31. Anti Semites love to attack shechita and Brit Milah
David ,   Norway   (07.08.07)
Ant Semites love to attack the "barbaric" Jewish traditions of male circumsicion and ritual kosher slaughter. There is a debate going on about female circumcision in Europe these days, and in every discussion, someone has to come out speaking about the Jews and how they cruelly cut their poor boys etc. They never bring up male Muslem circumcison, or medical circumsicion practiced widely among white chrisitans in the USA. Somehow the Jews have to be blamed. I think Mr. Nensak fits into this category of talkbackers.
32. I in no way, think everyone should think like me
John ,   USA   (07.08.07)
I just find animal or man sacrifice not at all to my WAY of life. Granted, man eats animals. But I don't have to agree or think it is what G-d wants for me personally.
33. In fact, it is really strange for me to think of women eatin
John ,   USA   (07.08.07)
Call me biased. I just think it is not natural.
34. Intedi Nendak , sweden
charles ,   petach tikva   (07.08.07)
Have you seen once how cattle is brought to the slaughter hall ? they have a feeling that something is going to happen to them , and the farmers have to give them electric shocks to make them advance [ i have assisted at such scenes ] Have you seen how horses are brought to Europe ? how they are looking ? full of wounds . Then you dare to say that kosher slaughter is sadistic . It has to be done in a way that causes the less harm to this animal . We wont talk about the way some shellfish are boiled while still living . Now , if you are'nt a vegetarian the whole of your writings are hypocrite .
35. Charles, when I was younger a friends father
John ,   USA   (07.08.07)
told me that when he worked in the stock yard the cattle knew that they were going to die. He told me some of them had tears. He hated the job.
36. Unsafe food-agree with #17
K. Tyson ,   Mobile, AL USA   (07.08.07)
Agreed. Last year I was infected with Salmonella from a deli sandwhich. I spent 4 days in the hospital at the cost of $14,000.Since that time I have had 2 other food poisonings (E. choli). I try to eat Kosher when I can. I am not Jewish. However, it is a fact that the cleanliness standards are well above what is normally required.
37. Let's go veg..
Alena ,   Praha, CZ   (07.09.07)
I don't eat any meat - I don't find it humane. Simple.
38. #37: There are some things to consider about going veggie..
(07.09.07)
You need to eat WALNUTS to get the variety of essential fatty acids your body needs. You also do not get complete proteins from a vegetarian diet, so add eggs at least. The studies I have read about on physician email newsletters like Dr. William Campbell Douglass II say vegetarians do not live as long as people who have complete proteins in their diets. In case you think eating veggie will prevent BSE, there are Adventist vegetarians in Britain who got BSE from inhaling bone meal powder while putting it in the soil for rose gardens. Daniel in the Bible ate pulse and drank water instead of eating the king's meat and wine. Pulse was likely the diet prescribed for the captives by the Prophet Ezekiel in chapter 4 verse 9 of the Authorized King James Bible. Ezekiel bread and cereal is available on the market. It is as close to a complete protein meal without eggs or meat as you can get.
39. affectation.
p. wrobel ,   london   (07.09.07)
these people, these celebraties. when they order the kosher food, do they do it in a loud voice so that the whole resteraunt can hear that THEY'RE "EATING JEWISH"? if they are trying, for what reason i cannot imagine, to show off then their behaviour is an ornamentation, a vanity. these are people to whom "judaism" means kabbalah.
40. To Nensak
Mark ,   New york   (07.09.07)
After all your comments you didn’t even for once explained us how it is done in your country. So, please enlighten us and tell us how in your country (Sweden) it’s done less “barbaric” and “sadistic” than our way. Hypocrite!!!
41. #7...The reason people should not eat pork is that...
(07.09.07)
pigs do not sweat, even from their tongues. So the toxins they eat which other antimals can sweat out stay in the pork people eat. It is safer not to eat pork for that reason. It tastes good, but I gave it up.
42. P. Wrobel # 39
charles ,   petach tikva   (07.10.07)
You probably do'nt know that in Kosher restaurants , you can't eat shrimps or pork . When you are there , it's only to eat kosher , you have'nt to order your meal loudly .
43. NYC girl , Kosher wines
charles ,   petach tikva   (07.10.07)
Yesterday i've seen a guide to Israeli wines . The great wineries have only kosher products . Smaller not so much . They probably can't afford to pay for the superviser , the masgiach .
44. How is it done in Sweden?
Annie ,   Tel Aviv   (07.10.07)
Nensak, i too am curious about how slaughter of cow/ pig is handled in sweden, if the kosher way is deemed unacceptable. But notwithstanding, im an israeli vegetarian.
45. how it's done in sweden
annie ,   tel aviv, israel   (07.10.07)
well, i looked it up myself and in sweden, animals are given anasthesia before they're slaughtered. This makes them immobile. Kosher law says that an animal must show that it is healthy by moving in order to be killed for food and this is where the conflict lies. obviously this was done to prevent humans from eating bad meat but today, there are other ways of proving that an animal is healthy. so in my opionion, the swedish way is by far more humane for animals. the rabbis should not interpret kosher laws by the letter and go with what the INTENT of kashrut was to begin with - the least amount of suffering for animals and the safest quality meat for humans. But again, for the BEST solution - GO VEG!
46. Pathetic comments about Intedi
Karen ,   London   (07.10.07)
Has anyone else noticed that if someone disagrees with a Jewish practice that they are immediately labelled anti-Semitic in this forum? Not only is this a very poor reaction, it de-legitimises using the term anti-Semitism if you use it for comments that are blatantly not anti-Semitic. In addition Israelis also protest in Israel the process of slaughter for kosher meat most notable in the summer art festival near Berr’i. You can't expect someone to respect your opinion if you don't reciprocate
47. glat abbatoir in the states
yeled ,   israel   (07.10.07)
kosher killing of cows in the states by glatt, someone ought to really see whatt is happening because that is worse than anything ive ever seen. look at earthlings on google video.watch it through to the end if you can .
48. 1 of the first things the Nazis did was ban Kosher slaughter
Beth Landau ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (07.11.07)
So Mr. swedish guy, I would not be too proud of the fact that your country bans Kosher slaughter. Your laws seem pretty similar to theirs. And for the record, Jewish ritual slaughter is actually quite humane. For complete information about it check the following link: http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=43035

I know some people in Israel want to test pork my advise to you prathers and sisters DONT BE TEMPTED ,JUST KEEP YOURSELF AWY FROM THIS NOT HEALTY AND UNCLEAN FOOD.G-D BLESS YOU.
50. no 48
the mirror ,   larsi   (07.11.07)
Behind these laws is the divine imperative that human beings abhor the sight of blood, reject violence and recoil from cruelty toward any of God's creatures. God is the Creator of life, man its guardian and protector. Yet the history of humankind is a history of violence, war and blood sport, for which human beings have an innate propensity.
51. Not all Israeli wines are kosher
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (07.12.07)
...there are good nonkosher wines, too, which have won many awards. The best of the kosher wines are NOT boiled, cooked, flash pasturised or whatever one wants to call that processed. A point about kosher wines -- I recently read that the reason the older (Manachevitz, Shapiros, Kedem) kosher wines are so icky sweet is becaue they are made with Concord grapes, whose gamey taste require, as Mary Poppins said, a spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down. Newer California grown grapes don't need it.
52. Buddha spent his youth in a yeshiva??
Hani ,   Haifa, Israel   (07.13.07)
Buddha spent his youth in a yeshiva? Can anyone explain me what's it all about?
53. Kosher Slaughter is Humane
Dave W ,   Baltimore USA   (07.27.07)
The animal barely feels the knife, and by the time it would be aware of the pain, it is unconscious. I quote: "To determine whether cattle feel the act of having their throat cut, Grandin (1994), at one plant, deliberately applied the head restrainer so lightly that the animals could pull their heads out; none of the 10 cattle moved or attempted to pull their heads out. Observations of hundreds of cattle and calves during kosher slaughter indicated that there was a slight quiver when the knife first contacted the throat (Grandin, 1994). Invasion of the cattle’s flight zone by touching its head caused a bigger reaction (Grandin, 1994, 1993b) than did the act of having its throat cut. " See: http://www.grandin.com/references/humane.slaughter.html
54. Kosher Food
Bess Hyman ,   Sherman Oaks, Ca. US   (07.27.07)
Madonna and Hilton eating ksher food--is thhis good or bad for the Jews?
55. Now if we can just get Jews to keep Kosher
L. Mark DeAngelis ,   Chicago, IL   (07.28.07)
It's a sad state of affairs when prominent non-Jews are going out of their way to eat Kosher food, whilst so many of our fellow Jews are rushing to the exits, not to mention not keeping Kosher.
56. Kosher doesn't equal healthy
Ike ,   cville   (07.28.07)
Where did people get the idea that kosher food -especially meat - is de facto healthier than treif meat? That's just not the case. I can see how strict vegetarians and vegans would appreciate dairy restaurants, since they'd be assured that there were no meat traces in the food. But the intrinsic health food value of kosher food is simply a myth.
57. Nensak & Karen are certainly not anamored of Juda
Frank ,   London   (07.29.07)
If people are attack Jewish religion they are certainly anti-Semites, in the true sense of the word. No doubt at all. After all, there aren't that many mysterious genes or languages that set us apart from other nations in Europe or Middle East. It is our religion that sets us apart. Nensak hates it for what it is and Karen does too. Shchita is a central commandment in Judaism, like Shabbes and Family purity. Those arguing against simply want Judaism to disappear. So why shouldn't we call them antisemites? By the way, Sweden cooperated with Germany in till end of 43.
58. America Goes Kosher
Neil Fiertel ,   Spruce Grove, AB, Ca   (07.30.07)
I sure wish the Kosher trend would cross the border into Edmonton, Alberta,Canada where I reside and where one cannot find a decent bagel and forget the idea of good Kosher food. The nearest thing we have is a tiny take out Israeli style restaurant and for me, that is not Kosher food like my mother made. Edmonton needs Kosher culture and a good Pastrami Sandwich. It used to be that Costco had Kosher hotdogs but even that is gone to the dogs, so to speak, with lousy local fare instead of Kosher Zion. There is only one word to cover the sadness of every cuisine but mine...OY!
59. kosher
