1. So what??
David L.   (07.13.07)
Shalit is still captive, and it's 100% certain that the Hamas member will be released in exchange for Shalit.
2. Death penalty
Josef Matamoros ,   Finland   (07.13.07)
For persons like Mohammad Sufi the death penalty is the solution. That tool disponible would stop unnecessary negotiations and shopping with terrorists and their organizations.
3. SO... WHERE'S SHALIT?
stude ham   (07.13.07)
4. Prisoner of war.
Nabulsi   (07.13.07)
Sufi is a soldier whose duty is to defend his country. If Israel is a real country it would treat him as a prisoner of war, but israel is not a real country and will not comply with any international conventions. No Thanks to uncle Sam for supporting it.
5. I AGREE WITH JOSEF ABOUT THE DEATH PENALTY.
MIKE HAMEN ,   USA   (07.13.07)
6. we need to let him go to strengthen moderate elements within
Moshe ,   Beit Shemesh   (07.13.07)

8. Sufi may also be for Death Penalty
Umm El Kul Naqba   (07.13.07)
Assuming that Sufi was a key player in Shalit's kidnapping and other terrorist attacks, he must hold some very interesting information about other members of his cell and the chain of command that issued the orders to attack and kidnap. I can only imagine that IDF would want to acquire this information and take the appropriate corrective measures. I would not be the least bit suprised if Sufi would also be for the Death Penalty by the time that IDF has retrieved all the required information.

If I remember correctly, 'Palestinians' tunneled from Gaza to sovreign Israel to kidnap someone. I am not sure how 'protecting his country' involves infiltrating someone else sovreignty, but up is down in the Arab world, so I've given up trying to follow.

Hey, nablusi - change your name to 'Schemi' - at least you will stop lying to yourself and all other talkbackers. Maybe it will occure to you that Israel is a real country and you are a mere trespasser on somebody elses land

13. A proposal....eye for an eye.
simple man ,   los angeles   (07.13.07)
Mohammad Sufi and his ilk should be put in death row, and upon any suicidal attack or shooting from Palestinian side, equal numbers of fatalities, should be executed from the death row. Eye for an eye.
14. #4; What International conventions are you
Doc Holliday   (07.13.07)
talking about? Unlike soldiers captured ( kidnapped ) by Hamas, Israeli prisoners are treated well and get visits from the Red Cross, Family and lawyers.
15. #4 international conventions
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (07.13.07)
What "international conventions" does Hamas observe? Shut your freaking mouth.
16. Hey #4 Both you and Sufi...
Mark Kleiman ,   South Florida   (07.13.07)
are COWARDS. Arabs live happy and free in Israel, a real country. You demand that land is yours only after is rid of Jews. Sooooooooo.... we gave you land by removing our brothers and sisters from Gaza. Then what did you do??? You killed two of us and took one Jew back to Gaza. Why are you so insecure that you feel a need to murder and kidnap innocent people?
17. 4 - Sufi CAN'T BE POW, according to international law
student ,   Israel   (07.13.07)
According to the Third Geneva Convention, Article 4, a person can be taken a prisoner of war only when he fulfills all of the following conditions: (a) That of being commanded by a person responsible for his subordinates; (b) That of having a fixed distinctive sign recognizable at a distance; (c) That of carrying arms openly; (d) That of conducting operations in accordance with the laws and customs of war. Gunmen in Hamas and other groups fulfill MAYBE one and a half of these conditions (A and sometimes C). They certainly never fulfill all four and thus, legally, cannot be afforded POW status. NONETHELESS, all Palestinian prisoners in Israel are registered AND afforded Red Cross visits, as well as visits from legal representation when they go on trial. Most are even granted regular family visits. Many Palestinian prisoners in Israel are currently enrolled at the Open University. Conditions in Israeli prisons are so relatively good that many impoverished Palestinian parents last year encouraged their children to provoke IDF soldiers so that they would be arrested and thus, be ensured three square meals a day and good healthcare. CLEARLY, Israeli prisons are in compliance with basic international standards. So seriously, WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!

Mike ,   Israel   (07.13.07)
YOu say Israel is not a real country but this terorist is a solider and was defending his country. Wow your something tell me Should we treat him the same way as they treat are 2 soldiers when they entered Ramalah by accident 4 years ago and a mod linched them. I think we shoul break one bone in his body for evey hour they keep Shalit.

27. Arrest
Fearless ,   Pace, Fl USA   (07.14.07)
Why arrest the kidnapper? Olmert will only release him to foster goodwill!
28. #26 you didn't answer the question ?
Doc Holliday   (07.14.07)
It doesn't surprise me ! Just change the subject. When confronted with a serious question that asks you to prove your point you response is to eat an extra-cheese Kunafa. Most Arab cities in Israel have Hebrew names because if this was the Wild West the Indians are the Jews the Pals are the invading cowboys. The Jews are the Native Americans the Pals are the outsiders that teach a false history. Shucks, everybody knows that !
