1. depots containing vast amounts of weapons.
Pat Klein ,   Europe   (07.06.07)
just a simple question - if the IDF knows so much about those depots - why the heck they didn`t bomb them?
2. O no, that is terrible
Avi ,   Israel   (07.06.07)
hamas has so much weapons, what are we to do? I know, someone quick, give fatah more weapons so that they could defend us....... Yeah, that'll work........
3. thank you, Arik & Olmert
(07.06.07)
4. Disengagement was followed by import of major weapons
Isaac ,   Israel   (07.06.07)
The stupidity & blindness of the left, ie Sharon, Livni, gideon Ezra, & arabS meretz/labour/kadima is astounding. While thrilled at throwing 10,000 Jews out of their houses, they proceeded to reward the arab terrorists to import TONS of weapons into Gaza via Egypt which did not feel obligated to prevent this. The israeli leaders covered their proverbial ^%%$ by wondering aloud why the Egyptians did nothing to stop them. When all is said & done, the IDF allowed anti aircraft, possibly katyushas & additional new weaponry into terrorist hands two years ago, all the while claiming that this would "stabilize" the region. Sderot is only the first step in the arab plan of terrorizing Israel while proving Israel's inability to stop them. Sderot PLUS will be the next step, when the arabs will extend their terror further into Israel via rocketry, leading to further destabization of the region, drawing Syria, Lebanon & possibly Iran directly into the conflict. The ramifications of Israel's leftist "appeasement" leanings as well as that the majority of the Highest echelons of the IDF hierarchy will continue allowing arab terrorism to proceed until the enire country will be susceptile to attack at any moment, while Israel's deterrent factor will be a fond memory from the past. The following critical point which the rest of the world will understand after Israel's failure is that terrorism must be stopped cold. It must not be allowed to experience reward following each of its aggressive forays. It may be too late for us, but for the world's sake, I hope they take note.
5. I love Fatah
kyle ,   las vegas   (07.06.07)
I love the fact that these so called "moderates" need anti aircraft missiles. Why the hell do they have them? Oh wait i forgot they need to shoot Israeli planes and helicopters to further show their moderate position. Israel why are you wasting time talking to fatah they are more dangerous than hamas because they try to disguise their terror whereas hamas's terror is just in the open. Release a million prisoners to get Gilad and then crush the gaza strip!

gedaliah   (07.06.07)
Hamas and the PLO have ben sunanomous in hiding guman, bombs and other terrorist activity in civilaian centers, kindergardens, day schools and othe rpublic buildings. with this, I think you now know why we care not able to bomb these depots. The only way is with ground troops. This is the morality of the IDF, we would rather put our own troops in danger then kill innicent civilians..
7. #4 - You said exactly what I was going to say.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (07.06.07)
We are governed by fools.
8. Hamas rockets does not equal strength or state
JPS ,   Efrat   (07.06.07)
Hamas is nothing more than boys with toys. Their ideology will never succeed in building a successful independent state. They way Hamas works is to survive on other peoples' charity, rather than building their own economic base. Thus, having a limited number of weapons does not make them a long-term threat, or even a strategic threat. Hamas amounts to nothing more than a pain in the butt that won't go away, since the patient refuses to make the decision to have protologic surgery. The bottom line is that Hamas can't not and will never be able to wage all-out war against Israel. However, they can die trying, and that's our biggest concern.
9. to No 6. winnig hearts and minds!
Pat Klein ,   Europe   (07.06.07)
..oh I understand the IDF don´t want to copy the American / NATO-FARCE approch of winnig hearts and Minds in Iraq and Afganistan by just bombing the terrorists!
10. Hamas has rockets than can hit IDF planes
gabriela ben ari ,   jerusalem   (07.06.07)
They also have dozens of agents in Israeli Knesset called "Kadima" "Merets" "Avoda" "Balad" ect why doesn't this surprise me?
11. ..but they don't have the brains to shoot
john ,   nz   (07.06.07)

12. when israel want she can to erace hamas

its very onecoming
13. Conceptzia
Edmond ,   Jerusalem, Il   (07.06.07)
Well, another good reason to support Fatah in the w bank, and give them more weapons, and trust thatthey wont import AA missiles, great thinking guys!!
14. not a serious article - where are Israel 'journalists' ?
redmiike ,   tel aviv   (07.06.07)
I am almost at the point of giving up on all 3 of the leading Israel newspapers. They are mostly totally amateurish and lazily written. Otherwise they support fringe groups like Peace Now, Bet Ztlem etc. If there are 20,000 Hamas gunmen then it matters not whether they have 20,000 guns or 2 million. When was the last time an Israeli plane was shot down? Does Hamas have some secret weapon that neither Syrian or Lebanon have?! The article is simply lazy tripe!
15. And all thanks to LIVNI
Malcolm   (07.06.07)
She got Sharon the votes for the Katif Surrender. She negotiated the terms of surrender at Rafah. Andshe did the exact same thing with the Lebanon Surrender. She is a TRAITOR and belongs behind bars.
16. NO BRAINS,JOHN,SURE?.......#11
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (07.06.07)
Then how much brain do the IDF have to agree with you,Newzealander? Why are they so much concerned?
17. Oh, I'm sure the IAF has heard of stealth fighters.
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (07.06.07)
18. Road Map Solution

Relax and be silent and go quietly as your grandmothers and grandfathers did . We will ead you forward ,forward .
19. BLOODY FOOLS
ROLAND ,   london England   (07.06.07)
THE EARTHY TERM .. BLOODY FOOLS SHOULD BE USED TO DESCRIBE OUR SELF DELUSION THAT FOES ARE REALLY FRIENDS .ITHE CABINET IS SENDING US A MESSAGE IT IS BETTER FOR US TO BE KILLED BY FATAH THAN HAMAS .HAVE WE BECOME TOO INTELLECTUAL AND TOO ACADEMIC . WE ARE NOW PAYING THE PRICE FOR SUPPRESSING COMMON SENSE
20. Why is everyone so worried?
Mike ,   Israel   (07.06.07)
These arabs may have these weapons but the instructions on how to use was never sent to them, dont worry they will never be able to figure it out. Its was the same 2 weeks ago hamas found all these parashoots ran up 15 floors to try and see how they worked, after jumping he quickly looked for the instructions as he was watching the land below fast approching him, he quickly learned that you have to scream jeranomooooooooo not alah uh acbar, all that got him is splat splat on the ground. oh well better luck next time, brain dead arab.
21. Hamas has a best freind in Englands Parliement - read
Andrew ,   Miami,FL   (07.06.07)
Mr McMillan-Scott, Conservative MEP for Yorkshire and Humber, described Alan Johnston’s release as: “An enduring tribute to the sweetness of freedom, denied to his captors and the people of Gaza.” Edward McMillan-Scott is a Conservative British Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for Yorkshire. He is a Vice-President of the European Parliament and a Patron of the BBC World Service Trust. This is also the man – he styles himself as “the European Parliament vice-president responsible for the Arab world” – who, on returning from a progress through Palestine, boasted about the Hamas green tie he had been given, and proudly wears at every opportunity. How he can conflate the captivity under permanent threat of death of the journalist to the situation in the West bank? The moral equivalence is disgraceful in the extreme. MEP for Yorkshire, balls, MEP for Ramallah more like.
22. The Correct and only MORAL Respons: Re-take Gaza!
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (07.06.07)
Stop aiding and abetting the EXPANSIONIST Islamo Fascist enemy with mega millions in tax revenues, releasing thousands of terrorists to rejoin the jihad and gifting Jewish land to implacable enemies whose goal is the destruction of Israel and Jewish annihilation. Israeli leaders aid and abet the daily rocket attacks against Sderot's terrified citizens by refusing to re-take Gaza and permanently stop the terror attacks. Sderot's citizens live every moment in fear. The strategy is to drive out Jews from inside the green line - one city at a time - replacing Jews with Arabs. The next city targeted is Ashkelon.
23. Hamas can hit IDF planes
Brod ,   USA   (07.06.07)
Hamas threatens to hit Israel's warplanes. If it does it would be interesting to see what it would get in return. It is time the IDF neutralizes Hamas and its Jihadist mercenaries.
24. Arms and Trash
Jack ,   USA   (07.06.07)
Why not send thoses big cargo planes over Gaza and dump sewage on them. Every day they do not give up arms they get trashed. When they turn over arms they can recieve money from the UN to begin clean up.
25. Rather amazing that such materials weren't secured or hit
(07.06.07)
It's doubtful that Abbas would have destroyed it. But, someone--like maybe whomever gave it to them--should have hit it rather than let Gaza turn into another S. Lebanon. There are times to take the gloves off and that would have been one of them. When is the world going to learn?
26. Wake up Israel
Joe ,   Israel   (07.06.07)
Wake up!! Tell the left that if they love the arabs so much, let them go and live with them. IDF: You know where the amunition dumps are. Do something about them. Remember, in a concentrated dump, if you blow up one bomb or rocket, chances are it will set off a chain reaction. If not, you can always try again. It's time to take back the initiative.
27. #21 you sound so stupid !
(07.06.07)
28. TAKE GAZA BACK NOW!!!
Marcella   (07.06.07)
29. Is Israel being betrayed from within?
Marcella   (07.06.07)
Please tell me: why did Fatah need anti-aircraft missiles?????? ---------------------------- Not that it needed any guns at all. The whole Bush-Olmert policy has been wrong, very wrong. But this important detail is key to further investigation of their motives.
30. That's disengagement exploding in Israel's face
Avraham ,   NYC   (07.06.07)
Olmert the defeatist is doing nothing about it; moreover, he's encouraging the Arab terror by releasing 250 Arab terrorist thugs and four Jordanian murderers.
