takes a tsadik to overcome his own tragedy and look at the bigger issue.
8. kol hakavod, a real mensch
abdulla ,   germany   (06.27.07)
9. Question for Charles
Enemy of State ,   Judea   (06.27.07)
Since you seem to support the release of terrorists (oops... I mean freedom fighters) in exchange for Gilad Shalit, I have a question. Let's say you knew in advance that one of the terrorists that killed Levy's daughter (or plotted to kill her) would go directly from prison to hatchet your mother to death. Would you still support releasing the prisoner in exchange for Gilad Shalit?
10. Levy is a big man
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (06.27.07)
who can understand another families grief. And as Arielush says, there is no comparing Shalit and Pollard.
11. # 4 atmawi
Josef Matamoros ,   Finland   (06.27.07)
"Releasing 250/10000 prisnors is a joke, a humilation joke." This is 250 prisoners too much to be released. They, the 10 000 sit incarcerated for due reason: for terrorism. Therefore they have to stay in. As simple as that. Golda Meir said peace is possible when Arabs love their children more than they hate Jews. The Arabs are not that mature yet.
12. Release terrorists if they
Miriam ,   Jerusalem   (06.27.07)
can bring those they murdered back. Obviously, they can't. So they should sit and rot in jail forever. What's the logical reason to release terrorists? So they should have another round of murdering Jews? What a stupid idea of this MK. The murder of his daughter corrupted his senses.
13. Y. Levi's Opinion Here Is Near Irrelevant
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (06.27.07)
Specifically because this was a personal tragedy, we cannot weigh too heavily his opinion. Society must not allow the "victim" or his relatives to decide the fate of the criminal. This must be the job of the law and judges lest we slide into anarchy.
14. Shalit is everyones child- future victims are just statistic
Alan ,   SA   (06.27.07)
This is the problem. Shalit has a place in all our hearts . He is the homely young guy with glasses with a loveable face!He is everyones son -even mine! Release 1500 terros for him -AT ALL COSTS HE MUST BE RELEASED !! They say . BUT........the next HUNDREDS of murdered Israelis (of all religions +overseas workers) are only at this stage STATISTICS . They are FACELESS so people dont think they too are OUR children and our people ! Thats why you DONT do human trading ...
15. What would he say after the terrorists kill
jason white ,   afula,israel   (06.27.07)
someone else's daughter. Levy should have fought for the death penalty and collective punishment for the terrorists and their families.
16. at least we gonna see a few families happy THIS IS A LOT
Atilla Liman ,   Karagözoğlu   (06.27.07)
at least we gonna see a few families happy ! THIS IS A LOT This fight is an endless fight. It will be great to see some people will be happy at the end of these talkings. I wish and hope to see you have Gilad and the other ones BACK TO HOME. and I also wish and hope to see at least some prisoners BACK TO THEIR FAMILIES. What ever we save FROM THE FIRE is wellcome. Love Atilla Liman Karagözoğlu
17. He proposes to exile the freed prisoners..
abdulla ,   germany   (06.27.07)
So, technically, they shouldn't be able to murder any isrealis. Furthermore, any such release should involve some strict surveilance rules in their new (arab) countries of residence. Some may even be re-incacerated in the arab countries. At any rate the shabak would be watching those who are real threats.
18. re levy
sc ,   j-ru   (06.27.07)
i think it's an amazing thing levy has said - there aren't many people in the world that would take a stance such as his...usually reactions are to push the victims more to the right. ...but i would worry that the conditions he would like imposed are fantasy. in the day and age of technology and the internet, just because the terrorists aren't physically on our soil doesn't mean they aren't wreaking havoc (or encouraging and/or planning it) wherever they are...
19. As a Human I like to thank to Him
Atilla Liman ,   Karagözoğlu   (06.27.07)
thank you Mr. Yitzhak Levy ! at least you are trying somethings. Only you know what you feel and live in your hearts. your heart is badly and deadly broken. I hope The God (G-d) gives you better feelings into your heart and you feel better to handle THE CRY. Love Atilla Liman Karagözoğlu
20. Mr. Levy
M. Hartley   (06.27.07)
I've lost my parents, my husband, aunts, uncles and a few friends. As much as that hurt, I cannot even imagine the pain of losing a child so needlessly and cruelly. Whether or not Mr. Levy's gesture is politically feasable or would bear good or bad fruit, the mere fact that he can find this much forgiveness in his heart and empathize with someone else's pain through his own is very admirable and, I'm sure, not easy. I know that I couldn't do it. I'd be so full of murderous thoughts there wouldn't be room in my heart for much else. .
21. Miriam may G-d help u get over ur bitterness
(06.27.07)
22. no comment....what about Tzedek Mister Levy ?
(06.27.07)
23. Again this blind Miriam
charles ,   petach tikva   (06.27.07)
If a son of someone you know could be exchanged for a murderer , would you also be against ? Has Gilat Shalit to "rot" as you say in captivity ? MK Levy is allowed to propose this exchange . it's a great Humane gesture . Ask Gilat's parents . You do'nt need a person killed to have corrupted ideas , not brains , since you have'nt any
24. #1 because Israel gifted him with citizenship; he's convert
(06.27.07)
but, barghouti was born Palestinian; he is original one.
25. #12 needs to rinse her uncontrollable mouth out with soap
(06.27.07)
Yet again! She sounds like another of those disgusting teachers who write into these columns with their foul mouths.
26. To # 25 Give your name !
charles ,   petach tikva   (06.27.07)
Listen , if you 've read my tb's you will know that i'm not a Miriam fan , but at least she knows who is writing , not an anonymous , i would call it , coward
27.  That's my name here.
Disgusted   (06.28.07)
28. To # 27
charles ,   petach tikva   (06.28.07)
I'm also disgusted , more from anonymous cowards . You are not disgusted , but disgusting .
29. Monsewer Charles
Shemless   (06.29.07)
Ynet didnt print my NAMED talk back to you. I pointed out that ynet prints who and what they want, nameless too. They even print repetitive people who repeat their boring mantras and call people liars time after time. Most of us take a nap where you're involved. Plus c'est la meme chose and it never change pas at all sadly. Mistakes in French were deliberate, before you start correcting those too, yawn yawn.
30. Poor shemless
charles ,   petach tikva   (06.29.07)
It's easy to tell that Ynet has rejected your named tb . Why did you write again as a coward anonymous ? Have i to believe you ? You will not be the first one to tell lies . If i have a tb rejected , i write an other one , do'nt blame me , ask Ynet why they rejected . If i call someone a liar , i repeat it untill i have some reaction . Maybe many of you do'nt like my writings , the thrut is not always accepted , and you do'nt know what to answer , only insults , that's your way .
