1. Justice hassn't given up on you!
s ,   ISRAEL   (06.28.07)
There is simply no justice in this country. And of course they will accuse you of being money hungry to cover Katzav. What about the other women he harrassed and possibly raped? Are they also money hungry? WELCOME TO SEX OFFENDERS. THIS IS YOUR KINGDOM!
2. #1 And why do you trust ever word she speaks?
(06.28.07)
3. Like Golan Cipel
marya ,   sacramento, USA   (06.28.07)
There's no reason for a grown woman in her position to become a "sex slave." What ever happened, happened with her full or implied consent. She says he had "full intercourse" with her? How does that happen without a gun to her head - and in such a public position? If it was so awful and she wanted it to stop she would have recorded her conversations with him. . She was raped like Golan Cipel Was raped.
4. "Terrorized her body" ! Does that make him a terrorist ??

8. Katsav needs to publish something
Steve ,   USA   (06.28.07)
B"H If Katsav agrees to a plea bargain, he needs to explain himself. I have not heard both sides of the coin yet. I want full informaiton before I reach a conclusion. I am not saying either claimant is innocent or guilty at this point. I need the full story before I reach a conclusion, and that means Katsav's version too. It is important that this case is handled properly, and that is part of handling a case properly, to have the testimony of both sides. Let us see what the full explanaiton is.
9. it struck me that if katsav dressed like-
yahn goodey   (06.28.07)
the pope and you put them together side by side behind closed curtains and then opened them up to the public-we'd have a hard time telling which one was which.glad i never got to shake katsavs hand considering now what he did with it in his office-poor lady.
10. Monica
Andras Bereny ,   Kfar Tapuah, Shomron   (06.28.07)
Monica had DNA evidence, "A" has only her words. By the way, why is she "A", doesn't she have a name and a surname?
11. #6 (& #7)
Hardy Harhar ,   Far far away   (06.28.07)
Marc, grow a brain. Schultz, nobody understood the " r e g l e m e n t s " ? (Where's Hogan?)
12. On a second read Katsav made admission
Steve ,   USA   (06.28.07)
B"H Katsav has reached a plea bargain. It is hard to have sympathy for him now that I have read the links. He made the state's servant his physical slave is the accusation. He has admitted to a significant part of it. It was his house. Does that mean that Israel allows for multiple wives? From a Torah perspective, why is different than the case of a woman who comes into a man's house for the purpose of being a physical partner without going through the Rabbinate? Is it not right that he owes her support costs for the rest of his life? This does not appear to be a rapist in the field. Rather it seems to me to be the case of a woman who did not immediately shout out when in the house of a man. The charges came much later than the timing of the acts of accusation. Some title both a rapist. I understand though in the field, the man is likened to a murderer. In his house, he is differentiated becuase he is responsible for her for the rest of his life. I really expect some Shas response to the investigation. If there is a confession to these allegations, this needs to go to a bet din for a moral resolution in addition to the state's punishments. Quote: His associates said Katsav told them: "I am tired, my family is wrecked, I do not have the stamina for a battle in court, so I admitted to hugging and kissing out of affection." ... "The president will be indicted for a series of indecent assaults against a woman who worked at his office in the Tourism Ministry, which translate into a criminal offense with a maximum punishment of seven years. "In addition, the indictment will include a sexual harassment offense against a complainant who worked at the President's Residence, and harassing a witness against one of the complainants from the President's Residence. The president will admit to the indictment and will take responsibility," Mazuz said. "The punishment agreed upon was a suspended sentence and compensation to the complainants… In addition, the president will submit his resignation to the Knesset Speaker as an act of taking personal responsibility for his conduct," he added.
13. Nobody can be sure....
Sharon ,   Israel   (06.28.07)
First of all after hearing everything she said about the president its really terrible if he really did those things!!!! But i must say that there are some questions to be asked on this case about what she said that she talked about the presidents wife and the fact that shes 28 i think that its old enough thats not exaclty an age to be naive but if he really raped her said those things to her than he used his force to get what he wanted cuz he knew shes much weaker and he thought she would never get so far by going to court with this case!!! those kind of ppl are the most dangerous ones thats why if there was enough evidence against him they shouldnt leave things like that he should sit right now in jail where ppl like this belong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
14. Faced the cameras anonymously???
Ilan ,   Ariel   (06.28.07)
I'm very uncomfortable someone leveling accusations under the guise of anonymity but doing it with collusion of the media. The whole point of letting a woman's identity stay hidden is to limit the likelihood of someone not testifying out of shame. The media circus around this makes that rationale hard to justify. This press conference has a bad smell to it. Is this about justice or is it about publicity?
15. One Needn't Be A Consipracy Theorist To Have Some Issues
Adina Kutnicki ,   US   (06.28.07)
I never felt one way or another about Katsav, I am totally unbiased in this case. But I do smell some dead rats and stinking fish. It is VERY likely that Katsav had a consensual affair with this woman. The fact that he went to the authorities about the blackmail speaks to his veracity. Why open himself up to this if he had something like rape to hide? It makes ZERO sense. When she realized that her extortion had been exposed she cried RAPE. This is exactly the playbook that many women use when caught in affairs. They scream RAPE.It hurts women who were really raped when women do this. Neither of these chevra are innocent, but you gotta think that someone got to her to extort the situation even more. Anyone think that Peres is innocent here? Is it ANY coincidence that he finally becomes President once Katsav is out of the way??
16. screwed twice
eliezer ,   jerusalem, israel   (06.28.07)
Seems to me she got screwed twice; once from Katzav and the other from Mazuz.
17. Makes no sense does she not have free will
rh ,   Ashdod Israel   (06.28.07)
Does anyone a job that badly that they have to against their will be submitted to the type of things described. Perhaps there is truth in her testimony if it is all true then I am imcapable of understanding her
18. Just a question..
Arthur ,   SF, CA   (06.28.07)
Without denying or affirming her part of the story - I have difficulties to digest it as presented to us. Someone in a position of President's secretary is certainly a person with intellect, ambitions, good working skills and certain power/influence. It's NOT a naive 18 years old -out of high school - easy to take advantage on girl - whos mind / personality is still developing. It's hard to imagine that one would become a 'sex slave' without knowing proper channels to object the unwanted advances. Sure - there is much more to that story; I guess we will never know everything about it - and do we honestly need to?
19. actual distraction of presidential function
H.H.M ,   Jerusalem   (06.28.07)
Scandalous handling of the whole affair from beginning to the end - instead of writen well weighed judgment a press conference, TV show as vendetta.
20. 'Katsav said he thought of me during sex with his wife'
(06.28.07)
I'm sure his wife is delighted with this revolting revelation. Poor woman, I'm very sorry.
21. Katzav is a sick perv, and "A" is an opportunist liar.
Tahl ,   Israel   (06.29.07)
Whatever happened there was sick, disgusting, and extremely shameful to the presidency of Israel. Personally I am disgusted by Mr. Katzav's behavior, and glad he does not represent me anymore. But whatever happened over there - it's pretty certain it wasn't rape. It is incomprehensible to me, why would a grown woman, who is clearly intelligent and rational (judging by her eloquent speech), choose to stay in this job, after being blatently sexually harassed for so long, and most certainly - after this so-called "rape". How could she let this happen for three or four times??? Maybe this was not such a hell as she made it sound like? Maybe it was a small sacrifice to pay for this lucrative and prestigious job? Maybe she planned to extort him? A normal woman would have quit this job as soon as he started to behave funny. A rape victim would never voluntarily come to work for her rapist, for many months after the "rape", and would certainly not allow him to rape her again. Unless it wasn't much of a rape... It smells to me like everything was pretty much consentual, she wanted to extort him, he went to Mazuz to foil the extortion, and in her frustration she decided to bring him down. Not that he come out clean from this - he is a filthy pervert. But an innocent pervert. And she is nothing more than an opportunist liar.
22. Libel
EM ,   Ra'anana   (06.29.07)
Katzav can probably sue "A" for libel. Which is what anyone else in his position would do if accused publically of such awful acts. But he'd have to prove that everything she is saying is false. I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't the reason "A" has revealed the all details of her complaint.
23. "He dropped his pants and had full intercourse with me"
C JAY   (06.29.07)
This happened three or four times. In that second I had become Katsav's sex slave. Something smells, if it would happen once then you could say it was rape but after all this chasing and grabbing your breast......, you still came back to work for him and then you say he raped you not once but 3 4 times and you became his sex slave (what the hell does that mean) Hey we are not stupit, you are either lying and this was totally consentual or you wanted him to rape you so you can black mail him, either way you are a lowlife just like him And why are you hidding your face if you are such a big victim???????????
24. Regardless of Katzav's innocence or culpabily
Ram ,   London   (06.29.07)
is this woman for real? He groped her, exposed himself to her, continuously made inappropriate remarks to her and, repeatedly raped her "on different days"? I kindly ask women readers here to explain to me the chances of this being true or even possible. Was she some sort of helpless retard or a prisoner who has suddenly found her freedom and developed a sudden surge in intellect? I am not even going to doubt Katzav's adulterous inclinations but this woman's story is not befitting a person holding a position in high office. Maybe he refused to leave Gila for her?
25. #11, A shame your brain is where the sun don't shine
Marc ,   IL   (06.29.07)
26. 10 women victims pass lie detector test
yahn goodey   (06.29.07)
katsav refuses to take one.10 to 1.moses says in the mouth of 2or 3 witnesses shall a matter be determined.he also says that if a man forces a virgin that is not betrothed he has to marry her.if this guy is so irresponsible as to assault 10 or more virgins that he cant afford to support -he should have thought with his head first instead of his privates.if he sexually assaulted one married women moses says he should die-but the government/courts wont obey that law either.
27. I don't believe a word!
Aussie Girl ,   Australia   (06.29.07)
After the first time he forced himself on you, you should have lodged a complaint with police and don't show up to work again. He asked you to touch it while he was wankering? I would have put it in my mouth and biten so hard that I would have cut it out, while squeezing his balls so hard that he would have been disabled. You claimed that he forced himself on you 3 to 4 times? .... So you don't remember exactly how many times you've been raped? I remember every boy I've had for the past 30years and how many times with each of them! Get a life you liar. You don't have a winning lotto ticket. Find yourself a day job. Good Shabbas
28. President Katsav
Bracha ,   Jerusalem   (06.29.07)
Please stop this rubbish through the Press. If the complainant was so sure of her sexual problem with our President, then surely she would have looked for the best Attorney in Israel to defend her, and not probably one of her friends, obviously a young Attorney who wants to make a name for herself. This really is the President's word against her with no witnesses. So please concentrate on more important matters that our Prime Minister seems to have forgotten about.
29. #24 - Ram - You requested an explanation
No means No ,   USA   (06.29.07)
from women regarding the chances of that being true or even possible. Here's mine: Nope. Men will always come on to women in the office, particularly if they are young and attractive. It's up to the woman to give the guy a clear message, in words and gestures, that his intentions are not welcome. The chances are that unless the guy is a psycho, he'll leave her alone. But the message has to be very straighforward, no ambiguities allowed. Guys don't want to work too hard in getting a girl. In the words of one of them, they wait to see whether there is green, yellow or red light. If the light is red, that's the end of it. When the man happens to be the boss, and if he feels entitled in spite of having been rebuffed, she needs to use other means to stop him. She can arrange for a transfer or she may submit a formal complaint. I don't know what the labor laws are in Israel, so I won't give my opinion in this regard. But most definitely she DOES NOT have to put up with it. And no man in such high office is going to take the risk of being accused of rape. The seduction was mutual. So to sum up, Ram, and in the words of other talkbackers, this story smells. She's not telling the true story.
30. Why didn't "A" quit or look for another job ASAP?
Rebecca Kmet ,   California   (06.29.07)
I was in the US Navy and could not quit and had to put up with a lot of sexual harrassments and attacks or face an administrative discharge at best. I learned not to take a job I could not quit. Why didn't "A" quit or look for another job when she felt uncomfortable? Probably because she loved Moshe Katsav, but wanted revenge when he did not divorce his wife to marry her. Then she felt used. Instead of turning to ha'Shem and repenting and walking away from a regrettable situation, she wanted revenge and got it. Anthropologist Margaret Mead said the girls must be protected from the desire of the males, but the males must also be protected from the charms of the young women. I was in a similar situation in the US Navy and the rapists were all promoted. ALL? Yes, I was drugged and raped and the rapists who were reported were promoted. Ha'Shem was upset, however. Looking at what ha'Shem did to the US Navy over the last 25 years, it is astonishing at the funding cuts from Congress that reduced the number of ships in half from what the US Navy had long ago when authority was misused and the attackers were not prosecuted. My grief was such that I got cancer, but ha'Shem wanted me to live and the tumor caused by the attackers was removed when it was ONE LAYER OF CELLS from metastasizing. If "A" continues to grieve, she will likewise get very sick. It would be better for her to take a lot of omega-3-fatty acid capsules which lifts the spirits and go on. When Moses could not face another day, he asked ha'Shem what to do. "Go on" was the reply. "Go on." You will not forget, but you can learn to quit a job when you feel uncomfortable and learn there are place women can work and not have to compromise themselves.
