I am one and I have spent a great deal of the last decade travelling back and forth across check points in both the W Bank. I'm also a former IDF serving officer in the W Bank itself. But that is hardly the point. I do not recall Americans shrugging off criticisms of their Vietnam policy or for that matter any other with the excuse that foreigners should keep out of it. Its a rather hoary old catch -all for not facing up to the truth. And I am well acquainted with both bereaved relatives and the disabled on both sides of this conflict. But that too is irrelevant. What is relevant is that the checkpoints are in their majority morally unjust and corrupting - not that suicide bombings are any less so, but there are other ways to stop all of this and it is not by choking the lives of innocent Palestinians and corroding the minds of young Israelis who carry out this miserbale duty. Where is your right to comment all the way from LA and what do you suggest is the way of ending this?

If there were no Palestinians in Israel, there would be no terrorism either. Just put a permanent block on all Palestinians entering Israel. Then there would be no need for checkpoints.

Israel removes the checkpoints and in return peace now pearents send their children to Israel .. if their children were in Israel would they still be demanding the checkpoints be removed if not then why should the be removed and putting Israeli children? Hamas are not the only ones who carry out terror attacks against Israel, Fatahs Al Aska brigades have not denounced violence their cause is still the same as the Hamas cause. I am not aware of Peace Now Jewish Israeli Activists Going to the Main Square in Gaza to raise Arab support by appealing to the crow for the release of Cpl Shallit. Please inform me if they also have taken upon themselves issues which at first glance would not be tollerated if they adopted a similiar stance in the centre of cities in other Arab neighbouring countries with whome Israel wishes to live at peace with.

What would you do ? It's easy to say that we hurt innocent people , it's maybe true that our soldiers suffer from this . But give a safe alternative that prevents suicide bombers or other murderers to attack Israelis . If you have such a solution , possible to realise , safe in the same way as those check points , send it to the IDF , and then you can criticise Israel's policy regarding the checkpoints . You are not listening to the voices who do condemn and I think you know what it is I'm suggesting. What I can tell you is that in private the leading Right wing parties in Israel have been indivating for quite some time now that they realise that the settlelment enterprise is no longer tenable. I woiuld understand a reticence in handing over ther W bank to a fractured Palestinian Authority currently, but I see it coming soon enough and Thank God when it does. What I don't get apart from you telling me to shut up is what YOU suggest for a future political horizon for our young people, or are you one of those who has no vision and seeks to maintain the status quo & turn my mother's town into a 21st century Metzada?
